Respect Started by: Guevara on Feb 13, '15 17:04

Che's conversation with his right hand man was beginning to grate on him. He was fed up of the description of, in very graphic terms, the best friend of Ken - a certain James Westfall. Finally sensing a break in the conversation for him to jump into, Guevara told his number two that he needed to cut the chat short to talk business with a few of his associates. Moving tables to where a few of his bruisers were playing cards, he signaled for them to pour him a drink and deal him in before he began to speak.

The notion of 'respect' is one that guides almost every decision we make in this thing of ours and people quite literally live and die according how their respect is measured by others. With that in mind, it's strange to me that we view respect as we do, as a wholly simple concept with not a lot of grounds for debate. We treat the notion of respect as a dichotomous, absolute and discrete measure. There can only be respect or, in the absence of that, disrespect. It's a black and white measure with little room for neutrality; or at least that's the reality that we project in our discussions. Bizarre, as the reality all around us does not reflect that.

I'll give an example - an event which inspired this speech, actually. In Cloud's speech to auth Louis-Manciagli. Some individuals bucked the trend of the traditional 'congratulations' to ask what, to my mind, were legitimate questions. These questions were neither respectful nor disrespectful; they were just neutral. Yet, respect is has become such a polarised issue that many simply assume that the absence of respect is disrespect in and of itself. That's wrong.

The misconceptions about respect don't end there. Respect is so frequently seen as a one-size-fits-all concept, and that's wrong too. Respect can be assigned, or it can be earned. Let me explain.

"I don't care about your opinion. Why should I respect you? You're just a goomba!"

"You have to list to what I say because I'm a made guy!"

"I'll mug you if I want, just because you're a Capo and I'm and Earner doesn't mean I should respect you!"

All of these statements are paraphrased versions of events that occur daily, and they're all fucking stupid. Sure, the man who is a goomba doesn't have a position that dictates he should be respected but perhaps he consistently makes insightful contributions or otherwise carries himself in a way that is worthy of respect for him as an individual. Sure, the made guy has more rights and freedoms in what he says because his rank offers him that ability but just because we respect his right to do that as a result of his position doesn't mean we necessarily have to respect or even listen to his opinion as an individual because it might be idiotic. And lastly, if you're an Earner who's pickpocketed by a Capo then no one is suggesting that you have to respect that individual, but you sure as shit better respect that button pin on his lapel or you'll have a baaaad time.

When we're on this topic of associating respect for the individual with respect for the rank we need to look at where we derive our sense of respect from. Do I respect Curtis because he's my Boss? No. No. Dios mio, a thousand times no! The opposite is true. Curtis is my Boss because I respect him. My respect for him is, first and foremost, an individual respect. I respect his values, his principles and the actions he takes that are the result of these values; and everything else follows from that. If you are asked 'Why do you respect your Crewleader/Godfather/Right Hand Man?' and the best answer you can come up with is "Because they are my Crewleader/Godfather/Right Hand Man' then either you need to re-evaluate your outlook or your superiors need to re-evaluate the way they carry themselves.

Perhaps my outlook is formed by my collectivist opinions, and my natural tendency to be distrustful of a bourgeoisie authority, but let me return to my earlier example. Cloud has authed Mr. Manciagli. I will have a respect for his position because that is the natural order of our thing. If his position is disrespected then it is a disrespect visited upon everyone in his position. That doesn't mean I have to respect him though. He must earn that right, and the nod of one man to start family does not get you close. The same applies to me, too, and to any other leader. When Curtis gave me the nod, I would expect my position to be respected, but I would also expect people to say 'What has he done? He was his Godfather's right hand man, and the bloodlines of Curtis and Guevara go back a long time; just because Curtis authed him, that means I should respect him?' And beyond expecting people to ask those questions, I would argue these people would be right to ask them. It is up to me, and only me, to earn people's respect for me, Guevara, the man.

I'll tell you why the nod of a crewleader or a Godfather is not enough, incidentally. Individuals are people, they are corruptible and they make mistakes. There can be judgement errors, there can be tactical decisions and there can be simple nepotism. The opinion of one man cannot be trusted; but the opinion of the people as a collective - that's the real benchmark. In the case of Mr. Manciagli, what is crucial is that the people have made their tacit approval known. Not a single one of those 40 individuals in Downtown Detroit have publicly questioned that auth. Not a single one of those 16 button men have complained that they were passed over. To me, that speaks of a collective respect for Mr Manciagli as an individual that is held by the people who know him most. That alone bumps my respect for him as an individual just that little bit more without having ever spoken to him!

Respect for a position is static, and non-negotiable. If you are a Godfather, a Crewleader, a Slanty or a button man of any stripe then I will respect your position, and I will treat you accordingly. My respect for your as an individual is a totally different matter, and the suit that you wear and the pin on your lapel will do absolutely nothing for you in that regard; it is entirely down to the way you act, the way you carry yourself and the way you conduct your business.

That is my code, and I would expect everyone to treat me in exactly the same manner.

WhereWasI sighs, rolls up his sleeves, sets up a chair to sit on and sit down on a nearby milk crate and begins to speak.

First things first, I greatly disagree that people think Respect is a black and white thing as much as people are quick to make up there minds in most situations do to the context of the surrounding situation. Whether or not someone is deserving, and what amount is required to cross the line is simply subjective and I think everyone can agree that even if spoken about as if it's dichotomous. For example, there will be those who consider me speaking here at all disrespectful given recent discussions, but obviously that's not the case without any context and even with context there will be a large number who disagree.

The comments you claim weren't disrespectful... were worded to be disrespectful.

*renegade claps his hands in appluase to the spectacular show that this scene is, he walks away shaking his head mumbling "fucking jokesters, all of them"*

That's unnecessary and has no point other than to offend.

I see this as a mockery.

That line is unnecessary and the wording was most likely selected for the sake of insulting and being disrespectful. I could go a lot further but I think that'll suffice. You are correct that the questions in essence weren't disrespectful, but the wording was reckless at best and (whether intentional or not) disrespectful, especially in the context of where these things were being said. When you ask questions like that you have to be careful and fully aware of the context when you choose your words if you actually don't want to come across as disrespectful. Though not everyone is going to want to be respectful, but that's a moot point because it has more to do with how to respond to someone who's posed that sort of question that it does in how you initially pose that question. So a lack of respect isn't disrespect, that's why I've left out Shingo's words, the way something is worded can and in those cases was (most likely intentionally) disrespectful.

You took the time to say respect is earned as if that isn't an overused line. I'm fairly certain the majority actually took that line, maybe with a slightly different personal definition, to be true well before this speech was ever made. The only reason I bring this bit up is because at the end you said someone has to respect a button on someone's suit. Without proof that those with the button are actually all of higher quality, there's no point in respecting that button because... it's just a button. Would it be nice if it actually represented something? Yeah... but unfortunately a lot of people I'd never imagine getting a title of respect get it frequently so its lost all value to me as I'm sure it has to many.

I'm gonna avoid the collectivist bit as much as I can... but suffice it to say there was a point in time where the majority of the world thought the Earth was flat. Every statistic is based entirely on the reliability of the data collected and you should always assume a large degree of uncertainty in subjective response based statistics, though I do personally see the man as deserving as well so at least your final conclusion matches mine.

I disagree with your code on a lot of fundamental levels, but to prove a point of what is and isn't disrespectful I managed to avoid calling it a mockery or doing anything else to show you up with disrespectful wording despite the fact it's notoriously one of my favorite pass times.

If any of this doesn't make sense please ask me questions at a later date because I'm quite sloshed at the moment and I probably shouldn't be publicly speaking in this sort of state in the first place...

Report Post Tip

Its funny you should bring up this topic Guevara, the Rock was just reading a transcript of a similar conversation one of his ancestors said several years ago. Many of us know the phrase "Respect is earned, not given", the issue is that very few people know that there are various types of respect. There's general respect, the kind that means when a stranger passes you in the street and says 'Hello', you don't shout back 'fuck you, asshole'. However the Rock has seen some people in recent days ignore this basic form of respect. Then there is respect for one's position. For instance, Mort, BigBlack & Dexter. The Rock doesn't know these jabronis, but he respects their positions. They are RHM for a family. A Don, Crew Leader or Godfather has placed their trust in them and promoted them to the rank of his or her most trusted advisor. If The Rock knew nothing else about these people, it would be enough for the Rock to show them at least a modicum of respect. These are powerful people, and disrespecting them openly can get you killed. The same holds true for any made member of our society. Someone, somewhere has trusted that person enough to open the books and welcome them into their family.

As the Rock has stated elsewhere, too many associates show no respect for the position. In the old country (no, not .org, the real life Mafia) if an associate mugged or spoke out publicly against a button man, their life was forfeit. Associates are, to coin a phrase the Rock has heard bandied about before, No Name C**ts. It doesn't matter who your father was, who your mother was, who your Aunt's Uncle's Brother's Sister-in-Law was. This is about you and your need to prove your worth before you earn positional respect. Now don't get your panties in a twist jabroni, and think The Rock is saying associates are worthless and should have no opinion. That's not what the Rock is saying at all. What the Rock is saying is that associates, when picking pockets, when deciding to mug, when voicing their opinion, need to be mindful of whom they are addressing. The Rock has seen people shot for disrespect in the past, and the Rock is sorry that not as many are shot for it in this day and age.

Finally... no not the Rock returning, finally we come to that one kind of respect that is earned. Respect for the person. The Three jabronis mentioned above? The Rock doesn't know them. The Rock is sure they are nice people, but the Rock has never spoken to them. The Rock, if he sees them in the street and they address the Rock, the Rock will be respectful. If they address the Rock directly, because of their position, the Rock will respect them. However, the Rock has no respect for them as individuals. The Rock just has an absence of respect, because the Rock has never spoken to them. The Rock respects Curtis, as that monkey's nipple Eddie Guevara said, because he is our boss, he is our Godfather, he has the right to sacrifice each and everyone of us for the greater good, and he has earned that right. But the Rock also respects Curtis because he knows him. The Rocks family and Curtis's family have been checking jabronis into the smackdown hotel day after day, week after week, month after month, year after year for longer than the Rock cares to remember.

Same as you WhereWasI, the Rock doesn't know you, The Rock has never spoken to you. Sure the Rock knows of you, and there is no doubt that yours and the Rock's ancestors have probably stood shoulder to shoulder in the distant past, but that isn't enough for the Rock to respect you as a person, just your position and general politeness. See how the Rock didn't call you a jabroni, jabroni? That is respect of the person and the position. That monkey's nipple, Eddie Guevara, that guy that the Rock works for, the Rock didn't know him. The Rock got this position because of his association with Curtis, and posibly because Guevara knew of his father, and needed someone semi trustworthy. No doubt Curtis probably even vouched for the Rock as a good guy. Now the Rock didn't know Guevara, he had no respect for him either (Remember people, having no respect is different than having disrespect or disrespecting.) but he took the positionn, because The Rock had respect for Curtis, and Curtis made Guevara a crew leader, meaning Curtis had respect for Guevara. However, the Rock is growing to respect Guevara. the Rock sees the work this man puts in, trying to mold and nurture and grow his family, and the Rock respects that.

So let the Rock finish by reiterating the difference between a lack of respect, and disrespect. The Rock respects Batiatus, because despite his weird way of talking, Batiatus and the Rock have a lot in common. We have spoken on numerous occasions, and have agreed on most things. The Rock has also spoken to PaulHeyman. The Rock has respect for Twinky tits because he is a damn fine leader. The Rock has respect for his postion as a Don, The Rock even respects him as a person through our limited interactions and conversations, however the Rock has no respect for him as a WWE manager. In fact the Rock disrespects his ability as a a manager. Then we have that jabroni, Ragnarok. The rock unfortunately has respect for his position, that's a given, but the Rock would never get tired of laying the smackdown on that monkey's ass all day every day. But, there is still respect.

Scarfo had high tailed it to another part of town after a recent 'mishap'. I very intentional mishap, mind you. Yet, if the cops were to ask, he wasn't there, or wherever the fuck the mishap was. As he walked about he came across a crowd of people. Nothing new on the streets. Many a Mafioso in many positions came to speak their minds and mingle. It was what the streets was mainly about.

Scarfo overheard a familiar sound. A sigh. He had heard this same individual do the same shit and ramble on the same way since he started fussing himself with keeping an ear and an eye or two on the streets participants. Scarfo didn't dislike the man. He didn't really know him, so how could he. He just disliked this mans general way he carried himself when in public. It irked him. Scarfo also knew people were probably put off by his character also, and he noticed it on more than one occasion.

The South Philly man stepped closer to listen to WhereWasI and his usual melancholy way. Scarfo wanted to slap both himself for zoning out shortly after he started speaking and the man himself for acting like he was a teacher in college. But, he had a slight ounce of respect not to. Not for the man himself, because he just disliked his character. Yet, for the position he held in this thing of theirs, he didn't dare think to take the thought any further.

Scarfo did however, decide to step forward and say a few words after The Rock was done entertaining his millions of MR fans.

"I just want to say continually listening to you speak, WhereWasI, gives me a headache. I respect your position, yet I don't respect your speeches and zone the fuck out half way through what you're saying, and more so now as soon as you start sighing."

Scarfo paused to spit to the side, aiming at the ground in a free space.

"I respectfully think you need to visit a cat house, my friend. Not all everyone says needs to be dissected and commented on. You seem to like to argue others words, more than you like to put your own unique independent views across. If you cut out the need to take in everything everyone says and battle against it, you might just hit your point home harder than reciting a fuckin' newspaper article."

Scarfo scrunched up his forehead, the headache hitting home. He was suppose to be laying low, yet his annoyance and quick to rise anger had him yet again in the streets speaking his mind.

"In regards to the topic of respect, I've had to learn a thing or two. I have a short fuse, and really can't be fucked with some people. I'm having to learn to respect the human side of them, regardless of position in this thing. I want to dominate any fuck below me and stand on top of the mountain, yet I'm learning from TonyCapazzo and others it's not exactly the right way to go. Respect is essential and it has many strokes. I can be respectful to someone's position, yet be disrespectful to their personal character."

About to wonder off in search of jabronis, a thought hits Chris square between the eyes, and he stops to re-adress the millions... and millions of the Rock's fans.

I'm gonna avoid the collectivist bit as much as I can... but suffice it to say there was a point in time where the majority of the world thought the Earth was flat.

- WhereWasI

"The myth of the Flat Earth is a modern misconception. The idea that people in the middles ages or prior to that time frame thought the earth was flat is preposterous. There is no evidence that this was ever true. During the early Middle Ages, virtually all scholars maintained the spherical viewpoint first expressed by the Ancient Greeks. From at least the 14th century, belief in a flat Earth among the educated was almost non-existent, despite fanciful depictions in art, such as the exterior of Hieronymus Bosch's famous triptych The Garden of Earthly Delights, in which a disc-shaped Earth is shown floating inside a transparent sphere. ‘Round Earth’ maps survive from the later medieval period, and recent researchers have failed to uncover any significant pre-Columbian European writers who took the pro-disc position; nor is there any evidence that the uneducated masses believed in a flat Earth. This myth was probably born in the second half of the 19th century, perhaps as part of a general Victorian reverence for the classical world, and an accompanying contempt for all that came after."

Report Post Tip

Mr. Rock I guess you're calling yourself? No, our bloodlines have probably never stood next to each other 'side by side' because quite frankly my ancestors have taken pretty good notes on who they'd actually protect in a war and I don't recall anyone with similar characteristics, nor would I care if they had, so no worries on that you can go ahead and openly admit you don't respect me if you don't because it's a personal opinion and I'm a big boy so I can live with someone disliking me. As for the bit about the Earth being flat, The Ancient Greeks did figure that out, as well as the Incas I think, but all of their maps were circles based on a discus rather than a sphere at one point in time with some limiting thing preventing them from going further away from the center of their universe, which was always their home country. The concept of geometry wasn't easily to relate to the majority so you're better off assuming that the misconception lived on in the uneducated (which was the majority) long after the discovery. Even then, there are many other instances such as:

  • Is the Earth the center of the Universe?
  • Is Evolution real?
  • Is Pluto a planet?

The point was and is that the majority believe what they're told whether it's right or wrong so you're better off searching for answers on your own with logical backing than trusting the majority opinion on anything.

WhereWasI slaps Scarfo,

The South Philly man stepped closer to listen to WhereWasI and his usual melancholy way. Scarfo wanted to slap both himself for zoning out shortly after he started speaking and the man himself for acting like he was a teacher in college. But, he had a slight ounce of respect not to. Not for the man himself, because he just disliked his character. Yet, for the position he held in this thing of theirs, he didn't dare think to take the thought any further.

That is basically a slap in the face without actually doing it, like a synthetic Call compared to a Call Option. It's like describing someone as every characteristic of a coward but never actually calling them a coward. I could do that in return or I could just say it, what to do? You're a coward based upon that little bit and if you actually had respect for the button you wouldn't even pull that nonsense. Though you shouldn't because it's a stupid button. Don't like being called a coward? Don't be a dick and you'll be less likely to be treated like one, you damned urchin.

If you honestly can't find a view in my counter-points it's because you're intentionally not looking for them because I usually leave explanations as to why I disagree when I disagree which will include my personal views on things. I disagree with the notion general opinion means anything because the majority is frequently wrong. It's my view point, though this one isn't very original, but you'll probably find plenty of unique ones throughout my speeches seeing as I'm usually making a living quite far from the beaten path.

And where exactly was your unique opinion, mate? You have no respect for people below Made, not really unique. You're annoyed by me probably because I'm a rude asshole to anyone who acts like one to me but I'm usually better at being an asshole and people dislike seeing that, not really unique either. So don't come out and criticize me for not being unique unless you have the wits to think of something original yourself, mmkay?

I find it ironic that WhereWasI is out here talking about respect. I truly think that there is not a single person less qualified to discuss what respect is and isn't than you. I value respect very highly, that's why everything I've said (even in the face of obnoxious ad-hominem attacks and downright insults) has still maintained a respectful demeanor. But since you've elected to pull my words into this and claim I meant disrespect, I'll show you precisely what the meaning of my words were.

You've neglected to quote my entire thought. You've pulled a single sentence out of context and given it your own meaning. A more contextual quote would be: "I see this as a mockery. We have veiled our eyes to near blindness with our focus on ancestry." Not how I use "we" and "our"? It's because I'm talking about our world as a whole, not this single instance of Louis-Manciagli's auth. The mockery is that we've grown to focus too much on dead people's legacies instead of making legacies of our own. You're welcome to disagree about whether or not you see that or consider it a mockery, but don't cloud yourself with so much arrogance as to dictate what my words mean. Especially when your track record shows you being laughably incorrect on most occasions.

The best part is you respond to this with complete and utter disrespect for absolutely no reason. I didn't disrespect you, I didn't even fucking mention you, and then you show up attacking my character... in Louis-Manciagli's defense? I'll make this really simple, since I don't want you to misunderstand when you inevitably quote me later: WhereWasI you are a daft cunt lacking even the most basic understanding of respect for logic, individuals, or ranks. And hey, when you don't know a single fucking thing about it, it's easy to see disrespect in anything and everything. Maybe that's why you're so keen on calling me out for being disrespectful when in reality, you're just an imbecilic twat without even a shred of understanding for how to be respectful.

Regretfully, this is the last time I will ever acknowledge your presence in public (even if Slash asks me to). So if you feel you have some means of earning my respect back, you can contact me personally. Otherwise, enjoy being Our Thing's village idiot.

I'm hesitant to further derail the topic at hand or get in the middle of the domestic currently taking place before our eyes on the streets, but I thought I'd comment on this point you made Denam (which I completely agree with.)

The mockery is that we've grown to focus too much on dead people's legacies instead of making legacies of our own.

I find it humorous that you make a comment like this yet continue to use the exact same name for just about every single run your bloodline has in this world. You're not the only one, far from it, yet how can you ever expect to make your own legacy as Denam (the 20th?) when everyone knows a Denam Jnr the 21st is probably on the way once you die. If people wanted to genuinely be judged only on their own legacy created they wouldn't even reference their bloodline on their suit let alone use the same damn name. I'm sure you could point towards me wearing my bloodline but I'm probably not doing it for the same reasons as most others, let's face it it's probably not one you'd want to necessarily promote around these parts right now.

But since you've elected to pull my words into this and claim I meant disrespect, I'll show you precisely what the meaning of my words were.

Generally, when you come out to disprove someone's opinion on something you're supposed to prove you're more capable than them, so how many people should take you seriously with an opening like this? You're not respectful now, nor were you then. If you're gonna be disrespectful, at least have the stones to admit you are.

You've neglected to quote my entire thought. You've pulled a single sentence out of context and given it your own meaning. A more contextual quote would be: "I see this as a mockery. I'm sorry does disrespectful choice of wording require a full quote? Sometimes, but in this case seeing as half your damned speech was worded to be disrespectful I felt it was better to only quote a small portion rather than overrunning the conversation with every failed word choice on your part. You do realize calling someone's auth a mockery is no less of an insult if you later use the words "we" or "our" right? Or are you just that full of yourself?

But in case someone else doesn't see calling an authing you assume to be based on bloodline only without any fucking clue what went on in that district isn't disrespectful, I'll point out this little bit of disrespectful sarcasm directed towards a Crew Leader and a Dead man:

Well, I suppose in a few months when Louis-Manciagli start's "building something" we'll see, eh? Since there's absolutely no discernible difference between the two of them except for the "ciagli" which he has graciously added to the end of his name to help us differentiate between the two.

You're a disrespectful asshole, either take the name or don't act like one. You can't be one and refuse to admit you are one later without making yourself look silly.

You disrespected someone characteristically too polite to call an asshole an asshole. So yes, I decided to step in because I'm sure as shit not too polite to call an asshole an asshole.

Your quote about my lack of understanding is just... beautiful. You continue to speak on these giant assumptions I'm incapable of being respectful while being disrespectful yourself. At best, this is a case of the pot calling the kettle black given your chosen wording here today.

And I'll leave your district to determine if this is something they want representing them as a 'button man'.

Tony Capazzo stood there thinking about what he had for breakfast, a crossaint with eggs and a nice cup of coffee. It was a fine breakfast. He stood there listening to different people express their viewpoints, when there was a opening he moved forward.

Oh sarcasm, what a wonderful bit.

WhereWasI stands there thinking TonyCapazzo is clearly a jackass for intentionally missing the obvious point Scarfo was trying to make and stands there wondering if he should hit him with a wrench or call his mother a hooker. You are aware that you are a Left Hand Man and Consigliere within your family and district TonyCapazzo? Considering your crew leaders complete lack of street presence though I suspect that nobody has taught you any better. I highly recommend speaking with WhereWasI amongst others hovering around this corner in private to quickly "learn the ropes" around these parts.

What do I know though? I'm just a lowly Earner.

I am quite aware of who a I am, I apologize you feel my question is embarrassing and or retarded. I don't know much about the two subjects but seeing as though you think that's what they are again my apologies. Secondly I don't need to learn anything especially from this particular conversation. I asked a simple question, the fact that the question has blown up into this well it's humorous to me. There is a point to me asking that question and if WhereWasI ever answers the question then maybe you'll see where I was going with this.

Finally with all due respect what my crew leader's street presence is or isn't doesn't concern you so a bit confused as to what that had to do with anything. All it was was a simple question not trying to disrespect, derail or anything otherwise just a question to be followed up with a point afterward...that's all.

If they were sat at a table, he would've paid him a pretty penny for his freakish abilities, yet, all he could do was stare in astonishment.

Then, to Scarfo's predictions, he felt like a gypsy of sorts himself. WhereWasI was once again at it, yet this time he was dissecting Scarfo's speech. It seemed this guy from Chicago had nothing better to do than get into grumpy rants in the street, or atleast that's what Scarfo thought. Just then with he realized WhereWasI could be reading his mind and he tried to play it off, with an awkward smirk, before he blocked his attempt at a Slap and shoved him back with force.

"WhereWasI, my headache is growing and you're wasting my time with this back and forth shit so let me be clear. Don't fuckin' touch me. You're the last person that should be speaking on this topic. I would hope you would get more enjoyment from something other than verbal sparring. Maybe take up my offer and get your dick sucked at a cat house around these parts, there are many. Or maybe put those supernatural talents to use and make a pretty penny or two."

Scarfo initially felt no need to respond, and felt the headache getting the better of him. He felt in need of removing himself from the conversation, in the fear he'd end up like WhereWasI, ranting on forever about the content on one's speech, that's at least what he thought. He did however wish to address Shingo, before moving on.

"Shingo, you two Chicago fellas are cocky fucks, aye? Ranting in the streets like your speeches mean a thing or two, when they mean fuck all and just have more and more people thinking to themselves why the fuck do we even bother. And yes, you are just a lowly Earner speaking like he holds more weight than he does. Verbally disrespecting a crew leader and his consigliere. Where the fuck do you get the balls to give advice to men so high of your station? Did your parents not teach you any manners, you stupid fuck. Come by South Philly, we'll teach you a thing or two about how to hold your tongue whilst we beat it into the back of your fuckin' throat."

Scarfo felt pissed, had a headache and was tired yet would happily teach a mouthy young punk what the fuck it really meant to have respect, fitting for the occasion, no? Scarfo felt some fucks needed to learn with a good beating, and this seemed like the perfect occasion.

Scarfo rubbed his face, feeling drained at taking part in another one of WhereWasI's rant sessions. And now having to listen to some young punk giving advice out of place. He thought to himself what the fuck were they teaching people in Chicago, if these two men were at the forefront of giving their opinions on the topic. Preplexed at getting himself involved with such men, and still surprised at the supernatural abilities of WhereWasI, Scarfo awaitied the responses. He would pay half a mind to anything coming forth from these two on the topic, and leave as soon as he found the chance.

WhereWasI sighs again and stares blankly at Scarfo,

Please stay out of my mailbox with your 'helpful offers' on how to street speak.

(OOC: If you're stupid enough to think I'm going to ignore what you type in Italics or dance around addressing directly you're mistaken. And I enjoy telling assholes to fuck off because they're so often incapable of taking what they dish and it's fun to watch them struggle.)

Just take the few insults in this as a peace offering and leave after you clarify something.

WhereWasI rips the button off of his shirt and sticks it on Shingo,

He can borrow my credibility as a Boss for this conversation with you. If a CL isn't going to be active in the streets then they're in fact not setting an example for you to follow so even if it's somewhat disrespectful in some people's minds it's true so... not really much to say on that. And the same goes for the LH's questions. That would be like me getting offended because someone said I can be an asshole at times, ridiculous. What's much worse than calling out a CL on something true is threatening someone, but I could be wrong and it's possible you didn't mean "we'll teach you a thing or two about how to hold your tongue whilst we beat it into the back of your fuckin' throat" as a threat if he ever goes by South Philly. So please save face and clarify that you will not be doing anything to him should he ever stop by South Philly.

Scarfo shook his head after listening to WhereWasI speak in tongues, then walked off down the street. His headache still an issue, he decided to hit up a drug store at some point before making his way home for a much needed rest and to lay low due to recent events taking place out the front of a certain cinema.

Ajani was sitting on a bench nearby while hearing some commotion coming from a nearby street corner. He got up and walked over to see quite a winded battle commencing.

I am ashamed to over hear a speech about respect by Guevara get turned into a  pissing contest and full of utter disrespect. This is the last I want to see of it from anyone from Chicago as well. There comes a time and place where a line is drawn where one side says disrespect and the other is disrespect. Publicly denouncing another crew leader, name calling and other disrespectful filth will stop there. I will not stand for it. What needs to happen here is if you can't open your mouth without calling a person a cunt, twat or having a neutral debate then close your mouth and walk away. I was always taught if you have nothing good and respectful to say then don't say anything. I apologize on Chicago's behalf for some of the things I have witnessed take through the streets lately. Brilliant speech Guevara, I really enjoyed it. Respect is what we live by and if we will lower the bar to walk around acting like what has happened we are all doomed. However there was some disrespect I heard as well in Mr.Louis's thread with sarcastic clapping and such going on as well. Sure if you disagree with something say it by all means. But being a ass doesn't drive any point home besides making you look like a ass. That said that does not justify a verbal heroic battle. I seen Cloud talk logically and calm and give fairly prompt responses to Ragnarok   well thought questions as well. Maybe a few people could take a few lessons from those two how to talk and debate.
