*** Throwing up everywhere and still managed to complete the paper. I call that talent. And obsessive compulsive disorder. Either way, enjoy the new sections! Marietta Hey Leaders With just under a month since the big war in June over and done with, it would be safe to say that our world has taken grand steps on the road to recovery. We have two new Godfathers, a handful of new Captains, activity up the wazoo. Yet down in the South, in the good ol' bayou of Louisiana, New Orleans sits alone and uncared for by the underworld. It has been described as 'desolate', 'lonely', and 'a lawless city'. So we have to ask the powers that be, "What about New Orleans?" After many failed attempts to contact most of the big 'city' heads, this reporter eventually harassed Godfather Thomas Rourke of New York until he caved in. "I would say New Orleans is fine being empty," he stated. "Right now there just aren't strong enough candidates to be put in charge of it. Getting a crew and getting a city are very separate issues, and I honestly don't see anyone available right now that would live more than two weeks operating their own city." Wondering if the consensus was the same among the other city heads, I broke into one Godmother's private headquarters and bullied her into giving an answer as well. "Looking for the best candidate isn't hard," Godmother Marietta of Detroit stated when asked. "We're not looking for the perfect person to put there, but rather the perfect people. Much like with Sidious and Chicago, we are looking for someone who can not only change the city for the better, but has the ability to set up several captaincies within their first week there." Whatever the rhyme and whatever the reason, it seems as if the Godfathers are not in any hurry to get someone set up there straight away. We here at the Chronicle will keep you posted! Chicago Doubles Up When dawn broke on July 8th there was a single crew in Chicago and, on a day that is obviously important for the windy city, there were two new additions by the time the calendars changed. Don Sidious greatly expanded his operation by authing two new captains: Made Man RjFuller and Capo KingBenny. The first expansion is certainly a key point for any operation, and Don Sidious expressed his confidence "after careful consideration", on his part and the part of his RHM Kizzy, that he's got the right man for the job. Sidious stated that RjFuller's stood out from the crowd due to his "great dedication to the family" and "promise as a leader". After announcing the appointment of RjFuller to this captaincy, the Don of Chicago asked for all congratulations and celebratory comments to be kept on the streets, as Mr. Fuller would be understandably busy setting up his crew. RjFuller made a very brief appearance in the streets immediately after Don Sidious had concluded his remarks, thanking the Don and professing his hope that he is able to live up to the high expectations. Though Mr. Fuller has yet to publicly introduce his crew in the streets, he and his associates were spotted with brand new "The Darkside - Washington Heights" tattoos. We at the Detroit Chronicle wish RjFuller the best of luck as he embarks on his captaincy! After several hours, Don Sidious stepped forth and appointed KingBenny as the second Chicago captain. A captain that, as the Don said, should "help class Chicago up a bit, considering he IS royalty". Formerly a Darkside Capo, KingBenny was praised by Sidious for his understanding of "what it means to carry himself in a manner that would make all mafioso in our seven cities proud" and his "desire to do great things". While these qualities are impressive in any member of this thing of ours, they are especially admirable in, as Sidious mentioned, "a man who is relatively new to our world". The King emerged at the stroke of midnight to introduce his new crew, which is called The Cheese Syndicate of Chicago. Speaking from a run down neighborhood, KingBenny proclaimed "This is where the dirt and the deed is done. This is where the juice is. This is my office". He then spoke directly to those looking for a place to get their start, describing his new operation "tightly-knit Family of Men and Women who are looking to grow". KingBenny certainly seems to have the right mindset as he boldly assumes the mantle of crew leader, and the Detroit Chronicle wishes him the best. New in the Eight Cities Chicago: Sidious is certainly keeping things interesting! A few days after announcing his Chicago Business Bonanza, he authed two new Captains- RJFuller now heads Washington Heights, while KingBenny is holding royal court in The Cheese Syndicate of Chicago (more information above). Detroit: Motor City is as gritty as always; after running his contests, Don Captain Death-Knight introduced a new pick pocketing challenge against his own family. Las Vegas: All is well in the City of Sin, with the Godmother and her new Captain working together to make the city a better place to be. Los Angeles: The City of Angels Mobsters are still hard at work fixing up their city! New Orleans: Still quiet on the home front! New York: Scipita made an enlightening speech to spark a debate about the role of businesses in our world, while Mob_Marley got everyone worked into a tizzy over defining the boundaries on 'authed' shots (mainly on under 48s). Philly: Don Odd was found venting his frustrations in the Streets this week, sparking a rather long conversation between several of the world's highest ranking mobsters. Saint Louis: A'int havin' none of it. Advice from Amy Amy, For Rizzle? If you would like to write to Amy, please send a letter to Advice from Amy, Care of Marietta Much Ado About Business In a world that has long been considered about the guns, money and women (maybe fast cars in there too), it is a good feeling to know that some people out there still care about the little guy. The little guy in this scenario being the business districts. This week the small business aspect of our world was given a lot of face time from several different leaders, stirring up conversations and contests to get people motivated to start thinking about- and talking about- one of the often overlooked places in This Thing of Ours. Don ScipitaRourke of New York made an enlightening speech about the role of businesses in relation to the crime syndicate you work's for location, and whether or not it's adventageous for a Boss to run his or her own business. Don Sidious created the Chicago Business Bonanza, a joint effort between him and his Right Hand Kizzy at giving a jump start to the new Windy City's business side. Death-Knight, Don Captain of Detroit, made a similar contest for Michigan's businesses, choosing to do it in installments over time. We here at DetChron celebrate and applaud these fine leaders on looking out for the little guy in every city. Famous Mobster Sightings Curious about what the more famous of our world get up to during the week? Here's a look at what we here at the Chronicle were able to capture. Chicago mobster, -Skittles-, stealing candy from a baby. It wasn't as easy as it sounds, as Skittles walked away with a black eye from the Mother. Left Hand to SPIRIT of Philly, Angie, buying a fancy Italian dinner at a well-known Philly restuarant... on Odd's dime. Giovanni_Verrazano, a man who works for the Godfather in Los Angeles, painting the sidewalk outside of the Godfather's headquarters. It was blue. Right Hand to Miss ScipitaRourke in New York, Jono, rummaging through a garbage can looking for empty soup cans for a 'project'. Detroit citizen barc, bartering with a store clerk. Was asking if they wouldn't mind a bullet in exchange for a Coca Cola. Coglioni, Made Man from New York, sipping from a flask of whiskey secretly as he wandered around a clothing department store. Right Hand to Las Vegas Captain Tie, Hershey, pouring melted chocolate all over his body in the middle of the Strip. Detroit Mobster Tiggar, bouncing around and throwing garbage at passerby. Restaurant and Business Review of the Week Every week one of our reviewers will stop by a random (or suggested by readers like you!) business or restaurant in a random city and will share whether the place was dressed to impress or destined to flop. This week it was brought to our attention that an off beat sort of join was opened in Detroit, so we ventured out to see the 'Liquor Library' for ourselves. Opened just days ago, this new crown jewel of the Detroit Lafayette Park district is already thriving. The proprietor is Kates, a Consigliere who works for Godmother Marietta herself. After owning several successful businesses around the seven cities, this young woman seems to have settled in her home town, and settled quite well at that. Environment: Relaxing and inviting are the words that we came up with when visiting the L.L. Set in an old stone building on the scenic Detroit River, the interior holds all the qualities of home as well as the convenience of a speakeasy or library. Smaller tables make for a more intimate setting, while the leather chairs mark comfort. Selection: A wide variety of books reside in the multitude of shelves, as does a large selection of liquor behind the bar that runs across one side of the building. Try mixing and matching wines while you read one of the classics! Service: The place is still budding, so Kates herself manages the customers themselves, offering a delightful knowledge of liquors and books both! Clientele: Thus far only a more intellectual crowd seems to have discovered the liquor library- but that could change any day! Our rating: Four out of five stars. We gave it a four due to the creative nature of the business itself; within time we're sure that it'll earn the stars it's deserving of. Congratulations to Kates and the Liquor Library. If you too want to be one of the establishment owners reviewed, make sure that you have a large, lovely and booming business! Be on your toes, you never know when you'll be next! Own a business? Interview with a Leader Each week the Chronicle will be interviewing leaders they find interesting or that have done something to impact the Underworld in some way. These leaders will be asked several questions about their career, personal life, as well as their plans for the future. Below is the transcript of the interview with Death-Knight, Don Captain of Detroit. Hope you enjoy! Miss R.: Good evening, Don Death-Knight. Thank you for meeting with me! For the full transcript of this interview, please turn to Section A-5. Have an odd job laying around that you need to get done, but simply don't have the time? Fill in the Blanks Every week we interview a leader, asking about all their hard work, fame and glory. Yet it is often seen that Right Hands and Left Hands are shunted to the side, when they put just as much time in as the Boss themselves. In this new section, we have asked three Right or Left Hands to fill in the blanks on a survey sheet. Their answers vary from the serious, to the hilarious to the just plain disturbing. This week we caught up with Kizzy of Chicago, Rourke of Detroit and Elaina of Philly. Below were their answers (respectively). Hope you all find them as enlightening as we did! Kizzy
Weather Mmmm... weather! Chicago: Detroit: Las Vegas: Los Angeles: New Orleans: New York: Philly: Saint Louis: Topic of the Week Thanks for understanding! Caught In the Action We at the Chronicle have always been huge fans of those who are adventurous in This Life of Ours... especially those who regale us with the tales afterward. From now on, we will be highlighting the three mob activities we saw that we liked the best each week, or the best three story recounting told to the public. July 5th: Wise Guy Deadpool from Philly was found in Mexico this week (whether under the orders of his Boss Odd or not is debatable). After a skirmish over money that equaled no more than fifteen dollars in American currency, Deadpool managed to put down his enemies. The man specialized in conning people out of their money, and using a woman's emotions to his advantage. July 7th: Kates, a Consigliere that works for Godmother Marietta of Detroit, was seen acting as a backup sniper to a RIOT! casino heist at Belle Isle Casino. The woman almost was caught by the police that showed up when the heist went south, but made a stunning and sexy get away through the lake. July 7th: Deuce_Bigalo, a Made Man to MRFCUK in Philly, found himself in an unfortunate skirmish with a crooked cop in the 'lawless lands' of New Orleans city. What started as a small rumble turned into a full scale group beating as many other men and women began to jump in and inflict harm upon one another in the desolate crime-free streets. Man-Made Hell Specialist Anthony 'Hawkeye' Esposito leaned with his back against the dirt trench as he nervously tried to reload his M1 Garand. He looked up as he heard the whistle of a mortar shell overhead. It wouldn't land in the trench, but he still looked up at the village he was protecting. A stone house stood before him. With adrenaline pumping through his every vein, it felt as if time was going slower, as if it had fallen to a crawl. He watched as a woman dragged her children from the building, and as a mortar shell fell closer. "No! NO, GET DOWN!" he yelled, as the shell fell to the earth with an earth-shattering explosion, the force of which knocked Anthony's air out of him. He felt something running down his face that wasn't mud. He moved his hand to see what it was. A red, sticky substance covered his hand that smelled of rust and salt. The shell hit them perfectly to where it blasted the mother out and ripped through her body like tissue paper. Her daughter had died much the same way, and her son had his leg blown off. He lay, rolling on the dirt, screaming for his mother and crying. "Medic! MEDIC!" yelled Anthony. Another shell landed close enough to the edge of the trench to send him flying forward. His head crashed through a metal lantern, and darkness began to enshroud his vision. Hawkeye wanted to welcome the sweet release of unconsciousness, maybe which would ease the pain of his death, for surely the Nazi regime would capture him. It was inevitable, with him being in the state he was in. He wanted to let the darkness control him. But then the thought of his wife burned in his mind, and his son. The hell he was in now would be nothing if he didn't see his son. With that thought, his mind left him. He was in a strange place, lying in a comfortable bed, not one of the hard cots that made up the barracks. He opened his eyes to see a woman standing next to him. She couldn't have been more than 17 years old. She flashed a smile with her beautiful teeth. "Mr. Esposito, it is good that you are awake. Took quite a knock to the head, didn't you?" said the nurse. "I can't quite remember how I got here. Did the medic ever help that boy?" asked Hawkeye. "Yes. You both rode in on the same ambulance, in fact. He will survive, don't worry," said the nurse. He laughed, and turned his head to the end table of his personal room. There was a Purple Heart medal, laying in a black box for him. He reached over and picked it up. "Give this to the boy. I don't deserve it." Hawkeye sighed. All of a sudden, an alarm went off. The nurse jumped and looked around. "What's going on?" she asked in a frightened voice. "German counter-offensive. Take the patients somewhere, I'm going to fight," said Hawk. "Okay. Be careful, don't strain yourself," said the nurse. Hawkeye eased himself up and put on the helmet he'd worn earlier and his uniform. He grabbed a Thompson from the armory and ran out to meet the Germans head-on. Obituaries and Retirements A section where we respectfully honor and highlight the lives lost of those Made Rank and up. Made Men Capos Consiglieres The Hot Button Issues Everyone was mad at something this week. Or at least, that's how it seemed to us here at DetChron. On every street corner, someone was complaining or yelling or gulp swearing about something else no matter where we looked. So what was everyone yelling about? On one corner we saw people asking about button promotions, and whether or not the system was fair for newer bloodlines versus old ones. Then, on another, a young man was on a tirade about people receiving demotions to get large quantities of bodyguards at a cheaper price. A Mob Boss was seen venting his irritation for the "authed shot" craze that some under forty-eight hour gangsters seemed to be under the influence of... ...While on another street, another young man was asking when it had become acceptable to advertise one's business via mobmail, as well as the new recruiting processes of sponsors. We here at the Chronicle were curious, after hearing all of the above speeches, about which would be deemed the most important in our world? And that's where you com in! Vote here and tell us what you think was the most important issue this week, as well as why! Next week we'll feature in our paper the results of what you thought! Thanks for participating, and let us known your thoughts! Money Money Money The Editor has too much money. More than she knows what to do with sometimes. What better way than to reward readers of The Chronicle? Everyone who purchased a copy of the paper last edition had their personal information taken down by one of our salesmen. Their names were put into a hat, too many to even count! Per usual, three names were drawn and selected. These three people have been named winners of 100K each! And this week's winners were... The_Shrike, Kong and Theodoric! Congratulations! The money has been wired to your bank accounts. Enjoy! Remember to buy your copy of The Chronicle. You never know- next week you could be a winner! What's the Deal With _______? This is a new segment that I'm rather excited about, so I thought I would take the first stab at this. We here at the Chronicle will allow people to vent every week, anonymously, about something that irks them. (Within reason!) Don't like colorful tattoos? Hate people who don't wear family tags? This here's your place to say your piece. Peace. Whichever. All you have to do is send your rant to the Editor, Marietta, and start your rant with 'What's the Deal With _____?". This week: People Who Work for a City They Hate What's the Deal with people who work for a city they hate? I honest to God don't understand this. I'm not talking about a rule breaker or a traitor. I'm talking about the next-gen haters. Your mammy or pappy got killed by Don Leader X. So you, the child of the dead, who still bears a grudge against said Don Leader X, go to work for him or her? You pledge your loyalty to one of their cities? In what world does this make sense? I understand 'keeping your friends close and your enemies closer', but doesn't it defeat the purpose if you can't even get a decent Mob career out of it? If you're so hindered by your hate that all you can do is bitch and not work on crime-committing or getting promoted, wouldn't you be better suited to work somewhere else? I mean, if you're only out to rogue or whatever, why not just go join another city to rogue from? Maybe it's beyond me, but to me this is the purest form of stupidity I've seen. Keeps me amused, though. So thanks for that I suppose. Do YOU have a problem with something that happens every week? Want the chance to vent about it? Write into The Chronicle and we'll publish all your rants for you! Nice Recipes for Hardcore Mobsters Dinner is an important part of the day. Especially if you are spending it with your family. Want to impress the higher ups with a casual dinner? Whip up a nice tuna casserole. What You'll Need: Directions: Horoscopes Want to know what the week holds? Well we can't tell you that. Excellent issue! And I am not saying that just because my name is in there, either. Ya know I'm not trying to point that out, it's, ya know I'm humble. That is how I roll, humble. And that was one really, really great issue. So there ya go. |
