Instead of taking this time to tend to other things, I felt that something important was missing from our fair Streets this evening. I'm about to regale you with a little story, and I hope you are all patient enough to hear it through to the end. It was a cold, December night. Might've been just before Christmas. Would've explained the decorative lights and mistletoe, at least. I think I was hung over or had the stomach flu or something. Either way, I was sick as I sat on that uncomfortable, red vinyl booth in Giovanni's Restaurant in downtown Detroit. The smell of the alfredo sauce from the next table over was killing me. I was waiting and I was impatient. But I knew I had to stay. And then she arrived. Modestly dressed in a white business casual pantsuit. Dark, luxurious hair that fell to her shoulders. When her head turned, scanning the restaurant for me, I saw those killer baby blues. Now this was a woman to die for. Could she really have been the baby girl of one of my closest associates? All grown up and ready for work? She smiled at me; a little curl of the right corner of her mouth, hinting at boredom and a flair of mystery. Adjusting herself into the seat she immediately put her hand out. "Marietta," she said. I nodded and took her hand briefly; her fingers were cold as ice from the air outside. Though I wish I could've said something I only nodded back. If I opened my mouth I knew I was going to puke. "Thank you for meeting with me," she had said, her voice low and honey-toned. I enjoyed her voice. My face morphed into a smile as I leaned forward eagerly. That's when it happened. The waiter walked by with a plate full of lasagna. My nose immediately picked up on the ripe, blossoming smell of marinara and my stomach lurched. I wasn't going to make it. Quickly clamping my right hand to my mouth I held up my other in a "one moment" gesture towards the young lady. Scrambling out of the booth I dashed across the plush burgundy carpet, nearly bumping into the hostess' stand as I slammed into the door of the ladies room. The white and black checkered linoleum gave me a quasi-feeling of vertigo. And as soon as I pushed my way into an open stall I had quite the out of body experience as I perched delicately over the porcelain throne. Ugh. I heard the bathroom door swing open and closed in the distance. The sound of high heels as they stopped behind me. Then without warning, a cool hand brushing back my hair off of my face. I was grateful, as I looked up into the blue eyes of the young woman, but never had the chance to tell her as I started to throw up violently again. At last, after several torturous minutes, I could finally look up at the woman who barely knew me, yet still had decided to help me. "You feel better?" she asked, taking a dab of tissue paper and wiping at my face. I felt stupid. I was twice her age and she was treating me as her child. "Ugnhhh," I managed to squeak, but gave a jerky nod of my head anyway. "Well good. I know this isn't the best time to say anything, but you threw up on my shoes. I'm going to need reimbursement to get them cleaned." Thus started one of the best and most effective business relationships I have ever had the fortune to have, and it's all because of that young lady who decided to help me clean up my vomit. Aurora Elizabeth Rodriguez Gonzales Hernandez Rourke is a woman who, as exemplified by the story above, is a responsible mafiosa who never falters in the principles of La Cosa Nostra. Honorable, loyal and trustworthy. She's a woman of her word and one who sticks by her morals and convictions. Without a doubt she is one of the most graceful and powerful women I have known in This Thing of Ours. She has had many responsibilities and triumphs over her time in our world. Her entire bloodline is filled with hard working and charismatic women. I have been one of those bloodlines who fortunately have had the chance to intersect with hers throughout the years, and I cannot think of one thing negative that anyone can say about her. All of these reasons, and many many more, only make up one iota of how amazing Miss RodriguezGonzalesHernandezRourke will be in her new position as family head and Godmother. I for one am proud to say I know her, and I stand here even more proud today that she has the chance to share with the underworld her ideas and ambitions. Congratulations to a woman I have long admired and loved. You deserve everything that has happened to you so far in your life, and deserve everything that will come next. Life as a Godmother is a crazy ride, but it is one that I know you are well prepared for. I would equip you with advice for this new role of yours, but I feel it is you who have helped me learn the ropes; in reality, you have been ready this position all along. Everyone, please extend your congratulations well wishings to the newest Godmother of our Seven Cities. Let her know that during all the of chaos and turmoil, we didn't forget that a shooting star shot just a little bit higher and flew just a little bit brighter than most. Well done, Aurorahrah! |

Godmother Aurora, I don't know that I can possibly explain how excited I am for you. My ancestors have worked closely with yours for years and never doubted that you would reach such heights. You are much more than deserving and I know you will make the most of your new position in Las Vegas. I'll spare the general public all the sappy stuff, but know that I wish you the very best. Congratulations. |

| Aurora, we have traveled together for many, many months. We've fought in wars, killed off rogues, and had general hijinx. The March War when we finally picked up our first Don kills, and this most recent war when we just picked up lots of kills in general. It has been a fun ride, and I know that you have earned this more than a lot of people. We have developed quite a rapport in our secret room with Brian, Rourke, and Marietta... The feud that exists between the two makes for a very lively show. I hope becoming Godfather brings you the happiness you so rightfully deserve. | |

Thank you all for your kind words, epecially Godmother Marietta. I wouldn't be where I am today without you. I will be making a speech in the near future, but for now i'm in the process of finishing my headquarters. I appreciate the support i've received so far. |
