Admin crews Started by: TimothyPetrov- on Sep 15, '16 17:07

The suggestion is this.

Have a set amount of players volunteer for admin crews that can house people temporarily after a large war.  In no way can these accounts ever become player accounts and people can join them freely from the start.  These admin sponsored crews would only be set to active via an administrative allowance and would have no ability to make money, transfer money and interact with anyone outside of their own recruits and the population currently without a family (this include mail).

It would be the understanding that the homeless could come and go freely provided that they have never had a family before and players can have a player account on top of their admin crew account if they wished to remain a part of the playing environment.

Otiag the suggestion actually differs from the 'container crew' system and thus it is rather useless to link to that.

Report Post Tip

Thank you Otiag for pointing this out.  There is a difference though between what is currently live and what is was suggested here.

This suggestion focuses around container crews being a permanent feature with container crew staff accounts being unable to ever take part in the game.  They can have player accounts at the same time if they wanted that have nothing to do with the container crew accounts.

Container crew accounts would have all features disabled except for mail and the ability to wack the people under them with a 100% success rate.

and the ability to post in their own HQ, that would be allowed as well.

I see I was too brief with my previous reply. What is the reason to have permanent admin run crews with the implementation of container crews? The idea here is for the admins to affect the game world as little as possible. Surely you can see that establishing permanent crews does exactly the opposite?

Report Post Tip

Administrative accounts that serve the population when the need to house players exceeds the current capacity should in no way overlap to the playing environment.

They should only be here to house the population that needs housing and should serve a similar role as helpdesk does.

Report Post Tip

The game offers a 2 day window of protection already, this is ample time for a player to find a home should they wish to (With exception to current situations in which a massive war wiped out the majority of people who could have been authed to run crews leaving a void of crews).

By all means, convince me here. I am not trying to run you over, or discourage you from suggesting things to help improve the game. I just currently don't see a reason for implementing this suggestion is all.

Report Post Tip

Creating container crews composed of players that can freely build their stats while being exempt the laws of the land that everyone else has to play by certainly is not the answer.

We saw this before with Sprozza, he was an unwackable, sent players to his friends families while denying them to people he was not familiar with and afterwards was allowed to continue on using the gun he had built in this time of invincibility as any other player in the game.

Certainly I am not alone in thinking this is unethical to allow?

TimothyPetrov-,

Things are a little different here.  The CL themselves can not be killed by a player, but, if another CL demonstrates it should happen, they will be killed by myself.

They have no boosts whats so ever in their accounts.

And, as we said before, every crew in the game is encouraged to have 1 sponsor in each container crew so that they can build up relationships with associates they bring in and take them with them to the new auth/existing crew that their old crew is offering.

No member is allowed to be promoted to made man, nor is any member forced to stay or go anywhere they do not want.  Members are encouraged to find homes.

Squishy, the main thing that I think many people will take issue with is that they should not have to run a reason by you for wacking any player account in the game to begin with.

If they have a reason to take someone out that for themselves is good enough and they have built up the level of skill to act upon what they feel is a valid reason, then they should be allowed to do so and deal with the repercussions of their actions as any other player in the game.

There should never exist a situation that allows anyone to grow their account while being exempt from the internal politics that governs the rest of the user base as it allows for the possibility of abuse.

The only answer I can see that is completely fair is to make all container crews staff accounts on par with helpdesk and make them completely outside the playing environment.

They should be here performing a service to the game that they enjoy.  If they are compensated for their efforts in the way of credits while playing on a different user account, I don't think anyone would take issue.

Report Post Tip

If abuse happens, I'm sure we will be notified and we are prepared to deal with it.  After this whole process is done, I'm sure we will also have learned a few things and if we need to do this in the future we will have a better grasp on how to do it.  I feel pretty confident that none of the accounts that became a container crew today will be up for enough time to build an account that would not easily be put into check once they time as a container crew is over.  We are talking weeks, not months.

^---- The above post was me.  I was in his account working on code for Container crews and saw this and replied... Soooo that reply is from me, not him :)

Report Post Tip

The container crews are not a permanent addition, nor are the accounts involved in them permanently invulnerable. The expected lifetime of them is a couple weeks at best. If someone can manage to build a gun big enough to be unstoppable in that time, they are a legend and deserve the spot. :P
