Nothing can replace heart, the beginning years of Sammy Started by: SammyEric on Mar 23, '16 19:54

Jackie and Alfie were making a plan, they were going to start a riot in the prison. Jackie would start making rumors in the jail cells about other gangs in the jail. This would cause an uproar, and give Jackie enough time for Jackie to break out. Alfie would get a beating for a fight earlier on but steal the keys from one of the guards to get out.

Jackie goes back to his cell, and waits. He hears the gangs in the cells start to get out and riot. Jackie and Alfie nod to each other, and start to head to the jail exits. They beat down a few of the guards, and quickly dress as the guards. The rest of the guards trying to fix the riots, and fix the mess that Jackie and Alfie started.

They both walk out of the exits, kill a few guards on the way out, or ones that thought they looked suspicious, and they hide the bodies. They finally leave, they figure this plan won't work again, so it's best this time to stay undercover. Jackie and Alfie drop the outfits, and start walking down a random road. They figure someone will pick them up along the way.

Report Post Tip

Seeing that the driver swerved out of his way, Bladedrevived knew one of two things would happen either I was gonna die or I was gonna get the shit kicked outta me. I thought that maybe I could reason with the driver so instead of running away like any normal person I stood strong and ready to take whatever they were gonna deliver, because after all it can't be worse than dying right?

Report Post Tip

Karmen did not reply, so SammyEric figured he better just keep on driving. When they arrived at the prison, and went inside, it was quite shocking to Sammy. He had never been exposed to death much before, so this was a shocking sight to him. Karmen advised him that they should get back in the truck and go searching. She was experienced, a real thinker, and she knew that Jackie would not be found here and that he had facilitated his own escape. "But why didn't we see him while driving up this road," Sammy asked. "He could not have gotten very far." "He is not alone," Karmen thought to herself. She knew that no-one could do this escape single-handedly. The two got back into the truck to go searching for Jackie. What happened was that Jackie and Alphie had hidden in some bushes when they heard the truck coming. They did not know if it was a stranger, more cops, or what. But as the truck came back down the road, the two were back to briskly walking in plain sight. The truck slowed to a hault. "Good Morning! How are you," Sammy asked, as if he didn't already know how Jackie was probably feeling at this point in time. "Get your ass in here before more of the fuzz figure out what just happened." Sammy stared at the other man. "I assume, judging by your clothes, that you must be responsible for helping my boy escape? Get in."

Report Post Tip

Now standing on the side of the road Bladedrevived saw and immediately chased the truck, Thanks to being in track and staying fit I was able to stay close to the truck for most of the drive away from the prison until of course I ran out of breath. "Damn it!" I wheezed before taking deep breaths to regain my lost stamina.

Report Post Tip

Karmen breathed a sigh of relief when Jackie and his friend climbed inside the truck She had been silent for awhile because she was worried about the state in which they would find Jackie..

She gave him an awkward hug over the seat and said, "Glad to see you're safe. I don't know what I would have done if you would have been gone from the family!! You're a good friend! Anyways.. Sammy.. Good driving.. Good job spotting the guys.. Jackie, good job getting out! So, now what do we do? Do we interrupt the alcohol transport and keep the profit to ourselves? Or do we do something else? Did you guys plan something while you were locked up in there?"

Just as she asked the question she spotted Bladedrevived running behind the truck and told Sammy to stop so he could get in. When Bladed finally got in the truck, she asked again, "So, what do we do now? What's the plan?"

Report Post Tip

Jackie, looks over at Alfie, and says,"Alfie is a baker, and is in charge of the Jewish gangs in the LV area. He sells all over the place. So we are going into business with Alfie, and we will take over the alcohol transportation over time. Alfie knows a few guys that will get our money back from when we got robbed from the last deal that I made. So we are all set. As for the little man, I will deal with him on my own time. He won't get very far."

The group looks at Alfie and Jackie. Alfie looks over at Karmen and Sammy, he says,"You boy, you new here, I will put you to good use later, as for you Karmen. I will make you in charge of what comes into LV, and what leaves. Jackie will be around roughing people up that gives us trouble, and making business deals. Unless, Karmen you want to work with Jackie is up too you.

Jackie nods his head, and says, "Let's get started."

Report Post Tip

Karmen thought for a bit then said to Jackie, "I think I'll try my luck controlling what goes in and out of Las Vegas. Seems like a good job for me. Let's just hope I don't fail, huh?"

She laughed a little to ease the tension in the truck, then continued, "Alfie, I'm Karmen, by the way. Nice to meet you."

When he nodded she said, "And actually, Sammy could work with me on keeping an eye on things. It would be nice to have two sets of eyes, really.. What do you think, Jackie?"

Report Post Tip

"Question," Sammy said, as he felt a little more confident about his situation among the group. "Where am I gonna stay? I mean, I know that Blade put me up in his place for the last two days, but where's the best place for a newcomer to lay his head...I mean...where it's my own place, no offense Blade. I just always felt like a loner at heart, plus, hard to get down with the ladies if your address is your buddy's couch." The whole truck cracked up into laughter.

Report Post Tip

Jackie looks to Karmen and says, "Sounds good to me, but Bladed will know who he works for, right Alfie?" Alfie gives Jackie a look of fear.

Jackie says, "That's right Bladed, you have to carry my mark for this, so I know your loyalty."

Jackie nods over at Alfie to hold Bladed down. Jackie takes out a carving knife, he takes the knife and cuts a large mark on Bladed's chest.

Jackie, says,"I'm going to make sure you never talk, to show you if you talk to anyone, or anybody about what we do, I will bring more out the most brutal tactics to make you remember my name, you work for me now, understand?"

Bladed nods in agreement, and Jackie says,"Clean him up for me Alfie, he will be a great asset to the team."

Alfie says to Bladed, "That is the same mark Jackie got during the war, he gives his associates that mark, to show not just fear, but power. You work for him now, until death."

Report Post Tip

"So who do I talk to about getting a fake ID, I wanna enjoy my time here, and can't go around like this, wearing these clothes and having no ID. So someone needs to point me towards the nearest clothing store." SammyEric had wild thoughts in his head. Mostly of fortune, but also of fame. At this point, he didn't really care if it was for the right reasons...or the wrong reasons. He just wanted to make a mark. Sammy was still somewhat scared about the man in Kansas City, and also kinda scared about how his family was coping back home with his disappearance. He could be turned in to the authorities as a run away or as a missing person. "Jackie, Karmen, is there a way that I can disappear? Not literally, I mean figuratively. How can I cover my tracks from running away from the farm, to beating the guy in Kansas City, and arriving here? The good thing is that nobody here knows who I am, which gives me the advantage. But agents in Arkansas are already probably looking for me. Won't take long before someone pieces this together."

Report Post Tip

Karmen was still trying to calm down from watching Jackie carve up Bladedrevived's chest when she heard SammyEric ask where he can get a fake ID and to be pointed towards the nearest clothing store. She said, "I could get you an ID in less than twenty minutes, and I would love to go shopping. I know the best store!! I go there all the time when I need a new dress. And they have a men's section of course."

She got lost in thought for a bit when she imagined shopping, but was pulled back when Sammy asked if there was a way for him to disappear. She said, "Well, you get a new look. Maybe dye your hair, wear a different style of clothing, and you'll be fine. Once you're eighteen they can't bring you back to home anyways. And about that guy in Kansas City, no worries. We can take care of that for you."

She smiled and said, "In fact, I think the guy was already taken care of last night. I had a guy go out there and do the deed. He's not dead, but he's scared for his life I'm sure. So, no worries about that."

Report Post Tip

Sammy pondered what this meant. In his eyes, it gave him a euphoric sense of power. "I have the connections to have people taken care of? This is pretty interesting," he thought in his mind. He quickly changed his focus back to driving. Sammy even waved out the window as the truck passed a parked police car on The Strip. Of course, after they were a little further, he stuck a middle finger up.

After getting permission to use the truck from Bladedrevived, SammyEric dropped off Jackie and Alphie, and took Blade back to the apartment. Sammy trusted Karmen and her judgement about changing his look. They entered the clothing store and it was a big impression for Sammy. His mother had made most of his clothing. Karmen led him up and down each isle of the men's wear section, and of course she had to go up and down every single isle of women's wear, makeup, jewelry, scarfs, hats, and every other thing you could imagine a proper lady to wanna browse for. When they reached the counter, Sammy was a little embarrased. Karmen was obviously going to pay for all his clothes along with the things she bought. Sammy was old school, he believed that men should never be ok with watching a lady pay for things. He thanked Karmen several times on the way to her office. Sammy was kinda humiliated, but also proud, that this group of people had helped him in all the ways that they have. As she got out of the truck, Sammy was able to get out one last question to Karmen. "So, tell me, you must have friends. Where are all the ladies at in this area?" Sammy was being a typical young adult, but he was never allowed to date back home, so he felt that it was his time to experience his freedom a little. Karmen was out of the question, but Sammy figured she may know some people that were more in his age range.

Report Post Tip

Karmen had a blast in the store with SammyEric, picking out clothes for him here and there, picking out tons of things for herself, trying out different lipsticks then putting them back and grabbing unopened ones.. She didn't mind paying for everything. She had more than enough money for it so it didn't bother her at all. She kept telling Sammy to stop saying thanks, but it was no use. Eventually she just said you're welcome times fifty and laughed for a bit before getting in the truck for Sammy to drop everyone else off and then drive them back to her office.

She could tell he was a bit humiliated about it all but she said, "You'll be more thankful for this when you're not forced to go back to Arkansas where you came from you know.. So just think about that. No need to be humiliated. Consider it to be a huge gift from a friend!"

He smiled a little and she continued, "I picked up some hair dye too. Hopefully you don't mind this light brownish-blonde color. Figured it would match your eyes.. Or something. Once we get you all changed up, we'll go pick up your new ID and you'll be set! Then we can start keeping an eye on the transports that go in and out of Vegas, since that's what I signed us up to do. So you go put this dye in your hair. Make sure you read the directions and do it properly. And I'll get to work on getting your ID, alright?"

After that, she set out to work on getting Sammy his new ID, and waited for word from Jackie to know where to start looking.

Report Post Tip

Sammy walked up to the sink. He took a long hard look at how he looked now, and for some reason he wondered if this was a mistake to alter his looks. But he knew that certain measures needed to be taken. He knew he was in deep enough with the group that if he tried to bail for any reason, he was most likely a dead man. He squeezed the bottle into his hands, and rubbed it onto his head. "AHHHHH," he screamed as he just remembered that he had a scrape on his head from the barrel he hid in a few days ago. It felt worse than alcohol and far worse than peroxide. Sammy started dancing around the public bathroom of the coffee shop and wailing in pain. He then opened his eyes to rub out the tears. BIG MISTAKE! Some of the dye had seeped down his forehead and he rubbed it directly in his eyes. "WAAAA, AHHHHH, SHIIIITTTTT." Some of the dye made it so far down his face that he was also tasting it.

Sammy came out of the bathroom, with red eyes and puffy cheeks. He looks like he just went 12 rounds with the champ. But his hair was now changed. "I sure as hell hope getting the ID is easier than this," he wimpered.

Report Post Tip

Karmen looked up from some paperwork that she was doing to see a red-eyed SammyEric coming out of the bathroom. She had to stifle a giggle and said, "Looks good to me, but.. what happened in there? I see it got in your eyes.. Hopefully you got it all rinsed out of there! Oh and your ID is finished already. Piece of cake. So now we take the truck over to the guy's house and pick it up, then head back here and wait for word from Jackie."

She paused to put her shoes back on then turned back to Sammy and said, "If anything, you can go home to handlebarz' Headquarters, sleep in your own bed, then come back here in the morning.  You could even get him up to speed with what is going on and see if he'd be interested in helping. We could make this a Vegas deal! But I'm getting ahead of myself so.. ID.. Let's go."

Report Post Tip

When they got in the truck and she handed Sammy the piece of paper with the address on it, she remembered that SammyEric asked her where to find chicks in Vegas. She had never really went woman-hunting but she figured she knew a couple popular hangouts.

She said, "While I'm thinking about it, since I forgot for like an hour, if you go to any local bar in Vegas, or even a concert hall, you might find some good women. I always see them gathering around musicians. Maybe learn to play a guitar, you know? You'd be swimming in chicks in no time!"

She laughed and turned her head back to the window to watch the buildings go by while Sammy drove them to her ID maker's house.

Report Post Tip

"Whose this chap here?" the gray haired man asked as Sammy and Karmen entered. "I am SammyEric, but you can call me whatever you have printed on that ID you just printed off.'' "Kid, you remind me of me back in the day," the man said with a laugh. "Karmen, how the devil are you? Or should I say she-devil" he said with a laugh as he gave Karmen a hug. The man reached into his desk and pulled out a thin plastic ID. "There ya go." Karmen handed the man an envelope. The man took out the money and grinned. But then he looked up at Sammy. Sammy was also eyeing the money. Even though this was a relatively small amount, Sammy had never seen so much cash. "Tell ya what kid, here...take a little," the man said as he thumbed some bills off of the cash. "You obviously have not had a good life, and I know em when I see em, when it comes to having a rough life. Do me a favor. You take care of this lady for me, Karmen is practically like family to me," the old man stated. Sammy nodded as he reluctantly accepted the money. "Now get outta here you two, it's late for an old man."

Sammy dropped Karmen off at her office. He really wanted to go enjoy the night life, but he knew that his body and mind needed rest, and that it may be best to save this money he was given. He really wanted to go to HQ and see about a bed, but instead he chose to go to Blade's for one more night. Sammy stretched out on the couch and soon was sleeping.

END OF DAY

Report Post Tip

SammyEric awoke to find that Bladedrevived was already gone. Sammy called Karmen, but strangely got no answer. "This is odd," he thought to himself. But as he put on his new clothes, he realized an envelope in his pants pocket. He opened it, and it read as follows: "Sammy, this is the boss. I need you to do me a little favor. One of our loan-sharks is having a little trouble convincing one of our clients to pay up. I need you to go over to the Strip and let him know that if you don't pay you don't play. The address is listed below. And give this lady a call, MsContent, she's good a these types of negotiations."

Sammy called the person listed in the note and arranged to pick up MsContent in the truck that Blade had been loaning him. The two drove to the bar that was listed as the address for them to negotiate. They stepped in the door and Sammy yelled "clear out if you don't want taste steel," as people started racing out the door. "Where the hell is Borelli?" A somewhat obese red-bearded man pulled a club out from behind the counter and calmly set it on the bar. "Yeah? I'm Borelli, who the hell are you slim?" the man growled. "Guard the door," Sammy told MsContent. The woman slammed the door closed and locked it, and pulled out her gun while crossing her arms. She smiled a devilish grin at Borelli. He was beginning to become afraid. "So, pal, you can try to take that club and charge at me, I can stick that club up your ass, or you can take a seat and we can talk about how much cash in that register we are going to take so you can pay our loanshark back. Which of those options sounds good for ya pal?" Sammy asked him. The man took a seat. "Ok, let's begin negotiations," Sammy said. But quickly, the man jumped up out of his seat and headed toward the door. When he reached the door, he laughed and said "honey, do yourself a favor and step aside. I don't wanna have to bust that pretty face of yours." MsContent just continued to smile. Finally, Borelli raised his fists and swung. Quickly, MsC moved to the side, grabbed his arm, and had him in an armlock behind his back. She pressed her gun into the back of his head. "I guess you didn't like any of the options we offered you, so how's this...we blow you away now, take all the money, and our family takes over this business." The man gave up his pride and said "ok...ok...you guys mean business, let me go over to the till and see what I got. What do I owe?" Sammy looked at the note from his pocket and replied "300 but a little extra may help smooth this over with the boss." The man counted out $500.00 in cash and slid it to Sammy. "Mr. Borelli it was a pleasure being at your establishment, if anyone asks you tell them NOTHING happened here!"

Sammy drove the money over to HQ, with MsContent riding along. "Gimme just one more second inside, go ahead back to the truck," she told him after they gave the 500 to a crew member at HQ. Soon, a back gate opened up and MsC came out driving a car from HQ. "Drive the truck back to Blade's place, and I will follow in this car. Take me home in this car, and drop me off. Then you are free to go, this car is your reward for pulling off this job."

Report Post Tip

"This kid could prove useful, very useful." MsContent tapped her fingers on the steering wheel as she drove to Blade's. Her thoughts meandered away from loan sharks to other, more sparkly ideas that were forming in her head. Almost missing the driveway entrance, gravel flew as she pulled up behind Blade's truck. Sammy walked up to the driver's door, but she waved him over to the other side.

"I have one stop to make before I go home, you don't mind, do you dear?" She barely waited for Sammy to close his door before she was tearing down the road toward the diamond district.

The sedan slipped into the alley next to a brightly lit storefront, and Sammy caught up with her clicking heels as she opened the glass door of a posh jewelry boutique. The clerk behind the counter recognized her and immediately started to proffer the latest items they had purchased while on a trip to Europe.

MsContent looked at the jewelry carefully, remarking on it beauty, and noting its quality. Several large diamond rings and a beautiful yellow diamond pendant slipped through her fingers as the clerk brought more items for her perusal. A sapphire bracelet sparkled against her black silk gloves, and a ruby broach brought a special smile to her lips.

Sammy quickly grew bored, thinking she could have done her shopping after he dropped her off. He was just about to wander towards the door when he heard her voice rise and the clerk started to fumble and apologize. Sammy ran over, asking what happened, and the clerk became even more agitated and nervous.

"Did you know these jewels are part of war profiteering going on overseas, taking advantage of the poor citizens trying to recover after the Great War? They were trying to pass them off as newly cut and original!" Sammy could see the sweat dripping off the clerk's forehead, and listened to his mumbled apologies as a seemingly irate MsContent headed out the door. This time he found her in the passenger seat, and a gloved finger pointed down the road.

"Hurry hon, I don't have all night!" Sammy drove away, his heart starting to race just a bit as he realized she was still admiring some large pieces, as she held them up to the street lamps and watched them glitter.

Report Post Tip

"Thanks for your negotiating help," Sammy said with a laugh as MsContent got out of the car. Sammy was glad to have another business partner that he felt he could rely on. He was also beaming with joy over his new car. "No problem, I always enjoy twisting a few arms," she said with a chuckle. "By the way, give this guy a call, his name is ALPO. He is new in the biz and maybe you guys can kinda strike up a friendship or at least a business friendship. He is learning the ropes just like you. I know of one more job that I may can convince the boss to let you two work with me on." She walked inside her place, and Sammy drove to the coffee shop. Sammy ordered his favorite expresso and then took out the number that she gave him.

Ring-Ring-Ring. Sammy was about to give up, then "Um, hello?" answered the phone. "Yeah, this is an associate of MsC. SHe told me to give ya a shout and see if you may be interested in working with me on a possible job. She also said you are a new guy, kinda like me, so that we should get familiar with each other." The voice on the other end was a little nervous but finally said "yeah, I am ALPO, I know her, she helped get me in to a small job a little while back. Maybe we can have a drink sometime and talk." Sammy gulped down his last drink of coffee and said "Yeah, we should. I will be available anytime today. I also plan on seeing what kind of job MsC may have for us. The best way to learn is by experience."

After hanging up the phone, Sammy figured he may want to browse some of the local stores for things to freshen himself up. After all, he had slept on Blade's couch the past few days and had not yet taken a shower since he arrived in LV.
