What is member whoring I hear someone ask. Its quite simple. Send an invite and ignore the person from then on. Here in the Chasseurs we take a pro active recruitment policy. Two of our recruiters have since become captains for Guardian and I hope they do good work. What do I mean by pro active. As much as I would love to, I haven't the time to be wandering around aimlessly looking at the talent around our streets. Those fresh off the boat and wanting to make a name for themselves, I just don't get down there that much these days. So knowing this limitation I spoke to the Boss and we appointed four good solid mafiosa to do this job for us. Their remit was simple keep an eye on the local liquor stores and watch out for purse snatchers. There are eager people out there who will make good money and I want a cut of that money going into Detroit coffers. Fundementally though, any person these guys recruited they were to stay in contact with and be their first point of call until they reached the point where their button was up. To me this is not whoring. |

Digger, whilst I don't particularly agree with actively recruiting full stop anyway, I don't have that much of an issue with families setting up certain 'channels' for these things to happen. By that I mean people who have been assigned the family role of scouting the docks for potential and they, in turn, feedback to the boss. However, my main gripe is that this should never ever, in my opinion, be done by the family heads directly. It's absurd. It's not really idyllic the other way around either, as has been touched upon, with random gangsters contacting family heads, but things have to work within the means we have in this thing of ours so it's always going to happen. The fact is, most of the people off the boats have been guided by their forefathers so already know the direction in which they're headed. For those that are of a new bloodline, I would argue that if things are really too confusing, and that they can't figure these things out within 48 hours, then so be it. Their son will get another chance. Mollycoddling - and I'm not saying that is what you inparticular are doing, I'm talking about the bigger picture - is not healthy for this thing of ours. Let people make mistakes, let early bloodlines die, let people learn from experience. The majority of the bloodlines around that actually enrich this community did it without been spoon-fed, so why start now? (Not that this is a new debate...). Once people are actually in a family, by all means coach them and nurture them, but if people can't figure out what is happening in the initial 48 hours, then they're not worthy of your valuable family slots. No doubt, even at the best of times, it is frustrating to watch other families grow if yours is standing still numerically, but that is more to do with the current auth climate than it is with recruitment policies. |

blah blah member whoring member whoring. That's all i ever hear in the streets. you got 6 more new members than my crew today. your a member whore!!! waaaaa!!!! cry like a baby. You can mail 150 new people in a day and recruit them, if you take care of them, take the time to teach them everything about the game, the way, and in the process learn a little something about who they really are your not a member whore. "Member Whore" doesn't exist in the sense everyone uses it on here. There are two paths. The first path is as i described. a good CL or RHM who may recruit 50 people in 2 days, but is on a first name basis with all his/her members, mails them individually everyday to see how they are doing and keeps a watch over them for the first 6 months of their life. The second type...is one who recruits those same 50 members, and doesnt send one email to any of them or show them anything about the game or offer any support structure. Neither on of these is a member whore. One is just a shitty ass CL. But every one of you would take the pot if you had 10 new members to win or 20 or more. People complain waaaa your a member whore. Quit crying because they get to them first. a month from now they'll die in a war and then you can "Member Whore" them from the other guy on their return.. Does anyone get it? Or will 30 more posts have to be written because people think im wrong?? |

Posts? Game? Email? Nope, I don't get it. You have completely lost me. You also seem to be saying that a good Boss is one who acts like a babysitter rather than the head of a mafia family. Sir, I think you could use some bed rest. You seem delirious. |

Well first of all, yes I have to argue with you High_SocWinter_Hill because I do not know what game you mean? Are you talking about gambling? Anyways, another point I disagree with you is that a 'CL' is talking to every associate. I wouldn't say a family head should talk to all associates unless they're members of the family nor should he know them by first name. Which brings me to another point about the actual topic, I never said that recruitment shuld be made by the head of a family or a RHM as it's not their business as El_Nino made clear. Now you might wonder why I recruit. I might wear slanties but what am I actually? I am the right hand of a captain of a Don who works under the Godmother of Detroit. Pretty much down the row and that's why I think recruitment is okay for me. Also I think it is something I'm good at. Now about charity, when I help young criminals new to this thing of ours without taking them into the family is of course also selfish, that's not a secret. This might be one day a powerful mafioso whom I call a friend of mine. I hand out loans which I get back with some interest. All things that help me. |

Your weak arguments don't convince me, Salvatore, nor do they need to since I am but a lowly Wise Guy and the boss(es) can do whatever they like, that is their privilege. I think this discussion has run it's course though, I'd only be repeating myself about the nonsensical nature of going out and familiarising yourself with lowly thugs. |
