The Hammer picked up two copies, tossing a dollar to the paper boy, he doffed his cap in gratitude.  The Hammer wiped the blood out of his eyes with one edition, so he could sit down to enjoy the second over a steaming cup of char.  Halfway through reading the paper, he caught the ey of the waitress, raised one eyebrow, and licked his lips.  Not quite managing to repress a shudder of revoltion, she scarpered back into the kitchen.

Hammer, you old dog, he thought, you've still got it.
