| Does Any One Miss It? | Started by: Jack_Bauer on Dec 21, '09 18:42 |

Jack _Bauer Says: Does one miss it? When there used to be maybe one Godfather/Godmother, or when there were just Dons running the streets. Its kinda weird now you know.... so many high ranks. it's all because everyone is afraid to mess with someone else's Family. I remember back in the day, there would be a war once every 2 weeks, it was great. Back then you knew you were good if you were a high rank, but now you don't know anymore. The game back then had the Greats Like Mactavish, And Marietta those girls were the ones made this game great. I know the game has come a long way from were it used to be and that is GREAT!!!, But on the other hand it has gotten to be a bit to easy. I just wish we could all go back........ So I Ask You My Old, Wise Friends Does Any One Miss It?? |

No, No and nope. I don't miss it one bit, I love the way our lives are now and I wish for them to stay like this. Marietta and Aurora and many others have worked hard to bring this thing of ours to what it is now. It allows everyone to have a chance at something and show their true colours and not just dieing every 2 weeks. |

Yes but by dying you learned from you mistakes and that is what makes you better in our Mafia life. I remember when i used to play eveyday it took me so long to get Boss, it's cuz you have to make connections with the people so you become safe |

Dying doesnt always teach you lessons. My first account was killed in a one sided war, no lessons where learned then. I do get what you're saying, it brings you experiences in most cases about how to better your 'career' |

I have to agree with you on this, it has become far too easy. Our streets have become littered with money, BG's, CL's and high rankers and i believe it is spoiling the game. Becoming powerful is far more easier nowadays and i much prefer how it was before. |

advancements a definite positive, as always... we also all seem to see how the games pace is picking up... Streets littered with Bold names?... Wiseguys by the bulk in your locals, Goomba(LHM)'s...? and so forth... Like the parents would say at a little league game..."Let the kids play ball".... gangsters to wiseguys got guns... when do they use um?... Hmmm... IA spawns, Ranges, and 2nd grade show and tell.... not at all knocking on the improvements though... : ) |

I agree as well. I've lost some good friend because of the changes. Anybody can get made by meeting requirements. CL's are all friends now which allows the same people to die and get auth, eliminating the whole hard work part. I'll go back a little farther, like 6 or 7 years, when most CL's didn't even know eachother and auth those that worked hard in their crew. Take in mind that it took months to get Made which allowed time for family members to actually get to know eachother, plus their strengths and weaknesses. To be honest I miss the ability to be on wackback codes. Damn those were the days. I agree! |

I must say I do miss the old days, though I haven't been around that long, when I first arrived I loved this world. Mainly cause of the wars, you may ask me now "Oh Hades so you think wars are good when people die and lose their characters" I say YES I think its good, how else can one truly test them selves to see if they are the strongest. The last few wars to be quite honest, have been ridiculous. Just a bunch of cities against one unlucky city. I miss seeing city vs city, those were fun to watch to see who came out on top I agree ranking has become to easy, you use to see a Don and know, shit I wouldn't mess with that guy, now the majority of the Dons are a joke to what the rank is truly about Right now what bothers me is how scared majority of the top players are to lose their position to state what they really think or do what they want. |

I would have to disagree with pretty much all of you, and go out on a limb to say you have all forgotten probably the most essential reason as to why ranking is easier now than it was several years ago. Please let us not forget one of the most crucial events in our history that has shaped ranking more than anything else. Does anyone remember when a group of people complained about how hard it was to rank? I know I do. It was a cold day in IRC when a rowdy group of no-goods started in on IzzyCreamcheese about how annoying it was to rank and how it was unrealistic to attain the requirements to reach certain ranks. So, the dear man known as IzzyCreamcheese relented and lowered the ranking needs for all the land (with the exception of the Godfather rank). Now here we are, much further down the road... Griping that it is too easy to rank. It's funny how that happens. As per the effect that peace has had on the game... I do not disagree that war is incredibly fun, but make no mistake about why there are so many high rankers. Security and confidence. People didn't wake up one day and start to rank up. It took many, many months after October '08 before people finally felt confident enough that they could put in a shit ton of work into an account without being knocked off. Those tenets still exist today. When people don't feel like they are going to survive for longer than a few weeks, what is the motivation to work? There is none, and that has been proven time and again on this game. But one thing is for certain, we can't have it both ways. We can't complain ranking is too hard, then when the game accomodates those people, be upset that it is too easy. We can't complain that we don't live for longer than a week, then when we get an account that's been alive for over 3 months, kick dirt on the notion that there is not enough war. Yet a lot of people do anyway. That is sad. |
