Beneath the Relentless Casino on the fabled Sunset Strip, men and women gather. They've flown in from all across the country as world traveled through the grapevine of important news in Las Vegas. Some enter the casino slowly, quietly appraising the situation and the crowds, and some enter in walking briskly, laughing and talking with their friends and associates. Eventually everyone makes their way through the casino to a small auditorium in the back. It is organized in seven sections and men and women from each of the cities quickly move to get seats near the front. At the forefront facing the stage are four large seats, almost thronelike in their opulence, with smaller seats in a single row behind them. On the right sits JimmyTheLionheart, flanked by his wife Akasha, -Rusko-, and Giovanni. ThomasRourke sits next to him, with Premier, Persian, and Phantom Ghost seated behind in the New York section. And next to ThomasRourke sits Marietta, playfully whispering in the ear of her bodyguard Pedro, with Cruel, SalvatoreGato, Death-Knight, and HydroPhonic quietly talking amongst themselves in the seats behind her. The fourth large chair sits empty.
Turning away from the Godfathers, you notice the delegations from the other cities arriving. Nicky and TM-Scarface from Chicago walk in and take their seats, followed by Vicodin, Luxuria, and Shagtastic from Los Angeles. Brick_Pollitt from New Orleans walks swiftly in through the doors and directs his men towards their seats. Everyone was here- whatever it was, it must be important.
As you take your seat, a man steps out onto the small stage. You recognize MacLeod from his discussions in the street, and you quiet down to listen to what he has to say.
Ladies and gentlemen. Distinguished guests. I welcome you to Las Vegas on behalf of all of us who live and work here, and hope that you have a pleasant stay. Obviously one would not call all the families together for a meeting unless it was for something of the utmost importance.
MacLeod stops for a moment and clears his throat.
While I am personally against a noticeable trend of superfluous congratulatory threads, I believe that in this case it is entirely justified. Hypno, you have worked hard and led your family for a long time now. Your work has spanned the entire country and your actions have sent ripples throughout our world. And so today, it is my great honor, and my great pleasure, to announce that Hypno has achieved the rank of Godfather.
MacLeod steps back and applauds his Godfather, who has emerged to take the empty seat next to JimmyTheLionheart, ThomasRourke, and Marietta. Hypno smiles and nods as the gathered men and women softly applaud and offer their congratulations. |
