Fear and Loathing | Started by: PhelixTheSphinx on Mar 12, '10 19:21 |
Phelix grabs his cigar and lights it, glancing at the crowd beginning to emerge. It'd been a while since he'd trudged this particular part of town. What part of town? The docks. Where it all began for him. Things hadn't changed much in the years since his ancestors had first arrived here. The first thing you heard getting off the boat was still a gunshot. Still saw the vomit inducing homeless men sleeping on the sidewalks and park benches. Just, now, he wasn't one of them. |

O'Banion Stand as he watches a great New Yorker give his speech admiring ever word for what he has said and being proud of being from New York his self. As he stand's in all from the speech that PhelixTheSphinx just gave, shaking his head and clapping in astonishment. |

Phelix stops mid-stride, and turns to the man who's had the nerve to speak up. |

It's good to hear that you're coming out of the shell. I look forward to hearing about the things you find horrifying. I believe there should be some accountability although I hope to tame O_Banion a little bit before I think he's ready to run a crew. I wouldn't want people dying for what should be just a minor infraction. I mean, some people deserve what they get when they post things that are too out of place. |

Phelix smiles at CrazyNine. The Ex-New Yorker turned Godfather was always a delight to be around. He picks up on the statement about O_Banion, and smiles broader. |

Mystery thinks long and hard about what he wants to say, and how he wants to say it. "With all due respect Phelix, not everybody is made out to come and voice their opinions. I myself think that right this very moment I should not be speaking. My line has been killed far too often for getting into heated debates with those who outrank him. If someone has a problem they can do two things about it, grumble/bitch/moan about it to themselves, or come out to the street where more than likely you'll find people ready to mock you." Mystery shuffles his feet and continues. "On rare occasion will you actually find someone to help you through your problem, explain something to you, or debate your given topic. It's those times that get interesting. It's those times the streets are worth coming out to listen to. But still I stick to my original statement, not everyone is meant to come and speak." Lighting up a cigarette, Mystery is clearly nervous. Continuing on anyway with his blabbering, "I don't think my street appearances are anything special, therefore I reserve them and only come out when I feel that it is necessary. I will agree with you that more people should be less afraid, but in some instances being a mute is okay too." |

After speaking to one of Phelix's henchmen, Tyrion lights a smoke and wanders over. Tugging at the collar of his long coat to hold off the breeze coming in from the water. Approaching he nods to CrazyNine, O_Banion and Mystery then stands beside Phelix. |

Phelix walks over and shakes Mystery's hand. Just by speaking today he has cemented the facts that Phelix had been trying to make earlier. |

Concealing the package in his jacket, Phelix nods at Tyrion. Wouldn't be the first time they'd made a transfer of funds in public. Not like his bodyguards would let anyone bother him for it. One desperate guy had tried that once. His family had received his left ear and a blood stained shoe in the mail three months later. |

That's just the thing though, sir. Not everybody's kin learn from their parents death. I know that it's taken my line quite some time to know when it's alright to get into a debate. I'm still not one hundred percent sure that I should ever speak because of them, but sometimes it's a must. I completely agree, if someone has something to say then they should say it. Sometimes the frustration and anger of the topic leads to things being said that shouldn't be, though. As long as they can keep their temper under control, anyone CAN come out and make constructive appearances. |

You have once again found the key to what is needed. You understand what need be done, but is it in you to do it? You are under no obligation to speak by me. I am happy to speak in private with you if that's all you want, I just believe that if you have a desire to speak in public you should. I'm not saying go out of your way to speak in public. |

Mystery chuckles at the last comment. "No disagreements here sir, I can fully recognize that temper is in my genes. That is why as you so accurately put it I am a "half-mute." I do not feel the need to come out and say "good read," to every newspaper, nor do I feel the need to congratulate EVERY leader on getting auth to set up. I feel quite often that people just bull-shit most of that stuff to boost their street "credit." "If you've never even spoken a word to a crew leader, let alone any of their ancestors, who the hell are you to tell them congratulations? Granted if you are a crew leader yourself, or a hand, I can see that as perfectly acceptable. Not that what I think is acceptable means anything, but that's neither here nor there." Mystery hands Phelix a cigar, as his had just gone out. Lighting it, and then his own, Mystery continued. I truly wish that everyone can learn from whatever got their parents killed. When I started out off the boat everybody was convinced that I wouldn't go far. Given the relationship of my leader and my line, nobody in their right mind thought I would make it past Wise Guy. However coming to the streets only when I have something to say, instead of bull shitting it, here I sit a Made Man today, talking to the Left Hand Man of New York. |

Mr. PhelixTheSphinx, Sir; I would like to thank you for your post. It comes from obvious thought and intelligence. Sometimes it is difficult for me to know what is expected in the streets & I appreciate the guidance. |

sneakyrat listens to Phelix's speach... shakes his heads and walks away thinking this will never change. And talking about it is unecessary, the new off the boaters will always be affraid of beeing the mock of the streets. They are smarter than we give them credit for! |

Gaius looks at the amount of disrespect that has been shown towards his Godfather's Left Hand Man and begins to feel his blood boil. He looks at sneakyrat and pulls a gold lighter from his pocket, lighting a cigarette he begins. |

Listening from the sidelines, he wondered if he should speak out his mind too. But the well dressed Don was encouraging everyone to do just that, especially someone like me, who's just starting a life in the mob. |
