A young man walks up to the streets and waits for the rather small crowd of active street talkers to gather round. Hello ladies and gentlemen, And He/Shes. What I want to come to talk to you all about and get your opinions, Is 'Jumping ship' Is it Ok? Is it not OK? What I mean by it is, In times of war, When you are sure your family will fall, your in your last hour, Is it ok to jump ship? Join your enemy... Take up arms against your former family even... Answers I give, Is obviously 'No, No it isn't. especially after the rank of earner plus, Would you be willing to leave the people who have helped you live and looked after you for so long, and join the opposing side?' That gets to my second point, Why do they even ask? What made them think you would be that disloyal? Are they not just insulting you by saying you break Omerta and will destroy your own reputation just to live? I always go by the rule, 'Only ask of someone, that you would be willing to do yourself.' Much the same of the rule, 'Treat people how you would like to be treated' That is why the 48 hour rule is there is it not? Because if you was new to the shores, you would want to be given time to adapt? So basically I just want to know your opinions, Should people be asked? When is it Ok? If ever. |

Jumping ship is betrayal. Only after your family has gone down, if you still stand in the dust, should you join up with other ranks. And certainly not with your enemy. IT is unhonorable otherwise. |

When your family is in the middle of a war i feel that if you were to leave your family for the enemy then it is completely unacceptable. However once your family changes the situation becomes somewhat different. From my view you have 3 options: 1. Go out fighting 2. Join the enemies family 3. Join a neutral family The first option obviously has some sort of heroic appeal and would be seen by many is seen the honourable thing to do. Indeed you do sometimes get a number of rogues pooping up in the event of a crewleaders death however these generally dont last long with the exception of one or two. This option should probably be reserved for high ranking members of a family with good guns. Secondly joining the enemies family, in my opinion, is completely unacceptable. Your honour is completely cast aside and yet this does in fact take place. Honestly i could never do this myself but it is upto a person to take whatever action they need to to stay alive, even degrading yourself in this way. Finally the most feasible option in my eyes, joining a neutral family. It is supercedes the other choices as it allows for further advancement and possible eventual action against the hostile party. Either this or completely starting again with this new family. |

But should you join another family? Your leader has just been shot. But is your family only your leader in bold? Whatever happened to Earner plus 'having to die.' Death is the only way from a family. So you cant just join another right? |

| well that is seen as the correct thing to do but it doesnt exactly always happen as im sure you well know. Next war keep a close eye on what family members with no homes do, invariably they will try and escape with their lives. | |

If you go to sleep, and wake up in the morning without a family, what would you do? Rogue earners have no chance at living really. I've had many bosses die on me, and I usually go down with the ship, but I think that after your family is wiped out you owe it to them to try to keep on living so that someday you might be able to actually take real revenge for them if that is what you seek, or to just keep on living. If your boss is gone who takes his place as number one? You. Always protect number one. |

wow lots of memories for me here. I remember reading about when my family was new to this world how, when my ancestors leader had fallen lots of his high ranked and trusted members left to join other families. Ok it was not the same people that had took down their former leader but he thought at the time that something wasnt quite right with that seeing as himself(only an earner at the time) wanted to stay on and help as much as he could fight against the person that had killed his former boss. We recently saw a situation like this with the killing of the former CL Rhett when some of his high ranked and trusted members set up and joined together to rid the world of the person who had killed there former boss. What would have happened if they had all just decided to go join someone else and not fought? yes it is a hypothetiacal situation but it is something to think about all the same. personally if I ever went down in a war. I would expect the people who had helped in the Family to do what they could to carry on the fight and I would feel both angered and betrayed if any of my family who had worked with me for a length of time joined somebody else. Mmm You say, Take revenge but does anyone ever get round to real revenge, And if you plan on revenge, I take it you would be planning on telling the neutral leader you have joined of your intentions? Nope thought not. |

You wouldn't no. I am not the revenging type myself, but if I were to want to truly be able to do so, I'd try to either A) sway my neutral family against them or B) wait it out until I can join a family against them. But honestly, I'd much prefer just living. And you didn't answer my other question. Most of the times my family has died leaving me alive it was done in my sleep. :| |

Boss I see what you are saying, But those that set up in that war, was not set up after Rhett had died, They was 'Authed' in the enemy's city in order to help their advance before Rhett had died, Well that being the onces that made a difference. But I also would be very annoyed if someone had been fighting alongside myself and then joined someone else and the fight didn't go on. |

The anwser to the question I didnt get round to anwsering, What I would do is, Take up arms against the killers of my family one way or another. But I would be firing as soon as possible. Thats just me. Rank not considered in the slightest. |

Knight, I respect your decision to 'take up arms against a sea of troubles' and by opposing, get your nuts shot off. But immediate violent response is not always the best way to help your former family, and not always the most fitting testament to their memory, if they believed in something greater. |

Everyone is entitled to their own personality. I myself wouldn't always do one thing or the other. It depends on the circumstances really. If I had my Boss die and then the others were being relentlessy killed by my bosses killer I would no doubt go after them immediately, whereas if the killing stopped with the boss then the war stopped with the boss. Or maybe not depending on lots of factors. |

You know.. Ive seen people who are/were leaders in this world jumpship in their old family to stay alive. I wont name names, but I have seen multiple multiple now high ranked members of the mafia jumpship to save their own lifes. Is it right or wrong? Well they must live with their choice and I personally think its wrong. Especially when the leader is still alive and you jumpship to survive.. Yawns and remembers half of DiscoDuck's family leaving during a war.. and some of them getting auth later down the road.. and some ranking up high.. but where is their loyalty? |

See, when ever the crewleader dies, you can always tell who the loyal ones actually where. The one's who went down fighting, bitched and moaned. I would much rather "rouge it up" and know many of my ancestors have in the past, then ever join another family. Unless my leader was an utter cock. Whilst the most effective rouges are thoes with a good gun, lets be honest. Nothing like bringing 10 people down with you, the fact that you are rouging it up shows that your are honourable and loyal and will die fighting. Fuck all ship jumpers past and present, except for one. <3 The man disappears. |

| Well look at the situation I was just in. My crewleader died unexpectedly. I'm forced to find a new family because my old family is just gone. I don't think I'm really switching sides or anything because I don't want to die for being unsponsored. :P | |
