| The Legitimacy of New Crews | Started by: RourkeyRourke on Feb 04, '09 16:32 |

Rourkey pours himself a glass of fine whiskey and pours it on the ground in respect for the fallen mafiosos. He pours himself another glass of fine whiskey and throws it in the face of ThomasRourke. He pours another glass of fine whiskey and gulps it down. Rourkey saunters into the street to his favourite popsicle stand and uses it as a makeshift forum for his announcement My friends, we have gathered today in the face of numerous deaths. I am unsure for the cause of all these murdered mafiosos, but I am sorry for their families. I bring a larger point to the streets. In the face of the new auths in the fair streets of Detroit, Philadelphia, and Chicago, it appears that two unknowns have decided to purchase headquarters of their own in attempts to enter the exciting world of crewleadership: Phantom_BFN and Denver. Are these crews legitimate? My ancestors have always told me that any bold crewleader who has purchased a headquarters without public support on the Streets was regarded a "rogue" and usually met with swift opposition. I cannot recall hearing or seeing anything about Phantom_BFN or Denver and I do not wish for them to be met with a bullet so soon into their reigns. To be perfectly clear, I would be very insulted if I was a newly authed leader who had to deal with these riff raff scurrying about, competing with me to fill their headquarters. I bear no ill will towards these mafiosos; I am merely seeking clarity over a usually hotly-contested problem we encounter. I don't usually like to turn an announcement of my own into a debate for the streets, but I would love to hear some comments about whether the populace has branded these folks as "legit crews" or "rogue leaders." I leave my popsicle stand to you fine mafiosos for your chance to speak. Rourkey places a saddle on ThomasRourke and gallops away into the sunset |

You see the young lad walk up with a cigar in his mouth and begin to speak Yes my good sir, I have been authed. My opening thread shall be up as soon as possible. You see the man and his bodyguards walk swiftly into the foggy alley back to his head quarters |

| To make it clear, yes both of these crews have been authed. By me and other leaders. They are in my city, and have been given permission. I have not yet made it to the streets to announce it, as I have things to do. I will make an official thread soon enough. | |

| Here's the only point I'll make in this matter. Denver was a RHM to Hayley, and seemingly just bought out and left her crew during war time. I don't know maybe there's a story behind that, but when a crew is left without a RH or LH, how do members keep the faith. Like I said, there could be a back part to this I don't know, but those are just the facts I saw. | |

Rourkey pours himself a glass of whiskey and laughs quite audibly in the streets. Threads? THREADS? Are we holding a knitting circle out here on the streets? If you are both discussing threads, my jacket could use tailoring! Thank you for this clarity, Donna Hayley. I've learned never to trust an individual crew's word on legitimacy seeing as many have used the "authed but not yet announced" method for rogue-ing. I wish Chicago nothing but success in the future and hope the bloodshed is all but finished. |

Declined auth? There is a God! wipes the sweat from his brow Close call. Please don't allow Rourkey the opportunity to litter our streets with the seriously scary waste that would come from his HQ. Not to mention the smell. It would just be a nuisance. And what the hell whiskey is he drinking now that would compel him to come out here and be serious? Shocking. But now I feel compelled to respond in a serious manner. scribbles a response on a piece of paper and mails it to Mr. RourkeyRourke. I'm forced to mail it since he left so quickly on his trusty steed. I didn't see any announcement that these new "crewleaders" were properly authed. Therefore they are rogue, at least until such an announcement is made. Whatever rogue means. I always preferred people who would come out here and talk about rouge leaders. They were much better. And clearly more colorful. |

Hayley... You don't have time to come to the streets to let people know that two new crews are not in fact rogues and soothe the public mindset, as everyone is concerned for their safety? You don't have time to announce the auths of these two new leaders, yet you do have the time to come to the streets to see what other people are saying and reply to the openly inquisitive? Wouldn't it have saved time in the beginning to just write a quick thread announcing the legitimacy of the two new families so that no one is left questioning the safety of our society and then come back later for a more in-depth welcoming of their new enterprises to your city? If a sizeable amount of the population is uncertain as to the validity of a new bold, would it not be in everyone's best interest to see to it that any threat is quickly eliminated? |

| And if Rourkey is the one to announce it, then you know that there MUST be a sizeable portion of the community that wants to know. | |

Nikki, I understand your point. Announcing these auths is a priority, which I am working on currently. Seeing as this thread does concern my city, I felt the need to make a statement. And the fact that I would prefer not to just throw together some shit thread, but would rather put at least some effort into it. As far as Denver, he is not a rogue, and yes has been given permission. It was agreed upon by many people in our community that he can stay with me. Hayley runs off to create this oh so important thread. |

Honestly, the act of coming to the streets to announce a new auth should take a fraction of the time it took to truly deliberate over the worthiness of the candidates. Therefore if your auth is sound, the speech to announce him should have been ready to go before the tailor finished the last stitches on the bold suit. Nikki shrugs. Could be just me, I guess. I suppose this is the dawn of a new age in the world of organized crime. What with all the confusion, no one knows who's legitimate or not, hitsquads working in one man per one hour shifts, leaders concerned with answering questions for passersby but not concerned for the safety of their own family and captains enough to put out a statement of welcoming... I guess that's the new thing. Good luck with it. |

| Why Denver though? Again, I do NOT know all the circumstances, and I am sure that aside from last night's flub, he would make a really good leader. But Hayley, you're immediately giving auth to someone who left 40+ of your people unattended and unknowing of what was happening to go buy his own HQ. For several hours your people had no higher up member to turn to, as there was no RH, or LH period, and no leader in sight. How do you not at least have a little probationary period to make sure you've got the right guy for the job? | |

Ooooohhhh. I think that was sarcasm. You know what clued me in - the "OH" (That was sarcasm of my own.) sits in the bench on the streetcorner, and begins eating his popcorn. Oh this should be fun. I can't wait to see this big announcement. (damn, there's that sarcasm again.) Shame on me. I just can't help myself. I see sarcasm and I need to get involved. It is me. Are we now practicing retroactive authing? Hmmm. Now that's my serious question. |

From my understanding he was able to somehow steal her mail and continue to read it and reply to it. Even after he setup. I heard someone say it was a bit of some time of "bug". I'm not sure what that person was referring to. But yes he was still able to read her mail. |

I really don't know what that has to do with the price of tea in China, Mr. Stewart, but regardless of what was read or not read, the point is, as Mr. Pollitt alluded to that the retroactive nature of these auths has caused concern in the community and could have, if not directly responsible already, caused some people their lives. Its irresponsible leadership at best, and that's being generous. |

I'm sorry I meant some type of "bug". Not time. James laughs and walks off. |

Yes Thomas, there are a lot of circumstances surrounding this. I can also see your point, which I agree with. Being that he is set up, this will be a probationary period. I am working with what I have, making the best of it. Denver has always been there for me and the family, and I think he will do a good job. And James, yes it was a bug. It was taken care of immediately. |

chomps on a handful of popcorn without moving from his spot on the bench. Now we've resorted to ignoring? Sarcasm and ignoring? Whatever works, I suppose. I remain very interested in the retroactive nature of these auths. I also hear a lot of talk about Denver. Not so much about the other guy. Now, just to be clear. These are both valid auths? Because that other guy didn't look like he was very valid earlier today. But now, he has a little sticker and everything that says Authed by Hayley. Are you sure you want to claim that? waves his hands back and forth. Very mysterious. (Ha, there was that sarcasm again.) Damn! I'm sorry. I just can't help it. I say whatever! You're the leader. That means you're beyond reprouch. But just consider how this makes one look. And I guess consider whether the way one looks to the community matters. |
