I've been dying to reply to this topic, but there hadn't been a single intelligent comment defending it in it, until now.

You received message from several people, I'm sure, but I don't think you received a message from me and I certainly hope you didn't from my people. Or better said, I hope you weren't offered an invitation after just a one liner from you.

I encourage my sponsors to get to know unsponsored people to see if they find somebody that would be a good addition to the crew, but I never offer an invitation if I don't see something that makes me think I'm not inviting the biggest moron in the country.

Sometimes, when there are very few people from my family awake, I may even approach them myself. Several of them have called me a member whore, yet none of them had been offered an invitation. So I think several people here defend extreme stances on the issue when times call for a delicate balance between expecting effort from the potential associate and offering a position in your crew.

Walks by the man and acts like he ain't hear a word. Then thinks to him self "I wonder how long will he live ?"

You'll be happy to know, looking at your small number of immediate members, none of them were amongst those who mailed me asking if I wanted to join.
Most of the mails sent to me were from Made Man+ members who were looking to just boost their number of associates, so I was quick to decline. I would rather go homeless than join a person who just looks for the number of members over the quality of members.

Speaking to new blood isn't classed as member whoring in my opinion, as long as your not offering an invite within the first few messages, which, by all accounts, is something you obviously don't do, so much respect to you for that.
Some people get confused about what member whoring actually is and by just mailing them to talk and find out who they are, what they can and can't do etc..isn't whoring, it's being smart.

I really see no harm in recruiting people, its what you do after you recruited them, I think is much more important, especially with people new in this world, this is a really confusing place at the beginning and having a good mentor makes all the difference.

I think it should work like an interview. Obviously the new person can and should approach the appropriate people along with sponsors approaching them in a non-whoring fashion. Meaning that just as its the responsibility of the new blood to try and find a home they should also ask questions of the people they are talking to. Not everyone is the right fit for a certain place. It does take work to find that place. So both the higher ranked members should ask questions as well as the new blood. 

Thats just my humble opinion anyways.

It took a while before someone contacted me but, I would not have contacted anyone, I did not know who to contact, I would have left this site and would not have come back, I think approaching a new member is a good thing, the first time I was invited by the RHM after the second message, but he and the Boss of the family invested a lot of time in me and really trained me.

So in my book whoring is fine lol as long as they mentor the new mafioso 

If you hate member whores, why start a thread about them? It's like you are giving them more attention because of what they do. Why not mention the other people? The one is ready to mentor you as you progress the game. Those are the ones that we should be thanking for. Families that are willing to help new members.
