While I agree with Thomas that DrTran is a whining sissy, I would also like to add that it is not cheapening the rank, nor is it purchasing the rank, if the crewleader is giving the blessing for the promotion. That is what is going on in this proposed arrangement, if you have not been paying attention. The only difference between this service and any other promotion is that Thomas is performing the promotion for a crewleader in situations where the crewleader is unable to promote themselves. I realize some of you are slow, so I will break it down, step by step... 1. Member "X" is interested in obtaining a promotion. Crewleader "X" wishes for that person to have this promotion, but is unable to give it due to circumstances beyond their control. 2. Crewleader "X" and Member "X" approach Thomas, asking for the service. 3. The member is temporary transferred to Thomas, where the ceremony is held, and then promptly returned to his or her original family. As you can see: - This only happens with the consent of Crewleader "X" - Consent would only be given if "Crewleader X" felt Member "X" deserved the rank - This would only be able to happen if Member "X" had earned the rank. "Payment for the rank" is not really what is happening here. Try to separate "rank" from "promotion". The crewleader and/or the member are paying for the SERVICE of performing the promotion. The RANK is earned. The SERVICE is only an option where the crewleader feels that the member both deserves and has earned the rank, or perhaps the crewleader just doesn't give a fuck either way. Whatever the case, the final call is made by "Crewleader X". Nothing happens without that consent, which necessarily implies that the rank is both earned and deserved. |

Dearest Humbug, I actually liked the thing you and Calcium are saying: "To agree with Calicum, it does seem like we are entering new times.... " The only problem I see with that is we've been "entering new times" for about 4 1/2 months, the entire reign of Detroit and the evolution of other cities as following that lead and shedding the shackles of previous norms has been about setting and keeping new precedents. When Godmother Marietta wanted 2 crews per city, when she brought the Fallen Angels to Detroit, Detroit IA Tax, Setting up multiple HQs in Detroit which was followed by Philly who also set up the Made Man Tax. Here's the long and thick of it guys, we can't be entering new times each time something happens. I'm not sure everything being done will be positive progress when the conclusion the story is finally written, but I can certainly say that I am proud, and often times amused, at the ways people have begun to differentiate between their cities, think up new moneymaking ventures (God forbid someone in this line of work try to do that), or try to draw crowds to their respective cities. Times have changed, are changing, will continue to change. I say that people who devote so much of themselves to trying to keep things 100% the way they were in the "old days" should just sit back and start to enjoy the ride a little bit more. |

Well, apparently the rank of Godfather has made you feel entitled to treat anyone in public as you please. Secondly, I don't understand what relevance there is to the fact that Stapled's choice in LHM, for the time being, happens to have the same rank as I do. We both answer directly to him, not him to me or vice versa. And in the case that you're saying that having a RHM and LHM at the same rank is wrong, then many CLs around this world of ours are just as wrong. Not to mention how many have RHM who are lower in rank than their LHM. So the moral of the story here clearly is that if you are a CL, with your RHM/LHM in these positions, according to Godfather Thomas, you are completely out of line, making a mockery of crew hierarchy, and are fair game to be ridiculed for your decision. Also, if you would have taken a second during your rage dump, you may have noticed that I said that even though I disagree with it, and after conferring with Stapled had decided that no one in our family would be participating, I also said that you are free to do as you please, and that it all comes down to the opinions of the parties involved. I had hoped to stimulate some respectful conversation or light debate on the topic by stating my opinion. Apparently that is not possible. I meant no offense to you, or your service, just was offering my opinion to this world of ours for those who were willing to hear it and respond respectfully to it, whether they agreed with it or not. |

| Are you saying that in your family, the LHM is not subordinate to the RHM? That's unusual. | |

Heh, basically just that "God" rules aren't usually all-known by all Gods based on their lengths of servitude, Fu-Manuju :P Although the start of that may be a bit of a tongue twister. Thomas watches DrTran re-appear with a flash from his holstered .38 special, and a puff of cigarette smoke. I'm saying the people who make their stance on the ethical responsibility of this about rank better have all their ducks in a row before dropping business cards at my feet in an effort for them to try to make me remember who they are. For instance, a RHM who is not of absolutely higher rank than everyone in his family shouldn't be coming out here and saying, "Problems arise when two people, of equal rank, hold different positions and different power." Oh really says the guy who shares a rank with the LHM? Thank you so much for that thoughtful input. Name: DrTran - (RHM) Rank: Capo Name: ITSJUSTAGAME - (LHM) Rank: Capo Do you have ANY idea how nullified and ridiculous your argument sounds when you phrase it exactly like that and it's a matter of public record to see that a subservient within your own family is of equal rank with you? I like opinions, and I love Street Debates, but when you make a statement condemning what I've done without remotely adhering to your own argument, then I'm going to feel very insulted as it it were a planned attack on my character. And at no point did I say rank or crew hierarchy had no importance either, I just think it's subjective all the way down the board. I have personally not met any grouping of leaders that have had one concrete view of how to rank importance by using the variables of rank and crew title. I'm fine respecting anyone's beliefs on the matter, but don't cast the stone unless you are completely "free of sin" as it were. |

"Before removing the speck from your brother's eye; remove the log from your own." Jesus said something like that, but fiction isn't applicable in our business so as you were folks! |

Just a small note, Thomas, I didn't say we were entering new times. I said we are in them, I see you agree so we are sorted on that front. That was a minor side comment in relation to my main points. I won't ask those questions again though, they remain there for all to see though, still unanswered for the most part, though I realise you are not necessarily in a position to answer (as you say, God rules aren't necessarily known by all and sundry at City Hall). I wonder if your right-hand man might have better contacts up at City Hall to clear this one up and end all the debate. This is the only area there can be much real debate about. Beyond that, we're just into personal opinions, which are fine, but there's only one opinion that matters after any "god policies" have been clarified. |

I'll believe it Calcium, I was more quoting Humbug who had said you said it. It was easier to take his word for it as it wasn't really a staying point in any part of the debate thus far. I just thought it was amusing how people (even if you hadn't said it, he did) still say that line about entering new times even though there have been gradual transformations happening for months. |
