| Hmmm. Who To Choose | Started by: Washington on Dec 08, '07 16:05 |

As a young mafioso, I am given the task of which family to join. I, of course, use the term "family" loosely, as I realize many are simply crews. Of course, my first choice would be Oliver_McTavish. It seems he-she has eliminated competition, and none of the other leaders have bothered training anything that resembles a gun that could hit him-her. I'd certainly be safe here, and, I know due to Oliver's warmongering ways, that I could get an opportunity to shoot some shit up soon as well. Bonus! That'd almost be worth having to put up with JohnnyAxe's "Do as I say, not as I do" policies. Alas, they're full. Darn. What about Jay-C? He's a Boss, and has shown his loyalty to Oliver by being his-her little stooge for quite some time now. No doubt he'd be a safe haven. Of course, my ancestors have tried that route. He's known for demanding his crewmembers contact him before each attempted shot they take, then shooting the targets himself or passing them to his Right Hand or other pals. I seem to remember my Grandpa talking about how unorganized his HQ is as well, as well as how they seemed more interested in poker games and coffeeshop talk, than interaction with little nobodies. Hmmm...might pass on that one. RonMexico! Another Boss! Well, barely a Boss, but a Boss nevertheless. He's one of the slowest ranking leaders out there, but certainly he's kissed enough ass for me to be safe with him. Of course, if he were to piss off Oliver, he'd be flattened, seeing as how he hasn't been arsed to put in much effort other than putting down the little "noobs" in the streets. Certainly, his gun couldn't protect him or his family. I suppose I'll keep looking. TylerDurden might be interesting. I realize he hasn't put a lot of effort in as well as ranking to Boss quickly isn't all that much of a chore, but, at least the guy has tried to learn how to use a gun, even if it's not that great. I think the biggest problem here is his Right Hand. I mean, she's nice enough, but seriously, do I want to put up with 19020934320098 mobmails from her per day about what music she's listening to or what drink she's drinking? Again, she seems nice, but she's not that smart either. Sometimes you have to explain things to her 3, 4, 5 times before you get an understanding giggle from her. What would she do in a time of crisis? Hmmm, with that kind of unpredictability, I think I'll keep shopping. Moretay...well, the guy finally made Capo. It's only taken him close to two months. And who is this guy? Sure, I know him as being a loud mouth, less than witty, ass-kisser in the coffeeshops, but what has he done around here? 600 messages sent? 9 original speeches started? Such a low work ethic, coupled with the lack of ability to speak in public, certainly he'd be one of the bigger candidates for a shot through the skull. Do I really want to put a lot of effort into this world, only to be gunned down serving a guy like that? Probably not. Next... Ah, Sal. Here's a guy that deserves a crew (I mean that too). The problem is, he's only a Wise Guy. Again, Sal is a great leader, surrounded by a lot of good people, but seriously, he's the best available to lead? Certainly others that have put forth A LOT more effort would provide a more secure home for their followers. I'm not sure that I can, with good faith, join a Wise Guy, and feel safe. I like Sal, but I can't waste my time in such an insecure environment. What else is there... Hmmm. That's it? Well, it seems that my choices are few and far between. My grandpappy's journal spoke of a time when those that worked the hardest led the families, alas, this doesn't seem to be the case any longer. Perhaps this world isn't for me. |

"I have to admit, it's always refreshing to see someone come into the streets and speak their mind. It happens so little, that it always takes me by surprise. Of course, we live in a world where truth and disrespect are perceived to go hand in hand - hence why Mr Washington here won't live much longer than a day. "And I can also predict that some others will come racing to join in the conversation branding Mr Washington a coward for saying what he has here and "hiding" behind the mask of obscurity - although I think anyone with two brain cells would be able to correctly guess the lineage of Mr Washington. "Perhaps instead of just shutting our eyes and ears, jumping in to defend our honour or even trying to justify to ourselves that what has been said is all speculation, we should take a moment to consider whether there is truth to these words - only the leaders themselves will know if it is. And from there take the criticism (where true) as constructive - however "disrespectful" you may deem it to be. I think complacency is a disease and it is something that can decimate whatever structures and ties we spend our days building upon in this world. |

| Good point St-Stephen, like we can't all guess who's son this is spouting off because Daddy got found out and shot. What a horrible thing to do to a family traitor, tsk tsk. What is our world coming to? But, if I should be wrong and he is not this person's progeny, then let's hope he stays unsponsored, we truly do have a lack of target practice these days. | |

Nice one, Elana. In a few short sentences, you proved twice that you are incompetent. First you implied that someone should be killed based on their lineage, then you expressed hope that more should stay unsponsored so you can use them for target practice. Two brilliant ways to promote growth around here! Brilliant! Not. |

Family traitor? I suppose you all have bad intelligence again, seeing as how I find it hard pressed to find a family head that would have ever labeled my ancestors as that. It amazes me, that only Cathy gets what I'm saying here. Hey, I'm sure all the leaders are "nice guys" (and gals) in their coffeeshops. Again though, aside from the half-witted "you're a whiner" comments, nobody ever addresses the facts presented to them. I have simply come forward as a "typical noob" to point out what is seen from this perspective, and many of you have rushed forward to point fingers at the "complainer". Kudos to you. How novel you all are. At least you're doing your crew duty by taking place in street conversations. This world is in shambles. |

| Not my point at all Buster. His lineage should mean nothing unless he is here to extract revenge, which he sounds to be. And that is not the kind of person we need in this world, I would advocate the shooting of such a person within the policies versus new or returning progeny without an agenda | |

well looks like we have another tag team here. *sigh* I think voicing your opinion is fine and along as your willing to pay for it fine. but to listen to some more quarrellings that prove nothing besides that nothing is going to be proven is lacking the necessary entertainment i seek honestly if you want to change something the streets is probably the last place to be. When more blood is shed for all this maybe a lesson maybe learned in a linage and the streets can be clean of this filth once more i must say THIS IS THE MAFIA dog eat dog world |

And yet, if there is no debate, no questions raised, and only flag wavers and those looking to introduce a new crew to our world, how stagnate will this world become? Again, address the points I raise. Telling me I'm wrong is nothing new, and are you really teaching me a lesson in respect? Of course not. THIS IS THE MAFIA. Respect is earned. For me to give up 24, 48, maybe even 72 hours to wait for my son, or his son to begin ranking and training a gun again quietly, doesn't set back my lineage one bit, even if they wanted to live in a world like this. It's a shame that people aren't interested in the problems of this world. Step one is to identify them, and until you do that, you'll never find solutions and ideas to make this world the great place it used to be. |

I should have added the words "are allowed to speak" in between "introduce a new crew to our world" and "how stagnate will this world become?" |

| Would this world be less shambolic if VonGaunt had not been destroyed moments before being given a family of his own then? Does this all boil down to you still whining about that "injustice"? | |

I dont know Washingtons lineage and honestly couldn't give a shit if he was loved or hated. His points, be it fact or fiction, have obviously drawn some attention. This makes me think a bit. Could it be that there is a bit of truth mixed up in this speech and hes gotten a few folks that are loyal to their family on the defence because of the truths. Someone smarter then me once said: "There is always a bit of truth in all sarcasm" though this isn't exactly sarcasm...it still makes me wonder. I'm not saying that any of this is true or that all of it is false, its a perspective and for what ever reason our friend here sees things from this specific perspective is in his mind and only his mind. If you dont feel threatened then ignore it, no sense in feed the cause of someone that was looking for attention...on the other hand, this is a debate and as I have always said, A good debate..or any debate for that matter, HAS to be confrontational, and Mr Washington has absolutely done that. Kudos to Washington for creating a debate that is confrontational. It is, unfortunately, a sacrifice that will more then likely result in your death. In the mean time, debate on! There is really never any structure to what I say, its at best a ramble of thoughts, spit in no decernable order that makes sense to me, and not likely anyone else... |

I'm not sure that VonGaunt or his relatives ever complained about death. What I do recall is VonGaunt's relatives coming to the streets and pointing out real situations and questioning the motives of those that claimed to have motives, only to be labeled a whiner. I think those that got to know VonGaunt would realize that he, being in charge of his own crew, wasn't high on his list of his priorities. Of course, we'll all be labeled. I'll always think of Schwarz' lineage as cheaters and dishonorable members of the community. I mean, anyone that would wish diseases upon their fellow members is a downright shitbag. Still, as big of losers as I believe his lineage to be, if (and this is a BIG if) he were ever to bring facts or real problems to the streets in a debate, I don't see where his past would be of any relevance. Facts and concerns should be addressed, and not just passed off as the bitter ramblings of some dude that died. |

Oh my I think I may have struck a nerve by bringing up the death of the poor VonGaunt. As hilarious as that scenario was i.e. One minute delighted about getting authed and the next crying at the death screen, I can appreciate why it would provoke such a reaction from you. I am truly sorry. Can we just be friends now? p.s. The only thing I wish on my fellow members is a Merry Christmas and many happy returns. |

| You brought up your point, and I threw out my rebuttal. I have yet to ever hear of VonGaunt's relatives crying over any of the accusations you throw out, just as I have yet for you to address any of the points I've ever brought up. | |

The point wasn't whether or not leaders are dickheads. Honestly, I believe there's a time and place for everything, including being a dickhead. I'll always think highly of you Sal, as you've carried yourself very well in the short time I've watched you around our streets. Again, my only concern about your family was your rank. Other than that, you're one of two current leaders that I find capable of leading (McTavish being the other...despite my dislike, he-she has done exactly what a crewleader should to ensure the survival of their family). Of course that is pure opinion. My hope is that someday, my family will arrive on these shores to find that those that work the hardest, reap the rewards of their hard work, and that the little coffeeshop cliques don't dictate the way of the world as it does now. FlyingPig once said said something that resembled that and was applauded. My, how things change. |
