Women, Powerless? Started by: ChanelCruize on Dec 26, '09 14:33

ChanelCruize, stepping out of her new family HQ, heads out to the streets. Something is on her mind that she wants to get out, because earlier she was approached by a man who said to her "Because you are a woman, you will never be anything but a sidekick". After Chanel gave that man a "lesson" he will never forget she thought to herself, if he thinks that, how many other people think that? How many other people think that because your a woman in this world of ours, you wiull never be anything.

Hello all, let me introduce myself to you all. My name is Channel Cruize and I am here today to spark a thought in people's heads. Do you all think that because a fellow mafioso is a female, that she has it twice as hard as a male to become something? I personally think that, yes, It is a bit harder because some people are sexist, and women get less respect. Although I am sure some of you, if not the majority of you all, think that "No, you are judged on your character and not gender". Well thats just one of my question for you today. Do men have it easier? Do women have it harder? Do you think that it is all the same?

Chanel awaits peoples comments.

Hahahaha... you're a female and you're talking to me. Ahahahahahahahahahaha.

The Bologna is in the fridge. Please put it back when you're done, I like extra mayo as well.

Report Post Tip

Pfft. Not this girl. If anything you would be making me a sandwich.

Report Post Tip

No.

Women have exactly the same chance, opportunity and difficulty in succeeding as their male counterparts. If I was forced to say one way or the other, I would say some women have probably had it easier in the past because they are often given more opportunity by the more powerful male mobsters who have proved to be something of a sucker for a pretty face.

Despite this, we've seen more than capable female bloodlines on our streets and arguably the two most successful Godfathers of all time happened to be female.

It is really dependent upon the individual people involved on whether or not they make their gender an issue.

Who said anything about a sandwich? I just wanted you to lather up in mayo and feed me bologna.

Report Post Tip

That sounds like a job that you are capable of doing yourself.

FCUK overhears Chanel and can not resist to retort

"Do you know your history? The first true 'Godfathers' were female. Many of the leaders today are also female. In this world it isnt your gender but your ability that defines you. Put simply no Women do not have it harder nor do the men its level pegging"

Report Post Tip

If I said we are all the same I would be wrong. But that a women is a sidekick or that she can't get anywhere is absolutely wrong.

Have you not heard of Marrieta? Or if your new, Aurora? These women are top notch, they made the rules, made things as they are now.

Hopefully me saying those names are enough to answer your question. There are also many women crewleaders, now and in the past.

Report Post Tip

Oh, Warden, you must have had me confused. I was not asking because I did not know an answer. I was asking to see everyone's thoughts on this topic. Thats all. Smiles.

I personally think that a lot more thought could have gone into this idea. It is in my experience that these kind of speeches are the starting points of idle talk that turns into a sexist argument, rather than any form of sexism there in the first place. Let's look at some paperwork Chanel:

Lily Evans - LHW for PedroRorke
Kates - Don Crewleader of Detroit
Aurora - Godmother of Las Vegas
Morgan - Don Crewleader of Los Angeles
Leucosia - RHW for Battista
Lana - Consigliere Crewleader of New York City
Ellies - RHW for Cryptic
Lucretia_Borgia - Don Crewleader of New York City
Deimna - RHW to Deimne
Pixxie - Don Crewleader of Philadelphia
Red_Scorpion - RHW to Pixxie
Scipita_Rourke - Godmother of Philadelphia
Baby_B - RHW to -V-
Eolande - LHW to -V-
Verona - RHW to Quirinus

These are the females representives from the top tiers of the families that frequent the eight cities, and it is evident that it is no small number. Also, how is it possible for anyone of us to know what gender is covering what job roles in each family? I have several females covering what I would class as 'important' job roles within my family. Just because they are neither my RH or LH doesn't mean that I do not value them any more or less simply because of their gender. I chose my higher echelons of my family purely on points like experience, how well I know them, the reputation that procedes them, the impression they make on myself etc etc. And to be honest, I have not heard of any crewleader present today using any other reasons.

As a final point, I have always noticed that there is higher population of males to females within our world of ours. Surely it is simple mathematics that the gender with the higher number is going to have more of the job roles filled?

You're right Mr Clouseau. About the higher number of males to females and the liklihood that there are going to be more males in leadership positions to females. That is. With males being the majority gender. It's going to happen.

I also thank you all for helping my new thug with this topic.

The way I see it... All through my life here and all through what I remember of my ancestors lives etc. There has always been women in powerful roles with in this thing of ours. As Grin has already stated, Two of the most successful Godfathers of out cities were woman. 2 of the most powerful Godfathers of our time right now are woman. One of them in particular I was lucky to work under and be her Right Hand Man. Another woman in a powerful position is my partner of Los Angeles Morgan.

Women have always and always will been treated equally.

It's whether or not you're worth your weight in gold that determines how far you get in this life.

I would like to add Apollonia Don CrewLeader,(Unless of course it's a guy,no disrespect ma'am/sir,it's only some Males have posed as Women in the past, and Inspector seems like he wouldn't have missed anybody in the list...)

I believe everyone in 'This Thing of Ours' is even, just because you're a female doesn't make it any harder for you.

Report Post Tip

Thank you for the mention Chaotic.  last I checked I was a woman through and through, as is my LH Tritium

Report Post Tip

Thank you all for all of your comments. Once again this was just to see where everyones mind was. We went from, women only good for getting Bologna, to women have it easier than men, to it does not matter what gender you are, your chances at becoming sucessful are just the same. I just would like to say that this is not a question that has a right or wrong answer, its strictly an opinion. Thanks all again. If anyone else has something they would like to contribute to this topic, you are more than welcomed.

Pulls back on the neck collar that is attached to Saint_Cav

Bad Bad Cav!!

Women are fewer in number but often as said above in positions of power so their role in society is equal. I know women get harassed a lot, especially by the drunk mobsters leaving the casinos.. looking for a cheap thrill.

Such as Cav.

Report Post Tip

haha Boss you must have heard wrong, I treat my women with respect...

By the way if your owed child support by me please contact my lawyers.

Report Post Tip

I treat everyone with respect regardless of sex ...
The only thing you can lose is my respect

If you
abuse it

Report Post Tip

This is short and sweet. I truly think it depends on the woman involved. Some have it easier, some have it harder and some are just as equal. It depends on their actions but also on how the people they come into contact with view them.

Report Post Tip

Do men have it easier? Do women have it harder?

In a word, no.
