| Women, Powerless? | Started by: ChanelCruize on Dec 26, '09 14:33 |

ChanelCruize, stepping out of her new family HQ, heads out to the streets. Something is on her mind that she wants to get out, because earlier she was approached by a man who said to her "Because you are a woman, you will never be anything but a sidekick". After Chanel gave that man a "lesson" he will never forget she thought to herself, if he thinks that, how many other people think that? How many other people think that because your a woman in this world of ours, you wiull never be anything.
Hello all, let me introduce myself to you all. My name is Channel Cruize and I am here today to spark a thought in people's heads. Do you all think that because a fellow mafioso is a female, that she has it twice as hard as a male to become something? I personally think that, yes, It is a bit harder because some people are sexist, and women get less respect. Although I am sure some of you, if not the majority of you all, think that "No, you are judged on your character and not gender". Well thats just one of my question for you today. Do men have it easier? Do women have it harder? Do you think that it is all the same? Chanel awaits peoples comments.

If I said we are all the same I would be wrong. But that a women is a sidekick or that she can't get anywhere is absolutely wrong. Have you not heard of Marrieta? Or if your new, Aurora? These women are top notch, they made the rules, made things as they are now. Hopefully me saying those names are enough to answer your question. There are also many women crewleaders, now and in the past. |

I personally think that a lot more thought could have gone into this idea. It is in my experience that these kind of speeches are the starting points of idle talk that turns into a sexist argument, rather than any form of sexism there in the first place. Let's look at some paperwork Chanel: |

You're right Mr Clouseau. About the higher number of males to females and the liklihood that there are going to be more males in leadership positions to females. That is. With males being the majority gender. It's going to happen. |

I would like to add Apollonia Don CrewLeader,(Unless of course it's a guy,no disrespect ma'am/sir,it's only some Males have posed as Women in the past, and Inspector seems like he wouldn't have missed anybody in the list...) I believe everyone in 'This Thing of Ours' is even, just because you're a female doesn't make it any harder for you. |

Thank you all for all of your comments. Once again this was just to see where everyones mind was. We went from, women only good for getting Bologna, to women have it easier than men, to it does not matter what gender you are, your chances at becoming sucessful are just the same. I just would like to say that this is not a question that has a right or wrong answer, its strictly an opinion. Thanks all again. If anyone else has something they would like to contribute to this topic, you are more than welcomed. |

This is short and sweet. I truly think it depends on the woman involved. Some have it easier, some have it harder and some are just as equal. It depends on their actions but also on how the people they come into contact with view them. |
