Retirment. Succession. The Inbetween. Started by: Sal_Giaquinto on Mar 05, '09 11:20
The meeting had been a long one, and difficult, but not due to disagreements or discrepancies. It was hard to let go, but it had to be done, and Sal was very confident now about the future of New Orleans.... his city. But now that the matter was settled with himself, JimmyTheLionheart, High_SocWinter_Hill, Brick_Pollitt and Munchkin, he had one more place to make his announcement. So for one last time, at least in the foreseeable future, he took to the streets of New Orleans and informed the masses.

I'll make this as concise as possible, there is much to be done and talking never completed anything. I will be stepping down as leader of La Cosa Nostra N'Orleans and respectfully the Camarilla. My reasons are known to those who have been left to pick up where I am leaving off, and to the family I leave in capable hands. There comes a time in all of our lives where we must step back and focus on other ventures. Now is that time for me. Time for me to step back, and time for others to step forward.

I have named my successors; two men who will be setting up alongside Munchkin in the Big Easy. Together, this triumvirate will lead New Orleans into a period of stability and growth. I have full confidence in my two selections. They have served my family well, and will serve their own just as well. I'm proud to announce Brick_Pollitt and High_SocWinter_Hill as New Orleans' newest leaders.

Gentlemen, you have my confidence and my faith - I know you both will do good things along side Munchkin. Fellow mafiosos - offer these two the same respect you've granted to me.

Very disappointing, Sal, but I'm sure you have your reasons. Your wisdom and leadership was a beacon of hope in the South.

I'm sorry to see you stepping down, but the blow was softened by your excellent choices of successors. I look forward to working with Brick_P and High_Soc.

It's a sad thing to see you go, but everyone who does always has their reasons. Hopefully you will come back soon.

Brick stood behind Sal, and slightly to his left. He had been in the meeting with the others, understood the decision, and was ready to do his part. It was a difficult moment for Brick, who had been a part of Sal's family since the start, and worked with him before that with the Godfather of Philadelphia. But he understood his duty, and was ready. He extended his hand to Sal's as Sal concluded his speech, shook his hand, then hugged his mentor before beginning to speak.

Sal, this is truly bittersweet. I have enjoyed serving with you and working for you immensely. I have learned a lot about the code, and the way we should live. You've done it right, and I look forward to the day when you can come back to New Orleans and teach me some more. For now, I will go with the lessons I have learned, and try to teach others. I want to thank you for everything. You are one of a kind, and for those who don't know you, I am sad. For those who do know you, they will understand. You will always be the boss in New Orleans, and always worthy of my respect. I am sorry to see you take the break you are taking, but know that you, my friend, deserve it.

To the masses, I say, you will see a lot more from me today. Bear with me as I try desperately to fill shoes that are far too big.

Sal, it is a very sad thing to see a well-respected mobster such as yourself step down from his lofty position.

I have no doubt that your choices will prosper in New Orleans and work closely under ThomasRourke to help New Orleans continue to be the fine city it has always been.

It is very sad to see you go man. You have been a very good crew leader from the start, when i was in you crew and even when i am not you are still a great crew leader. We will miss you.

I am sorry to hear this terrible news Sal. You were a staple of New Orleans, as original as the Cajun food you loved. You will be sorely missed out of my camp of bandits.

Contact me upon the return of your kin, if and when that time does come.

Awe, Sallypants, this is poop. You've done a fantastic job and it has been a pleasure to work with you. This thing of ours will miss your leadership.

Congrats to Brick_Pollitt and High_SocWinter_Hill. I'm sure they will do well.

Good luck with your future ventures Sally, you know where I am if you ever want to go out for a beer or ten.

Sal. It saddens me greatly to see you stepping down. I hope whatever it is causing this goes well for you.

Although I am saddened that your are stepping down Sal, I am glad you have chosen life over death. I have had the men in Philly prepare for your arrival and we are planning a feast.

You have chosen 2 exceptional people to succeed you and I am sure along with Munchkin they will make sure New Orleans see its just value.

May your final moments as a leader at this time be memorable ones. We will await for your arrival here in Philly.

Should you need anything till then brother, please let me know.

Well Sal, we all have our time when we know we need to take a step back. We've all been there in the past. I wish you all the best in your future endeavors.

Many congratulations to both Brick and High_Soc. I look forward to seeing what you both can do alongside Munchkin to help New Orleans grow in stature and prestige.

*Fu sighed as he stood back and watch his mentor, his brother, his leader and his lifetime friend make the hardest decision of his life.

Fu knew what this was costing him inside but he knew that there was no other choice that Sal could have made.

It was time to relocate yet again, but he would follow Sal anywhere, fire, flood or famine, his life was as Sals shadow and that is where he wanted to be.

Fu started to scan the newspaper for deals on heavy duty luggage as well as places where he could buy massive numbers of violin cases.

Internet stood with the rest of the crowd, looking somber.

Sal, I'm not very good with long goodbyes and all that. I would however, like to thank you for giving me a chance when I was naught but a lowly thug, for taking me in, introducing me to the family, helping me out whenever I needed help, and most of all for trusting me. I never thought I could've gone this far.

Grazie.

Good luck in your ventures my friend.

First and foremost, I wish to extend my sincerest gratitude to Sal, Jimmy and SeanConnery. It is with your mentoring, advice, and belief in me, that has brought me to this point. It is with great joy that I accept this honor to step up and be part of something greater. With Philadelphia at my back and New Orleans by my side, I know I can go far. I have seen the Kings of the past list here what It is they wish to accomplish. I will not be doing so and will instead let you all see it for yourselves in time. I have been shown the ways of Our Thing and now will pass that knowledge on to others who once walked the same path. Thank you Sal for this chance to show you what I'm made of. Thank you Jimmy, for believing in me. Finally, thanks is owed to all others who have helped me in every way, be it small or grand. Draven's coaching, Squishy's Superbowl squares, and even SeanConnery's vampire like charm, all have helped make me who I am today and set me up for who I am to become. Honor and Virtue are two traits I will try to hold close to me as I proceed into the next chapter ofmy stay here, for what we do In life echoes In eternity.

Thank You All Again :)

Very Sad to see you step down Mr Gianquinto. Our family lines have gone back a while now, I respect you and where you came from.

I am happy to see you have chosen a couple men to be your successor. I hope they bring the same respect and honor to the streets as you once did.

Sal. My friend.

Sal, you are a true gentleman. You took me on even with my blood's jaded history, you put your trust in me and you Made me. The honour of being a family head had never been so deserving until you found your place.

Honourable, Respectable, Dependable. Such words are thrown around far too much, but you belong in all 3 categories. You have the patience and mercy of a saint (you know what I mean). Always willing to listen, always willing to help. You were there for your family. My ancestors always held your blood in high regard and it's not hard to see why.

I am truly distraught that you have come to this decision, although I understand and RESPECT it.

P.S. You leave me in quite a predicament, I find myself wondering whether to carry on with this lifestyle, weighing up the pro's and con's. I mean this as no slight on High_Soc or Brick, as they are fine men with great morale courage, but I don't want to serve under anyone else.
