The Suicide Abused Started by: McLovin on May 14, '09 01:23
It was a sunny day in the great city of Detroit. McLovin heads out onto the streets and he begin to speak.

A couple days ago Godmother Marietta asked my opinion about memberwhoring for her newspaper, The Chronicle. And my opinion was that I'm straightly rejecting the memberwhoring policy.

After a few minutes though, I realize that this is a crime world, and there is no fair or unfair in the crime world. We are all 'legal' to do anything to getting a new member, getting accepted into a family and getting promotions as long we don't piss the upper ranks or upper structure off and we have their permission.

Yesterday, I received a massage from my Crew Leader, and she was very furious about some members who have chosen the suicide route to end their lives. The question is what are their motives to do that, do they really want to retire? Or are they just wanting to restart with another crew that "they think" can give them a more easy route on everything? After all it is not so hard to get accepted in a crew these days, because all people are needed to build up their strength.

If someone has chosen the retired way to restart their bloodline with other families, please consider this first:

I know we all have a freedom to choose which crew to serve, but I think the Crew Leader that already gives you a spot in their crew deserves your loyalty and respect. So please stop jumping from one crew to another and don't use the weakness of recruiting policy for tasting or comparing one crew with another crew.

I don't know if we must blame the new member recruiting policies, because we all know that all crews need members to build up their strength, and all people need a crew to survive.

Thank you for your time to hearing my speech.

Maybe they want better living conditions. I don't know what its like with you but you have to consider the fact that it might be your problem and that people are retiring because they don't like it.

Isn't that exactly what defines what is deemed improper behaviour? We are not able to do anything we wish because the upper structure sets the accepted boundaries on what we can and cannot do. It is the only way to keep organized crime exactly that; organized.

I think that if people don't believe that they are making an effort in one life that if they choose to come back as someone else they should be aloud. If committing suicide or retiring is the route they want to take then let them do it. It's their choice whether they want to live a certain way or not. That's just my opinion.

Joining a family means that you have given up all your life, your ability, your wealth, your will, your everything in short, for the glory of your family. So your life doesn't belong to you anymore, it belongs to your family. Period.
Report Post Tip
Yes is not my problem and i never say "not allowed". but try this when you restart and you want to apply in any crew..

Hi my name is XXXX,

i would like to join you family. and i will ........................

thank you,

PS : but i want to try your Crew first, if i like your crew i will stay and if i don't i will suicide.

"Try your crew first?"

I don't think that will work too well. This brings up the issue of hopping from Family to Family. Someone could bring up issues about every little thing, and then go to whatever crew they want. Instead of sticking to it until the end. Even if they do decide to take the cowards way and suicide.
Report Post Tip
my focused is on "suicide way for moving to another crew"

if someone die because of other thing and want to joint other crew is fair enough for me..

Correction,

"Yesterday, I received a message from my Crew Leader"

not

"Yesterday, I received a massage from my Crew Leader"

Thank you to Sir AlfonsiTimello for your correction, my bad :)

I agree with AvantGarde.. when you join a family you are basically making an oath of loyalty to that family for your entire life, so essentially you life belongs to your CL that you serve and what you do with it is no longer up to you, you do what you are told to by your superiors. So really its not up to you to decide that you would like to end your own life. Or worse yet just retire and leave.

Sounds to me like these crews want to have their cake and eat it, too. If they are going to hand keys to their HQs to every thug that passes by them in the street, then what in the hell do they expect? Exemplary members? No, they are going to get just what they are pandering for - street scum.

It is supposed to be difficult to join the mafia. We are a secret society, not the local YMCA. If crewleaders do things the way they are supposed to be done in the recruiting process, they might both teach the new member the significance of joining a family and also ensure that they will not abandon ship at the first sign of discontent.

But hey, this is old news. If these guys want to learn all over again what many of us have known for years, let them do it.

How exactly does a dead man join a new crew? I mean, isn't he, you know, dead?

My father died suddenly last night.

Whilst i was sitting on the back porch strumming my one string guitar I heard a loud bang. Going inside to investigate i discovered a large hole in his face where his usual big red nose was. His usual pristine clown makeup was spotted with blood. The wall behind him looked like a map of a blood river delta, the occaisonal lump of brain and splinter of bone forming islands as blood trickeled to the floor.

HAWT DAM!

I explained outloud. It would seem my father was of the old country supersitiously believing that if he shot at himself with the full intention of missing the bad karma it would create would make anyone elses bullets miss. This as he discovered was no longer the case and so when the local fuzz came round to investgate his death went down as a suicide.

Not the accidental death it should have been.

The moral of the story being:

"A sure cure for seasickness is to sit under a tree"

Within respect the very title of this speech 'The Suicide Abused' is quite flawed. Someone can't really abuse suicide as, once you commit the act - your quite dead and unable to continually commit the act.

From a leader's prescriptive it is frustrating to see someone you've invested in end their own life.

But sometimes it's a necessaity. Think back to Mark Anthony after his defeat and shame to Octavius. Anthony ended his own life, he was doomed to die anyways - but because he ended his own life, he kept his dignity and honor.

The same is true here, there have been times when the knife or the gun was passed across the table and the dishonorable party was given the opportunity to regain their honor and dignity by taking their own life.

It many cases it's a frustrating thing, should we look down on these people? I don't think so. The dead are dead and I don't believe in saying an ill word about a dead man. Let the dead rest and living go about their business.

Thats exactly what I was trying to say but my uneducated stumblings must sound uncouth to one as learned in the life and times of people who star in carry on films.

All this talk of restart is also addling my already scrambled brain. Do we have multiple deities (Telemachus allowing) roaming around us able to reincarnate at will?

Once dead you are dead?

If all death means is to leave the streets long enough to change your clothes and come back as a new person...Would you speed up or slow down? Just to go through the same process again.

These people who have lemmingitis let them die let them fall. Once there bloodline finds there niche in our world they will do there upmost to survive.

This is an interesting topic because often the choice to take your own life is preceded by an overwhelming pressure to do something a person wouldn't want to do. In this case a person has trouble accepting the life they are currently involved in and they have to choose between living against their own will and choosing to end everything. These people commit suicide in the hopes that their children will be more fortunate than they were. Though suicide is more often a case of self-imposed natural selection.

What some of these people don't realize is that when they give up so easily on this world, their children also will have the tendency to make similar bad decisions. Whether their children's bad decisions will include suicide is not clear but the fact a bloodline isn't likely to stick with their leadership through thick and thin is an obvious concern. It's often said "the apple doesn't fall far from the tree", which, when it is true, gives me the most cause for worry about the future of some.

I agree in the aspect that loyalty is key in this game. However both newcomers getting a message that "Join a crew within 48 hours, or your dead" as well as the minor requirements that come along with the ability to suicide/retire cause a good amount of members to do such. Either way, I think that there should be limit on how frequently you can make a new character, pending on the death status. Suicides, if you so choose, grant you a week suspension per time. it would definitly put a slow on the crew hopping, suicide bombers that are flooding MR. Most definitly not a solution, however it still is a hopeful suggestion ;]

Now a days all it takes is a pulse to get into a family, ask the next of kin that walks onto our streets how many offers into multiple different familys they recieve..

This does not apply to all, but I even see people projecting "Selective Recruitment, or recruiting the best etc" who will invite a half mobsters half cop into their family to up their numbers and increase their dividends and strength.

So until those members actually start to mean something to the family's - they shouldnt care less if the mobsters decide to take the easy way out and blow their own brains out, I mean you cant really stop it? Unless you stalk their children and murder them over and over.. which is a whole different topic.

It's really hard to have a family you have worked for, people you trust and are proud to work with and then to watch one of them suicide with little or no explanation.

Maybe they don't owe anyone an explanation, who knows? But in a crew where people are carefully recruited and where expectations are high, it's dissapointing to say the least.

While I might simply be the exception that proves the rule, my own experience was quite the contrary. I wandered the streets, through a speakeasy or two and across a couple of our cities before being welcomed into my current home. In all that time, I had nobody from any family approach me.

While one persons experience is never representative of the current situation, I felt it pertinant to share my experience with those who believe member whoring is rife across the cities.
