Kates relaxed at the cafe on Belle Isle across from the Renaissance HQ, sipping her water and enjoying the last brilliant gasp of summer as the sun sank below the Detroit skyline. The baby was due any day now, and she was just finishing up the last of her notes for Naomi and Swayzak. She didn't intend to be out of commission for more than a couple days, but she felt better planning ahead, just in case.

Kates felt the baby inside her give a good, strong kick. He'd been doing that more and more lately, as if he were demanding to join the world she lived in. For a moment, Kates reflected. Would she really want him to join the business? Already, she felt herself trying to shield him from the dangers of her work. But there'd be time for that later. Dropping a few bills on the table, she gently made her way down the sidewalk. She enjoyed walking on the boardwalk of Belle Isle- the district had exploded since she open up her HQ here. Though it was only a short ways off in the Detroit River, she loved being surrounded by water. The minutes slipped by as she eventually saw the dusky grey begin to dominate the sky. Realizing she stayed too long, she set off at once for the ferry.

A dull ache began to grow within her as her legs became leaden. She quickened her pace as much as she dared. But as her shoes slapped against the sidewalk and her large green dress shifted in the light breeze, she felt a spasm slowly travel from her lower back to her stomach. It was starting. But she still had a ways to go. As she leaned against a lamppost and wiped the emerging sweat from her brow, she gritted her teeth at the crowd that was blocking her way.

"Ferry, please. Help?" she muttered tersely as she took a few slow steps through the crowd on the sidewalk.

Walking along the street towards the ferry Sonix see's Kates leaning on the lamppost in pain.

"Shit boss are you ok? whats wrong?"

Violet looks at Sonix- with bewilderment, then looks at their Boss

You are such stupid boy Sonix- she ain't ok, I think she is in labor. Contact Naomi now, I will call the hosapital and the rest, carry her to the car I will drive.

She prayed that they will be in the hospital in time, as she step on the gas.

He sees Sonix- and his beloved standing around Kates who has been clutching her stomach. After a second they all jumped into a car and sped away. Frowning he jumps in his own car and rushes after them, wondering what the problem could be

"Im not stupid" he muttered under his breath as he dialed Naomi's number.

Tommy see's all of the members of The Renaissance and asks ... "You guys need some help?" Tommy throws the keys to his 1931 sports car. "I want that back!" He screams as they drive off in his vehicle.

She frantically racks her brain fo rthe direction of that hospital, God why is she so imbecile when it comes to directions.

Sonix- did you remember the way to that hospital?

Then she looks at her rearview mirror and saw a car following them...God someone is following them who could it be the fbn..no she had bribed him earlier, the police, warden....why now!!! she thought.

He sees violet looking at him in the rear mirror, dialing her number he speeds after the car. He hears her answer the phone and quickly says

"I'm the following you don't worry"

"I can't remember shit I was drunk last time I was at the hospital and Naomi won't answer her fucking phone."

He puts away his phone and starts to look round the car.

"you got a map?"

The contraction passed, Kates looks at violet and Sonix.

No map. Take this road straight to the ferry. Ferry should be about 10 minutes to the shore. Then a 15 minute drive to the hospital. One of you should hop out and call ahead from a payphone- ambulance can meet us at the dock.

Grimacing, Kates looks at the buildings as they flash by.

And whoever calls the ambulance should call my mother...

She looks at him as if he asks her the one million question. she and maps doesn't go along together.

Sonix- I don't use map, Its useless for me, I don't know how to use it. Shit, why now...hey Boss, madam help us.....the directions pls.

She heard her phone rings, she answered it and realized it was rover following them, she then gave her phone to sonix-

Sonix- its rover my boyfriend and good friend of our Boss, maybe he remembers the way to the hospital. Boss take a deep breathe, inhale exhale....

Tells Sonix the same directions as Kates and soon both their cars are boarding they ferry. Rover jumps out and pays for them both and runs over to their car.

"Can someone please tell me whats going on"

Stares at violet as her Consigliere pretends to answer an imaginary phone.

I... must be hallucinating. Someone get out and call ahead. Warn them. Potential psychosis. And baby.

"I'll go call them and your mother."

He gets out the car and heads to the pay phone.

Violet then went to the car of rover and drag him to their car.

Hon, you drive.....I will calm Madam Kates. Now Mam, is there anything that is hurting you?

Kates wipes the sweat from her forehead again.

I'm alright. Where's the ferry?

He pats Kates hand softly

We are on the ferry now, and are about to set off

Good. Let me know when we hit land.

Says a soft prayer, closing her eyes and folding her hands as she tries to restrain her nerves.

Realizes she is very nervous, he smiles warmly and squeezes her hand

Don't worry we are here for you, your not going through this alone.

Sonix walks over back to the group.

"Ok they know we are coming they are getting everything ready. Boss there was no answer at your mothers place is there anyone else you want to call?"
