Paddy was wondering the streets of the motor city, handling his business and keeping to himself like always. He was young and new to this thing of ours, he didn’t have very many associates or many connections. He reaches inside of his overcoat and pulls out his cigarettes, lighting one up in the cold harsh winds of Detroit. He preferred the cold though, growing up in Boston he became accustomed to it. As he lights his cigarette his stomach suddenly begins to growl, and he decides it’s time to take a break from business. The young mobster wandered the streets and walks into the first diner he finds on the street. As he pushes his way inside, the mobster puts his cigarette out and walks to a table in the back where he takes a seat. A few minutes pass and a waitress comes by, Paddy tells the lady his order, minding his manners and being very polite to the young lady. She writes his order down and disappears into the back, returning within minutes to bring Paddy his drink. Paddy thanks the lady and lights up another cigarette as he waits for his food to come. Minutes continue to pass and Paddy’s cigarette was out before he knew it. Just as he was about to light another one up the waitress appeared with his food, and set it down in front of him. With a smile, Paddy thanked the woman again, this time handing her a few 20 dollar bills as a token of his appreciation. He begins to eat his food, very evident he was enjoying it. As he wrapped up his meal, he pulls out his cigarettes and leaves some more 20’s on the table before walking out and getting back to his business. |
