detroit had people ready to shoot him, from what i believe. no one wanted to wait the extra minute it would've taken, and apparently took the matter into their own hands. i'm not suggesting pj waited for godfather pedro or his rh, but several detroit dons were online and were, from what i understand, readying themselves to take care of the situation.

the specifics of the situation i am currently discussing in a private conversation with boss pj, which is quite kind of him, being a man of his station and considering i am but a poor gangster making my way up in this world. yet as i said there and i'll repeat here again, i want to know what everyone thinks about the general, unspecific and not at all meant to put anyone else's panties in a bunch situation of shooting someone from another family without even a nod towards the family leader themselves.

i'm merely suggesting that doing things like that creates dramatics that are unneeded in this line of work. or again, am i wrong? to put this in terms you might understand, sir, if i were higher ranked than you, and more 'important' from other's point of view, would i be allowed to shoot you without obtaining your bosses permission if i felt you had somehow disrespected me? or, as i feel, would that be disrespectful to you, your boss and your city?

Yes he would have been. Although I could see if the Godfather wasn't seen back before the pro was over. Hardly an hour passed before he was seen though.

Mac has said nothing out of line by referring to PoisonousJelly as The Acting Head of LA. It is a more accurate description of his current role than soon-to-be-Godfather. In a criminal culture where traditionally cities are run by Godfathers or Godmothers, those put in place to lead a criminal empire in lieu of a Godfather are often reffered to as acting Boss or Acting Head.

He approached the few still gathered on this corner and spoke quietly, one could never be too careful these days, never knowing who was listening to your every word, or who would turn rat for a measly ten grand. Fuck it, some things just needed to be said.

Surely we do this for a reason. I know that, however poor a shot I may be, and however futile my attempts at shooting are, the single largest purpose for me carrying this lump of metal on me all day is to defend myself, and to defend my family. If someone shoots at me, surely I have a right to shoot back, even if it is to distract them while I make my getaway.

The boss got lucky today, his bodyguards saw the assailant in time and bustled him to the ground so the shot went wild... if I were in his shoes, my instinct would have been to shoot back the second I heard the shot, or if I were lucky enough to have a more skilled member of my family close by to ensure no second shot was coming then to call on him or her to get the job done for me.

This isn't about training your skills on another family, this isn't about some asshat randomly shooting whomever crosses their paths. PJ was attacked. He had an absolute right to return fire, and exercised that right. I cannot believe that our society, this thing of ours, has descended to the level where the right of a family head to defend himself instantly is even called into question. PJ didn't attack Detroit today, he defended himself against someone who had clearly acted as a so-called rogue.

Right, wrong or indifferent, Boss PoisonousJelly has the right to return fire. There was no need to wait for the political aspect of this thing of ours to kick in. If people dont like that, tough shit. For anyone to believe that PJ was to just sit by and twiddle his thumbs while Detroit handled this situation is crazy.

If you like whats happening in Los Angeles or not, Boss PoisonousJelly did the proper thing. The situation was handled as it should have been in my eyes.

I knew Al. Good guy with nary a mistake made in his whole life. But who can read the mind of a dead man? Surely not me. Maybe he was trying to say something, and maybe the events say it all. Like Mac I need to understand how things really work, unlike Mac, I got it figured out. I will say this, Al had a nice funeral and the note pinned to his chest kept me from being named Poisonouspeanutbutter...can you imagine?

See the problem here is simple. You got some that approve of what's going on and what not over on the coast, and on the other hand, some feel cheated thinking, "Hey I've been around longer. It's my turn. Don't let a boss do it!".  See the fact of the matter is, if those disagreeing were fully ready to handle such a position of power, they would have already been chosen. People don't want to wait there turn around here anymore these days.  Everybody wants to jump at the opportunity to gain power and authority, but as the good saying goes "good things come to those who wait".  PJ's father, Jono, a great man, I served under him myself.  I watched young Jelly as a young man growing and becaming more wiser.  I watched as his father layed their, blood dripping and gasping for air.  I watched Jelly work his way through the Philly crime scene from RHM to a city family, to filling the shoes of this father, and becoming 2nd in charge of the whole city of Philly.

Sheesh!! I was always tought to shoot twice in a pinch.  Fucking softies been changing "this thing of ours" for a while now.  PJ did what any HEAD OF A CITY would have done, anybody with 2 fucking balls or a raging PMS would have done.  He protected himself, his family, and his city from someone acting as a rogue and going against the blessings of the GF/GM.  That in itself was a smack in the face to the leaders of our whole society.

If I did the same as Al, I would get down on my knees so Godfather Pedro could have the best shot at ejecting my brains out my ears.

Respect and loyalty is what we're built on.  Al was disrespectful for shooting at a city head, and without authorization at that.  Plus Al forefited his loyalty by acting on his own as a Rogue.  See ole Marley likes to be comfortable and all this bitching about things the upper structure of our society have already settled is starting to piss me off.

But hey, to some I'm just the RHM to a Boss who's City Head out in LA.  I don't have to state much more on how I feel about the shot taken. Many CL's have already spoken on how things work and should be handled in this situation.  My thoughts only echo theirs.  Great minds think alike.
