I just reread your earlier post which said this:

Another is when the Israelis fought their war I forget which one it was but I think it was the Seven years war or wahtever it's called they had 2,000 Abrams tanks and were outnumbered by Soviet T-72's by a 3:1 ratio and they didn't lose a tank.

And the thing about this is that it only shows that the Israelis like British hardware better lol.

In the "Six Day War" not the "Seven Year War" which is what I think you meant mate lol, The Israelis had 800 tanks mostly British Centurions and their enemies had 2504 Soviet era tanks and the Israelis with British tanks outfoughts them, thats because of British hardware and Israeli training and tactics. Also, this war happened in 1967 and the Abrams wasn't introduced until 1980 lol

And if you meant the Yom Kippur War that was 1973 which is still too early for the M1Abrams lol

I was in the 2004-2008 tour in Iraq.

I served in Najaf and fallujah.

I am glad to see fellow marines here. Ooorah

Mine would be the Australian SAS which i dream to be a part of one day.

And am joining the Regular Australian Army at 18 as a regular rifleman.

Nah shoenerb and Mike The Israelis had Abrams I saw it lol I know I'm not crazy

Its unlikely the Israelis have used American tanks en mass as they used to use British Centurion tanks and then in 1982 they introduced the Merkava Mark I tank made in Israel, with a licensed copy of the British Cannon, since the M1 Abrams was introduced to the US Army in 1980 its unlikely that with a tank of their own about to be put into production that the Israelis would buy 2,000 Abrams, also the Wikipedia page for the Abrams makes no mention of M1 Abrams tanks being sold to the IDF. In short I am confident in saying that the Israeli Defence Force has never used M1 Abrams tanks as their MBT, maybe they had one demonstration model or something that you may have seen but definitely not 2,000 used in a war.

Idk then I guess they were british

Doctrine of US Marines stands: Accomplish the mission at all costs (except for gay RoE)..not exactly shoot first ask questions later. You making that claim is actually quite insulting. We are known for being adept in combat at checking our targets and still putting incredible, accurate fire down range. Some admin units of the US Army, the ones that have no business being on my battlefield, sure -- I can see that. And they aren't an overall representation of the US military, either.

Tillman was killed by 'friendly fire', we are unsure of if it was Afghani or American bullets, but the situation is classic. Two units were operating in the same AO, but they didn't know they were there. An IED went off, and let me tell you: A 155mm shell going off near you rocks your entire world down to the core. You don't know whats going on. Suggestions are that Afghanis fired first, and the American units followed suit; the firefight began. The fault was on everyone, every single person involved, for not checking their fire and not seeing exactly what they were laying rounds down range at. Mistakes like that happen, though: Welcome to the jungle.

Please, be lenient on making generalizations unless you are there, or have been there. Which, you haven't said to me yet whether you have or not: Have you served, Mike? Curious ;)

Nelson -- don't make claims unless you can easily provide the evidence to support them, else people will just think you're full of it. Just some advice.

There's quite a huge gap between being a Marine and being a chef, haha, but who is to say it can't be done? If you want it, if you put your heart towards anything, there isn't a force on this world that can stop you if you believe you can do it. So good luck to you, look me up sometime if you ever get in.

Britain is not the worlds best Navy anymore, sorry to whoever said that. And the RAF? I dunno about that. Definitely second if not first.

I have worked with numerous British personnel, my favorite to work with were the Royal Marine Commandos, because they have been redesigned lately to function like US Marines ;). Brits overall were a fun bunch of guys to be around, some were pansies in a firefight (we have them too), but I liked them. Not my favorite foreign unit to work with, however.

Israelis have a few M1A2 Abrams now. And, I'd personally rather be in an Abrams than a Centurion. Oh, and the T-72 is a trash can with a water gun on the front. Don't try to make any kind of comparisons to it, because it makes you look just plain silly hah.

Oh, and thank you for the best wishes Michael, I will remember that as I proudly hold my head high and do my duty ;). Lets hope I make it back from the next tour in the same good conditons.

Along with every other man and woman serving beside me. Whoops, that last little bit got cut off my last post.

Believe me SaintKronos I don't like to make generalizations about people or groups of people, any I haven't been in the mix and I don't claim to know how things go down and how people react. I understand I don't have all of the facts i'm just saying how I see things, maybe their wrong as my opinions are mounted on whatever information I can get my hands on, granted most of the time that information is probably out of proportion. And I would rather get my information on the war and the people serving in it from guys like you, unfortunately I don't know many like you. I hope that one day I will experience these things, It's good that you have had positive experiences with my fellow countrymen and as for the Israelis and their Abrams (not 2,000 in a war BabyFace lol) they must not have been declared as sold, tut tut tut lol And of course with the Centurion being a generation out of date I too would rather be in an Abrams...or a Challenger 2 lol.

Report Post Tip

By all means, you are entitled to your opininon good sir, and least you are respectful and make intelligent claims that are supported by at least some logic..it's wonderful to here.

I had meant to put Challenger, not Centurion, I wasn't paying attention. I've been behind both of them, and the Abrams is just comforting..especially when they fire their newest modified rounds.

I Served as a royal Guard in Denmark, its many years ago though. As to the whole discussion i just wanna say its pretty damn hard to argue about different nation capabilitys and will to figth. Hardware is easier to talk about and no doubt usa uk israel and france are some of the top players. If i was pushed for a comment on it id say israli soldiers (if we are talking regular army) are the most badass and UK if we are talking special forces. Then if we go into enviroment adapted special units there some hardcore Finnish winterwar troopers out there. But at this time in history on an overall level the american army have the best equipment the most battle harderdened soldiers and one hell of a logistical support machine to keep em fed clothed and loaded up on ammo

Report Post Tip

I think the Israelis are some of the baddest troops I've ever seen -- simply because they have to fight by no rules. Amazing to have on your side.

Report Post Tip

Now that I think of it any country that has M16 Assault Rifles in break glass cases in restaurants must have some damn good troops too. The IDF are my 3rd favorite military in the world.

Report Post Tip

Well idk about you but my favorite military is the good ol' Americans

Hey SainKronos, I was just re-reading your earlier post and about Pat Tillman, a few weeks ago a guy was on the Daily Show with Jon Stewart talking about a new book he has written about Pat Tillman, and he revealed that that entire accident was not as simple as the Pentagon and DOD made out, and that to cut a long story short, Tillman was going to go public with his disapproval of the war and highlight its failings, he also mentioned that there were 3 US snipers in the area, that was covered up by the Military, that all fired on and subsequently hit Tillman, now I don't know about your but when a sniper takes a shot, or 3 snipers take shots, they can see who they are shooting at, also there was controversy that his unit attempted to burn his uniform and body armour after the engagement, sounds a bit fishy to me. Let's hope its an isolated incident.
