| Will's Corner: Are You Entitled? | Started by: WillHayes on May 07, '16 16:05 |
|
So you think you're entitled to something? First, I suppose I should define entitled for those of you who don't quite understand what I'm talking about. Entitled: believing oneself to be inherently deserving of privileges or special treatment. Now that you know what it means, I'd like ot discuss this issue with the youngsters. This is not a new topic. In fact, I have talked about this issue before. But, based on what I've observed in our community, I thought now would be a good time to present this topic to educate our youth. And let me say this. WE are responsible. At least partially, for creating these monsters. As soon as they arrive on these shores, we chase them. We shower them with unwarranted compliments, and tell them how much they will improve our crew. Lies, all of them. But we're a needy bunch. We need the services of these youngsters. And they are few and far between. And the families in these citites...are not. So, we work so hard to tell these youngsters how worthy they are, and almost beg them to grace us with their presence. So, yeah, we are at least partially to blame. And let's be clear. Their heads do grow. They believe themselves to be inherently deserving of special treatment that they have not earned. And that's the rub. They actually think they have earned it. Why else would all these crews be lining up to enlist their services? It must be because they're so great, right? At least that's what these youngsters think. "I must be the shit because all these crews are knocking down my door. They know I'm worth all this." "Yeah, I got me an invite. That's it? Pfft. I deserve more. What else can I get?" So, these youngsters enter this world and immediately they are courted, bedded, and housed. They, with their big heads, join a family and think that's just the beginning of the benefits they are entitled to receive. They seek money, they often do nothing, and they think they can talk to anybody however the hell they want to without consequences. Because, after all, they are the chosen ones. They stroll aroud town talking to whomever they want, and sometimes saying the most obnoxious things. Then their leaders - me for instance - have to trail them around, apologizing for their stupidity, offensive behavior, and basically for the entire male species because these momos think they are entitled to do whatever the hell they want. They don't take the time to learn simple qualities like respect and honor. They don't think they have to EARN anything. It should all be given to them because of who they are. Respect: Don't come to this world and think you are entitled to respect on day one. You've heard it before, and you'll hear it again - respect is earned, not given. Learn it, live it. And by the way, soliciting a Godfather(mother) for $350 is not respectful. Dumb Ass. I can't believe I have to harp on this issue so frequently. You are not entitled to act like an ass. Honor: Consider this just an extension of respect. Live your life honorably. That basically means to live your life with dignity and distinction. Still don't know what it means? Sigh...must I do everything? Figure it out. Damn, stop acting so entitled. Look - we bear some responsibility for these entitled youngsters. We shower them with attention, tell them how wonderful they are, and offer them a place in a family after little or no effort. So, while this is not an indictment of current recruiting practices (that will come later), we need to understand that if we continue to engage in these "recruiting" practices, we are helping to create these entitled monsters. And as for those of you who feel entitled because families shower you with that attention, kiss your ass, and offer you a home after you've put in exactly zero effort - You are not entitled. You don't deserve anything. And frankly, you'll be lucky if I remember your name until you are worthy of me remembering your name. Yeah, that's right. I said it. I don't know who the fuck you are. Even after one of my sponsors has invited you to join this family. You are not entitled to shit, and I don't yet have any investment in you. So, if you decide to act like you're entitled, so some stupid shit, and expect to go on free of consequences, then I say - Bahahahahahahahaha. And...Bahahahahahaha. So - get over the fact that you were "wanted" and remember this...nobody gives a fuck about you until you prove that you are worthy. Now, there are obviously measures in place to ensure your successful transition into this life of being part of a family. And we will invest the time and energy to ensure that any and all of your questions are answered. And we will guide you. We will take the time to break you down, so that we can build you up the right way. And in case you haven't gotten it yet - the right way means you no longer feel entitled, and that you live your life with honor and treat everybody with respect. So - you still feel entitled? Why? And what can we do to dissuade you from this silly belief? So, please, educate me. Why do you feel entitled? |

I think a lot of it has to do with how important some bloodlines are before their current kin has made an effort to do anything. They automatically get things based off their line and not their efforts well before the effort begins to show through. So many times there are people that watch this. They will begin to believe that if one of their line was the best in their time at something that they are entitled. We do in this community give too many double standards and it begins to create little monsters. I will tell you flat out that I believe I am entitled. But I don't believe I am entitled to hand outs. I believe my line is entitled to live peacefully without the negative snide remarks. Does that fall into the same thing you are talking about? Possibly. Its still an entitlement of sorts but I don't believe auth should just be handed out or promised to anyone straight away without the effort, but we see this happen sometimes. Perhaps we should look at stopping the double standards that are created and raise our standards up just a little bit more? |

I don't know Will. I might be entitled. My family has a rich history here, spanning over many generations. My ancestors have been leaders of men, leaders of the ENTIRE country at one point, and ran the place the way he wanted. Multiple godfathers and crew leaders run through my blood. So much experience passed down from Father to son through many generations. I don't believe I'm entitled. My bloodline has done everything he has ever wanted to do in their career. My father, grandfather and so on and so forth, recently haven't given it even a percent of what would be expected of my "bloodline". Some people don't care for previous blood, but you'd be silly to believe no one cares. Many people get their positions SOLELY based on whom their parents or ancestors were. The only way you could prove to me that people aren't entitled is when leaders die, and there spot is taken by the kids of the fallen leader. My father was a RHM for BobBobBobby? Well, I'm his son, so I should become RHM when I'm of age too, right? Wrong. nice speech though WillHayes. I did like it. |

Now Tweeday...you may actually have the right to feel entitled. And with every rule, there are exceptions. With that much rich history running through your blood, I think you deserve some of the consideration that those who lack such a history seem to expect. And your discussion has made me think about this issue a little more. The most interesting thing is - with your rich and impressive history, I bet you are the furthest thing from entitled. You come from such an exceptional history and yet you thought only to put in the work to prove yourself. I imagine every member of your family has lived life the same way. Work hard, and not expect others to offer you handouts. The way it should be done. So, thank you for making me think more about this issue, and for proving that it tends to be those with such a long history that recognize they shouldn't act entitled, even though they may have every right to feel entitled. |

Oh, The-Gambler, didn't see you there. My apologies. I appreciate your position. And I'll tell you why you're wrong. You can pull a couple lines from what I said and try to prove I'm being hypocritical, but I'm not. Here's the distinction: Just because you haven't done anyting to earn my respect doesn't mean I won't treat you with respect. Understand what I'm saying? I may not respect you...yet, but I can still treat you with respect. Get it? Probably not, but that's okay. You don't have to understand, or agree. If you happened to stay for the rest of the speech, which you probably did not, you would see that even if you haven't earned my respect yet I'm still going to make every effort to break you down and build you up. That means I'm going to work on ridding you of this belief you are entitled, and teach you how to live life the right way. But you skipped over all of that and decided you'd continue to live your life feeling entitled. Good on you. Take care. |

Thank you mister Hayes. Hard work and trying to attain recognition for such work is really what everyone should be attempting to do. My line has worked under some of the best hitsquads, the most charismatic leaders and perhaps some of the nicest people in the area, so to say. The people who taught my first ancestor coming to America years ago would be very unhappy with my line if I became some kind of entitled twat. I've always been one in my history to see hardwork and recognize it. Perhaps a year ago, maybe.. 16-18 months ago, my ancestors were definitely self entitled tarts. "I'm the son of blahblah, where are my bodyguards? I have the training prowess of my parents. GIVE ME WHAT I WANT" Basically.. And leaders *would* give them what they wanted, because they were lethal hitmen, they had a silver tongue, they brought gold to the family. My ancestors were useful, and they knew it.
After coming across a speech by the man named 'Grin', I came to the realization that I wasn't shit. Every son is his own, and shouldn't be held to his parents regard. Papa was a rogue? His son shouldn't be held responsible for his actions. Every life is a new one. At the same regard... Papa was an established crew leader who died to a random gun malfunction? "Oh you're the son of x.. Here, here's $200 million for 175 bodyguards. You'll get an HQ when you become Made Man too". Not fair, right? Like I said, good speech, mister Hayes. |

Myrddin was wandering around the streets trying to find something interesting to cure his boredom when he stumbled upon WillHayes speaking. He initially didn't expect much(not because of Don Hayes, but, rather because of his experiences with horrible speeches/arguments on the streets in the past). Fantastic speech, Don WillHayes. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of your speech and some who have responded, as well. I only wish that your dissenters would use actual arguments rather than act like five year old children. Five year old children that appear to probably have felt entitled at some point in their bloodline's history but since they didn't get what they want, now roam our streets being nothing more than a blight on our society. |

Doesn't matter how long I did or didn't take to appreciate Don Hayes well spoken speech, really. Doesn't change the fact that I liked it. |

Johnny listens to the Don's speech with pursed lips and a wrinkled brow. After hearing the debate rage back and forth he decides to speak up. "While I agree that it is only decent and proper to treat people with respect, especially the made members of our society, I feel you are being hypocritical here WillHayes. It wasn't so long ago that I was one of these 'youngsters' you speak of; Wet behind the ears and only a second generation mobster. Had I joined your family you would have me respect you without you respecting me? Why should I as a young mobster respect you, straight off the bat, without speaking to you? I would of course show you respect, as is only proper for someone of your rank and position, but in my eyes you would have been just another in a line of crew leaders who paraded themselves in front of me, flashing a bit of leg and fighting for my attention. You demand that they respect you while you fall over yourself like a desperate salesman to persuade them to join you. You've freely admitted that these associate are nothing more than fodder to you once they sign on the dotted line, so without your guidance and direct supervision I can't see how you can complain when some of them step out of line and do something stupid and I definitely can't see how you can tar the rest of them with the same brush when one of them does. I've always found that if you make the effort with them, young associates will generally respond well to it and become valued members of the family. Obvious there are exceptions to this rule, but the occasional idiot shouldn't rob good associates the chance to have an attentive, respectful crew leader." Johnny nods his head to the Don. About to step back into the crowd before he remembers women4Trump. He turns in her direction, looking her up and down in disdain. "Having said all that, you women4Trump are an absolute joke. People like you are what make crew leaders jaded and aloof towards genuine young associates who want to get ahead and learn the ropes. You hang around the streets, bitching and moaning about this leader and that leader not treating your dearly departed with enough respect or whatever other banal, vapid cause you happen to be championing. Spouting abuse that leaders made decisions that you don't agree with, as if people should sit up and take notice of this young civilian with her refreshing new ideas. Who are you kidding? Do you think people value your opinion? Do you think coming to the streets and debasing yourself in some misguided attempt to 'stick it to the man' is going to get you anywhere? If you really want to affect change, you need to be respected by all of the community, young and old, powerless and powerful. You and the others like you, are respected by neither. Oh and by the way, your business card makes you look like an idiot. Juanita made a complete fool out of you and the fact that you think it might have been the other way around is both hilarious and embarrassing. |

So not only are you arrogant and flippant, but inconsistent and presumptuous also. It's good to hear you """""""respect"""""" your self admitted cannon fodder who you also admit you don't respect but kind of but not really but can't remember their names oh well. One day medical advancements and society will finally reach the point where some of the most complex surgeries requiring only the world's best surgeons will be available to the public. At that point, and only at that point, will you have the medical assistance required to finally have your head surgically removed from your ass. |

What a lot of you seem to fail to realize, and maybe Will is failing to convey as well as he would like here is there is respect and there is courtesy. Will doesn't demand you lick his boots, he just wants you to show him courtesy, the same thing everyone else wants. No one wants to be insulted all day, they want to be treated with respect. This is a courtesy. This is what Will is trying to say when he says he treat you with respect, even if you haven't earned his respect. He won't follow you into hell because he doesn't know you, but he doesn't want you to, and he wont call you a dirt eating shitbag.
Do you get it now? Will is basically saying we should treat each other the way we want to be treated. It's basic common sense. If you don't want to be called an asshat, don't call someone else one. |

Yeah he thinks he's worked out how common courtesy should work and then contradicted himself by showing not even the most basic level of it. We don't need to gather around and listen to someone explain how basic respect works, much less someone who believes them-self to be above demonstrating it. |

The hulkster was practicing his normal muscle poses in the mirror when he realized the food he was cooking was done. He quickly ran over to take the chicken out of the oven and smiled from ear to ear. Staring ever so intently at the chicken the hulkster whispered to el pollo, WHATCHYA GONNA DO WHEN HULK-A-MANIA EATS YOU?! as he was preparing to serve himself, he was ever so alone, he heard a bit of rumbling from down in the streets. A wise guy who from the beautiful city of brotherly love quickly cared to fire back at the Detroit crew leader William Hayes. Hogan brushed the remarks off to the side as the streets can be quite irritating at times with individuals vocalizing their thoughts and opinions that aren't really leading anywhere. But then a sentence uttered from the mouth of senor Hayes ushered itself into the ears of the hulkster. "Yeah, that's right. I said it. I don't know who the fuck you are. Even after one of my sponsors has invited you to join this family. You are not entitled to shit, and I don't yet have any investment in you." Hulk, concerned and perplexed at this sentence, immediately tore his shirt and ran down stairs to the streets. So convenient that this argument was occurring so close to home and he heard ever word. The streets a place where words echo forever. WELL YOU KNOW SOMETHING BROTHER, I THINK YOU HAVE MADE A MISTAKE THERE AMIGO OR MAYBE I AM JUST BOT PROPERLY UNDERSTANDING YOU! A brief moment for some flexing. And back to the action. YOU SEE IF SOMEONE JOINS YOUR CREW I THINK THEY ARE ENTITLED TO PROTECTION FROM YOU DUDE! TO TELL ONE LITTLE AMIGO THAT HE ISNT ENTITLED TO ANYTHING COULD VERY WELL MEAN THAT HIS LIFE IS NOTHING TO YOU AND MAY MAKE HIM SWITCH HIS LOYALTY FROM THE TAKE A BULLET TO A MORE CARELESS STANDPOINT. Hulk who put on another shirt while he was walking down the stairs decided to rip it off. The pecks were in full flex mode. NOW I KNOW THAT IS NOT WHAT YOU WOULD LOOK TO CONVEY IN YOUR STREET SPEECH! RATHER WILL THE REAL DEAL, I KNOW YOU ARE TRYING TO INFORM INDIVIDUALS THAT THEY ARE TO EARN YOUR RESPECT WHICH, IN MY OPINION, HULKSTER HAYES, IS VERY VALID. A CREW MEMBER NO MATTER WHO THEY ARE OR WHERE THEY HAVE COME FROM MUST EARN EVERY OUNCE OF RESPECT FROM THEIR LEADERS. IN DOING THIS THEY MUST ADHERE TO THE GUIDELINES AND REGUATIONS SET BEFORE THEM. AT THE SAME TOKEN THEIR MUST BE A SLIVER OF RESPECT YOU GIVE TO YOUR NEWEST RECRUITS AS YOUR SPONSORS, THE ONES YOU ENTRUSTED TO BRING TO THE LEVEL OF RECRURITER, HAVE SPOKEN FOR THESE PEOPLE. IT CAN NOT BE CONFUSED EITH THE SAME STANDARD YOU HAVE FOR YOUR LEADER IN SPIKE. THAT IS A RELATIONSHIP IM SURE WAS TESTED IN FIRE TO BE GOLD, LIKE MY CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE. A NEW RECRUIT, IM GUESSING, HAS ONLY THE UTMOST HOPE FROM YOU THAT THEY CAN BE SOMEONE ONE FINE DAY. THAT RECRUIT MUST STILL EARN THEIR KEEP AND EARN YOUR RESPECT. Quick pose for the ladies. WOULD YOU AGREE DUDE? |

Thanks Hulk. I appreciate the comments. I acknowledge that my statement may be perceived as harsh. And perhaps it is overly harsh. And maybe I'm wrong. It's been known to happen. I am not always right. Certainly as much as I would love to be, I am not always right. But maybe I'm not wrong. Maybe I just stated my position a little harshly. It's true - if one of my sponsors invites somebody, I don't know who they are. Should I be expected to know who they are? It's an interesting discussion that I would like to have with people. And I would like to open it up, but we'll do that later. Now - I want to get to know everybody that joins us. So, I try to make myself available. I sit in coffee shops, I often send mails, I spend time in the HQ, and around town so that I can get to know the people who join us. Can I do more? Sure. If there were 28 hours in the day, I would do much more. What responsibility should these youngsters bear? Any? Maybe. But I'll tell you what - I can see that some may perceive there to be error in my ways. So, I will do more. I'll rearrange this and that, and spend more time getting to know these young folks. I still can't possibly know who they are when they join, nor will I respect young civilians, thugs or gangsters - who've not yet done anything to deserve respect - but I will make every effort to get to know everybody quickly and make sure they know what they need to do to earn respect. |
