Apple Orange Tomato (The Hit) Started by: Marietta on Mar 15, '09 07:59
Bullshit. All of it was just utter bullshit. After one of the most hectic and head-aching days that the woman had experienced in quite some time, Marietta Rossi, Godfather of Detroit, had come back to her HQ to find a handwritten note from her secretary on her desk. Standing still in her sleek, black rain coat, her blonde hair covered by her sharp black hat, she dripped rain droplets onto her clean white carpet as she stood, transfixed, staring at the tiny piece of paper. While she had been attending to business contracts with the Godfather of Philly, it seemed her Captain HydroPhonic had called and left a rather hurried and disturbing message.

She had picked it up delicately, not knowing what to expect as she clutched it between her hands. Her green eyes darted back and forth wildly while she read, slowly they grew wider and wider. Marietta couldn't believe it; a vein began to pulse ragingly in her forehead. After everything that had happened today, this just *had* to be the fucking icing on the cake. Crunching the note with a growl she muttered:

"That fucking sleaze ball."

Dashing over towards her office door she pulled it wide open and holler towards her secretary in a rage, "KATHERINE! I NEED A TICKET ON THE NEXT FLIGHT OUT TO NEW YORK. IMMEDIATELY!"

Slamming her office door shut she shook her head, slowly gathering her necessary belongings for her impromptu flight and trip. Quietly she complained to herself; how she had desperately wanted a quiet evening to herself with a nice novel and a glass of wine. Shaking her head to silence herself she continued to forage for her gun. She had a visit to pay to a certain Godfather.

Six Hours Later

Marietta folded down her umbrella, tucking it neatly underneath her armpit as she dashed up the steps of the old, brick building that loomed before her. When she reached the top she wasted no time knocking loudly several times upon the very solid dark wood door. She waited impatiently, bouncing up and down on the balls of her feet when at last the entrance was opened- if only but a crack. A pair of dark eyes and a shadowed figure appeared from beyond her sight. "Yes?" a gruff voice barked so demanding.

"Oh!" she exclaimed in surprise, rushing towards the door gratefully. "Hello, yes, hi. I'm Marietta Rossi, I've come to speak to Thomas Rourke, if you please?"

The eyes narrowed suspiciously and the door didn't budge an inch either way. "And?" the voice challenged. "Do you havesan appointmen'?"

"Pfft, no I don't have an-" Marietta said snidely, but when she noticed the door start to close she wedged the tip of her high heeled shoe into the jam. The door crushed her toes painfully and the woman winced but with a grit of her teeth she narrowed her eyes back at the figure.

"Look here, pal. Thomas and I are old friends and if you know what's good for you you'll let me in right this instant to see him. The last thing you want me doing is making a scene and causing trouble for your boss, and oh- believe you me, I can cause a fucking riot if I wanted to."

The eyes widened for a moment before retaining their steely gaze. Like clockwork Marietta could almost see the gears moving behind the person's forehead, and without another second of deliberation the door closed.

"OH!" Marietta cried in outrage, stomping her foot. "Well you ASKED FOR IT ASSHOLE!" she screamed, completely flying off the handle and throwing her fists upon the front door. She continued to hammer at the door, screaming unintelligible words for a full minute before the door was opened once more. Not able to stop herself one of Marietta's fists went flying into the barrel chest of a one mister Thomas Rourke.

"Oh dear God," the woman gasped, placing both of her hands to her mouth and dropping her umbrella in surprise. "Ohhh Thomas, I am so sorry," she said in a mousy manner to the much larger, much taller dark-haired man. Her cheeks were burning bright in embarrassment and in her chest her heart was hammering a million miles per minute. With a small sigh to herself she looked up at the Godfather once more and remembered why, in that moment, she was there. Shoving aside her girlish feelings she stood up straight and squared her shoulders.

"Thomas," she said in a business-like tone, "We need to talk."

The man merely smirked in return, amused, before stepping aside. With a sweeping motion of his hand he invited her inside. Shaking her head and rolling her eyes Marietta stomped inside, making sure to leave extra droplets of rain on the nice polished wooden floors, hoping secretly they would be ruined.

Thomas lead her through a hallway and in through a set of double doors leading into his office. Stepping inside she immediately shrugged off her coat, tossing it onto a chair and sitting immediately in a vacant seat across from the large, mahogany desk. The Godfather, after closing the door, stepped across the length of the office and sat down in his leather chair. "Alright, speak."

"So rude, Thomas," Marietta replied, shaking her head. "You're certainly in no position to be demanding things from me at all."

Shooting her a quizzical look Thomas leaned forward closer to her. Marietta sighed and leaned forward towards him as well.

"Alright, perhaps that was a bit dramatic of me. Listen, I'm going to level with you. You know I was all on board for your crew experimentation but it's crossed the line. One of the men working on your turf... Juice, I believe his name is? He's gone and dug himself a fucking grave."

"Uhhh," Thomas said, staring at Marietta speechlessly.

"I know, I know, I'll explain. Look, I love new crews. New crews are good for business, for everyone, right? I don't care what they do or how they do it, but the second that someone interferes in my business, I've got to take action."

Leaning back against the chair Marietta sighed once more.

"Juice shot one of my guys tonight, Thomas. Without even a fucking nod towards me or my girl H.P. There was no reason why, or how. Just next thing we know one of ours is gone and another one of mine is coming forward having been the witness. You know me, Tommy. You know how I react in situations like that. I shoot the guy! It's different though this time. I... you're a Godfather now, and I've got to respect your business assets. I'm not going to go shooting up men and women like you do during your Rourke parades."

Marietta pulled a slip of paper out of the breast pocket on her blouse and passed it over towards Mister Rourke slowly, maintaining eye contact.

"That, there, is my bank information. I'm still going to shoot the guy, Thomas, but I don't to put a dent in your wallet. I'm going to make you an offer... you can't refuse."

Raising an eyebrow at herself momentarily she shook it off and smiled towards the man.

"You turn a blind eye to me and my men coming into New York and taking care of our Juice problem, and I can guarantee that a large lump sum of cash from my personal bank account finds it way into your own safe. What do you say? Do we have ourselves an understanding?"
Report Post Tip
Thomas cleared his throat.

"Well as you know, none of the families in New York are or will be operated by me. Our business begins and ends with the the weekly tribute they make to me. Now if that tribute were to somehow become interrupted due to a sudden death in the city, it would certainly be upsetting to me."

Thomas took a glance at the slip of paper and nodded his approval.

"I guess Detroit's business ventures have kept you pretty flush Marietta. I can appreciate the reasoning behind your want to see Juice's short reign come to an end, and as I stated in my initial speech each crew is subject to be held accountable for the mistakes they make without my intervention. I also know that leaders shouldn't impact other leaders' bottom lines and I know your Captain in question has had a tough time retaining members as of late so losing yet another source of income couldn't have been easy. It's all about the money we make and how we use it to prosper, so I think the arrangement you are proposing is mutually beneficial. Happy hunting, and I look forward to seeing my own bank account get a few more zeros added to the end of it."

Thomas escorted Marietta to the door so he could head to bed. He found it amusing that Juice had set up with the promise of earning Thomas money, and his demise was about to make him a very rich man.

Someone was a silly twat then wasn't he. Still, this kind of auth system is always going to throw up the odd muppet, I'm sure it'll throw up the odd gem too.
Report Post Tip
What irritates me is that this is the same Juice who's fathers before him fucked up so many times, I saw Juices I through IV get shot down before Juice V made it this far.

How he found auth I don't know, maybe without the ego boost and better gun our friend might still be alive today.
Report Post Tip
Godmother, I must say I do admire the way you handled the situation. Through anger and rage, you managed to maintain a respectful and business like stand point. You handled the situation with the untmost respect but made sure it was known you were not going to be pushed around. That Detroit is all your family and you are going to take whatever means to be sure we are safe. Giving demands is an Honor you have earned by receiving Godmother and you are sure to use it wisely, pick your battles if I may.

You have proven yourself time and time again to be a very competent leader and I do believe I speak for all of Detroit when I say, Thank you, we are happy to have you here and under your protection the only way to go is up.

Bravo.

Louis, I think you need to be reminded that none of these people are "authed" in the traditional sense. They heard my speech in the streets and told me they believe they could be of value to the operations in New York. Juice accepted the challenge. I'm sure he lacked polish, but money's money, and I certainly just made bank.

Thomas chuckles gleefully.

People are given a chance to prove their family line has changed, and if they were given a button, must of showed they had learnt X amount so far I would hope. Unfortunately, not everyone sees the opportunity as the challenge it is and end up floating deep in the hudson or found a few days later in a dark alley way.
Report Post Tip
yea we give gangster like this a chance and they spit it right back in your face................i dont get it? y oh y would he do that he must know what would happen?!!! no?!!

r well letrs move onto the next auth.....lets see how he/she gets on :)

I am happy to give a guy a chance after a cock up, but not mer weeks after a series of cock ups, regaining trust is something that shouldn't be paid for or gambled with.

I myself had an incident regarding Juice's family line, though I cannot recall exactly what happened, but a member of my family was attacked and it was reported to his family head. I later saw him in the obits.

Had it been my place to say I would have argued against this man being granted with the power and skill that quite possible cost CH their life, I just can't believe it wasn't obvious to people to start with.

Detroit lost one of it's people because of a severe lapse in judgement and a ignorant approach to our way of life, a Crew Leader shooting at members of other families is, blatently, a rogue.

But this wasn't a Crew Leader turned rogue, in essence this is a rogue that was given auth to set up shop, buy a bold suit that I worked my ass off to be granted with. He bought whatever respect people had for him, put on the suit that people see as figures of power and authority, but at the same time trust in their judgement and ability, and then just carried on as if he were straight off the boat, with total ignorance to the way things work.

And whats worse than this? Is we all let him do this, "we", the modern community, let this happen. We didn't sell him the suit, but we sure as hell stood by and watched, might as well have watched him pull the trigger on CH, or anyone else he may have decided to target, any one of you.

There should be so much more to this world than just money. Respect and honour at the top of the list, anyways.

don gatto i dont think i could agree with you more.."once bitten twice as shy" no?! the screening process to be authed must be a bit more RUTHLESS than this............?!

on what basis do we auth people?

ok everyone shud get a second chance we all make mistakes thats the gangster way!

im all for people getten authed and given a chance to make there way in our wolrd, but surley we must look at the bigger picture whaen making such big decisions?!

any way i hope he learnt from his mistakes.infacet all of us learn :)

After listening to what had happened and amid all the noise from the crowds, Cruel pushes forward alongside Louis to put his two cents worth in

This has to be one of the most dis-respectful things i have came across during my time here. Having been given the chance to run his own family in his brand new suit, this guy then goes and shoots at a sponsored mafioso form the Godmother's> family! Without even batting an eyelid or thinking about speaking to the Godmother first?!! That is just plain suicidal and beyond my imagination. One can only think what was going through Juice_V's head, which was probably nothing.

This episode seems like a tragic case of "ZOMG I AM A CREWLEADER! I CAN DO WHATEVER I WANT AND GET AWAY WITH IT!"

I can not believe he was allowed to set up despite previous screw-up's by himself and his bloodline. He has let himself down and indeed Godfather Thomas who kindly gave him a brilliant opportunity. Hopefully this will be a warning to the other's who seek auth, hopefully we will not see another incident like this.

Cruel steps down and makes his way back to his corner.

LouisGato... I think you need to remember a few things before you open your mouth like that. First of all, New York is my city, if you ever get your own city you can decide how you make money. This is my way of doing it, and it won't change. Secondly, if record stands correct you are still just a Captain for Detroit, so you speaking out of line like this goes against the stance of Detroit on this issue, and I invite you to look up your role in all of this again. Thirdly, how about you don't tell me how to run my outfit, and I won't tell you how to run yours. You know the part where you have 6 people being part of some silly rogue underground that you later have to execute.

There's been a lot made about disrespect lately Louis, and the consequences of it. I sincerely hope you remember what happens to people around here when they start getting a little loose in the lips.

Godfather ThomasRourke, With all due respect. Yes He is just a captain and has himself earned this place in the world. I believe he has earned the right to his opinion and once something has come public anyone has the right to voice their two cents. You like many may not agree with what is being said but that leaves no room for insulting him.

What is done in your City is your business. It is run the way you like because you have earned your position in this world of ours. Not everyone will always agree with the way cities are run, vioce their opinions respectfully if they may, but in the end all they can do is deal with it. Point is, they are just words and in a fairly respectfuly and well thought out manner, Mr. Gato vioced his opinion.

mr lessthen i dont think i could have put it any better myself, we come here on he streets amoung all other ranks tom voice our opinions.

ok somtimes there not always right, nut then again no always wrong,i think that gatto has a valid point not just because he is my CL but because i am a rational man.

i dont think nobody is questioning your abillity to run your city mr rourke, but infact the questiopn once again should be raised

"on what basis do we get authed"

Louis, I don't even know where to begin with your comments. You are showing that you do not fully understand this way of life, all the while leveling the same criticism towards Juice. You cannot judge a man by his ancestors. If we did that, I assure you that there would be very few around here who could walk the street without being shot at. However, you are talking about Juice as if he and his ancestors were one in the same. "Had it been your place" to decide whether or not Thomas runs his city in a certain way, you might have denied someone an opportunity based on your perceptions of his ancestor's integrity. It is lucky for us, then, that IT IS NOT YOUR PLACE to tell Godfather Rourke how to run New York, and you should probably keep that in mind for future reference. I might remind you, that there are a few distinguished Dons in Detroit who would never have been given opportunities if their ancestors were scrutinized. The late Don Obizzle and Don Hypno had some ancestors who were some of the most unruly motherfuckers ever to wear a pinstriped suit. I know...my ancestors used to run with them and raise holy hell.

Concerning what you call a "severe lapse in judgment and a ignorant approach to our way of life", I believe it is you who is ignorant about our way of life. Sad that this accusation must be made to someone who is a Don in Detroit. What exactly is the "ignorant approach" that Godfather Rourke made in this instance? Trying to make money? He made it perfectly clear that anyone to branch out in New York did so without his protection, so he was not creating a personal liability in allowing Juice to begin operations in New York. Had Godfather Rourke personally scrutinized every candidate to decide who he felt was worthy, how would that be any different to the traditional auth system? Rourke is trying to do something different, but carefully made sure that those who settled in New York were responsible for their own actions. Godfather Rourke's only interest in this arrangement is creating income for his true family. How is that an ignorant approach to our way of life? I should remind you, that what happens outside of New York is not a concern to the New York Godfather, and he is fully cognizant of the ramifications of his actions. Your next comment further proved yourself to be naive to our way of life. A crewleader makes his own decisions. If he decides that someone in another family should be shot, and shoots them, this is not the act of a rogue. It is the act of a Crewleader making a decision after weighing the benefits and liabilities of his actions. THIS IS WHAT CREWLEADERS DO! They make decisions and take responsibility for their actions. So, the other night when several families in our two cities started shooting up Las Vegas and Chicago, were we a bunch of rogues? Hmmmm? No, we were under the orders of crewleaders who made decisions to take certain actions.

Finally, what is this nonsense?:

"And whats worse than this? Is we all let him do this, "we", the modern community, let this happen. We didn't sell him the suit, but we sure as hell stood by and watched, might as well have watched him pull the trigger on CH, or anyone else he may have decided to target, any one of you."

Just what are you suggesting? A fucking mutiny of the goombas and wiseguys in the lower ranks? And who is this "community" you are referring to? God, that really makes my ass itch. The mafia is not a community. We are an underground criminal organization, not a community. Anyhow, back to the point, if you are suggesting that the associates of the crews in these cities should intervene and interfere with Godfather Rourke's business, then you have some balls, my friend. You should probably bite your tongue now, before you say something even stupider and insult my Godfather again.
Report Post Tip
Butt_Ox, once again the man has the rights to his opinions. You came to the streets and insulted him repeatedly in your response. Now tell me what does that say? An earner insulting a Don and Captain of Detroit?

Your Godfather has not been insulted, just because someone does not like this initial plan of action does not mean he does not respect the man as a whole.

For instance, I do not agree with the course of action and am not afraid to say so because once again they are just words, my sould opinion on the matter. And once again in the end of the day it is Mr. Rourkes city to do with as he wishes. I have no say in what he does, I dont care to tell him how to run the city in which he is the Godfather in, and most of all I do not care to see the utter disrespect that has gone on.

You are an associate of Godfather ThomasRourke's family. Don LouisGato is a Don, Captain and respected man of Detroit.
Report Post Tip
but_ox on some level i agree man. but lets be rational......as a rule we ont judge people on there fam line but i beleive this is the 3rd time with him now if thats all we got to go by on the way he is treated and respected, then thats the only way he can be judged right???

mr butt_ox, i think we need to all calm down man........there was no disrispect on our part, but ti state the obviouse that it wasnt the first time that the person in question had caused a "problem" in our world!!

i also disagree with yor statemen "The mafia is not a community".....i mean of course were a community! even tho we all have our diferent roles with our crew and our respective cities, in the bigger picture and for most parts we all work together to iron out little problems like this right?

ultimatley is the person in question really this important to start all this over?

the problem has been dealt with and hopeull will learn THIS TIME ROUND.

LessThan, there's a difference between voicing an opinion, and cocking off:

"Detroit lost one of it's people because of a severe lapse in judgement and a ignorant approach to our way of life"

That my boy, is not an innocent opinion, that is a comment meant to be abrasive and offending to the listener. Thusly, I know Marietta pretty well, we talk daily, and have been in constant contact over this most recent issue with Juice V. She has made it abundantly clear that she fully supports the New York initiative that I put into place. Louis has earned respect in your small circle, but he's only a Captain, and with that comes the responsibility to fully adhere to the wishes and views of those who outrank him in the city of Detroit.

Furthermore, I'm not even sure of Louis' involvement in all of this. CH was a Goomba from a crew that wasn't even his. That's like me defending Brian Rourke getting killed eventually instead of Godfather Marietta.

And sadly you just said it yourself LessThan:

"Don LouisGato is a Don, Captain and respected man of Detroit."

This isn't Detroit. In Detroit he can hold the ears of listeners with his thoughts and opinions. In the Streets he is a Captain with what should be nothing to show for it but utter recognition and obedience to the will of the city of Detroit.
Report Post Tip
You make a valid point in regards to "This is not Detroit"

But once again sir, Not everyone is going to like everyones rules and business propositions in other cities. Its life they can say their words then get over it, and with out defensive insults, the person that runs the city, can carry on as well.

Thank you.
