Time. Who really has it?

Who truly can say they have all the time in the world? And what would the world say in return? We go about our lives without a care for it until we suddenly realise we may need more of it. But what is it? What is this thing that people always talk about? Is it simply the tick tocks between the moving hands on a clock? Is it something we can point to and say ‘here it is, I’ve found it!’? And when we are in need of more of it, where do we go to get our fix?

What really is time? And how do you experience it?

BCP listens and ponders to himself. Sipping his flask he really thinks about it before saying his piece to the masses.

What is time? Who truely has it? Not I. In the things I do, no one knows. I figure a many of you can relate to that. You never truely know if you have too much, not enough , or just enough. I mean a bullet can come from anywhere. So who really has the time? Not I. Not I. So live it like you don't , because in this world, more then likely you will not have the time.

 Kate raises an eyebrow. There certainly had been more philosophical questions on the streets lately.

"I don't think anyone can lay claim to unlimited time. If they did, I assume the world wouldn't have to say anything: it would just wait until whoever said it was dead and prove them wrong."

She crossed her arms.

"Time is a transaction- and a limited resource. Every day- every hour- every minute- we have to trade our time for something. It's the transaction and it's also the cost of doing business. If we need more? We go to the doctor. Or a bar, to try to forget, I suppose."

Cami joined the gathering crowd, thinking about the time she spends in life, and how she spends it, what matters most, etc.  She smiles impishly as she walks over to Axel.

"Not to worry Axel....I have the time.  It's almost noon."

She winks.

"But seriously I have to say I never really think how much time I have left in this life, or to an extent I don't.  Sure most people want to live as long as possible, but living each day, for me I want to live it to the fullest, not dwell so much on how long I have left to breathe."

Cami begins to tap each of her fingers counting off thoughts rolling through her mind.

"Did I check in with family members seeing how they were handling things? Did I tell my bossman how thankful I am to have joined the Garden of Eden?  Did I help someone in need of help?  Did I make someone smile or laugh in the midst of a bad day they were having?  Did I, or will I encourage someone today?"

She waved her hands through the air as she spoke.

"There is just so much I wanna do in life, and day to day it can be a struggle to find all the time necessary to accomplish what I want to do.  Yet I will still persist day to day as if it is my last.  Why wait until tomorrow what I could have done today?"

Her expression turned more thoughtful and serious.

"How do I experience it?  Well I am gearing towards exploring how much potential and creativity I possess in this life, and ready to unleash it.  I want the fire I have inside me to be like a wildfire, unable to be contained, spreading everywhere affecting everything I do, and how I portray myself and mia famiglia."

Cami smiled knowing Axel would understand she didn't want to destroy things, just spread the "fire" among their fellow mafiosi.

Vincenzo listens to the ongoing discussion and finds himself pondering why he chose this lifestyle in the first place

Certainly, we don’t have unlimited time.

I chose a life of crime knowing full well that it was the only way I could ever experience all of the money and pleasures that life has to offer. The price – there is a very high chance that my time on this planet will be cut significantly short because of this decision. Do I have any regrets?

No, I would choose a shortened life of crime a thousand times again, knowing that all I have to do is follow the code of my family, not the much more restrictive one of society as a whole.

For me, time is overrated. So many people put time at the centre of their life. Gangsters like us have clearly chosen less of it, but to live every moment to the full, and when time is called on my life, I know I will have no regrets.  

Veronia ponders through all that shes hearing and really likes what she hears.

"Time is an interesting concept if i do say so myself. " Veronia clears her throat.

" Ms KateLogan and Ms CamillaBalistreri both have an interesting and ideology about time. I agree with the fact that we are on a limited supply and its what you make of that "time" that really measures the concept of what's important. I really enjoy the thought of "unlimited possibilities" that can be done or what you as an individual would like to accomplish in life. "

Time we measure in such a limited time-frame. Example i see is .. we give ourselves, humans a "lifespan" what we can call the average of life.. but really as you both stated we don't have much and i really enjoy the idea of living everyday focused on the what and how.. and not so much of the time to do it in. 

As for what we do within our life of crime? Well nobody holds the key to when that is.. but as long as your overlook on what you do is good and want to go far.. why not stop at the concept of time and what you have left.. leave nothing to regrets and for everything you want to do seek to do it to the best of your abilities. 

So for me  Axel, i think that time is something that we measure.. i may not live the next hour.. the next day but i will try my best to not let it get to me. I want to think that what we do with our life is unlimited but the "time" is unknown. So think hard and do what you would today on your last day alive. 

I often stop and think about what I wish to achieve in this life and wonder, will I have time to do it? Or will I meet my maker before achieving my goals? And then I realise, its all outwith my own control. So I dont worry about.

In fact, as I say this, an old friend has just had a letter delivered to my humble abode alerting me to the fact that in the next month I have a very important birthday coming up, 4 months is an important date in the life of us mafioso. But like I said, dare I dream? I dare not. It's like I'd be wishing my life away by watching the clock and waiting for time to get where I want it.

Instead, I simply focus on what matters most, my family. I spend my time working around the clock, pardon the pun, to sort things that we are working on together. Opening of shops, family contests and so on. Being a leader is very time consuming and so really it takes it out of my hands for me anyway. Time is simply a luxury.

In short.. I'm now behind on what I need to do as I took too much time discussing time. Oops.

I once heard that, Time waits for no man, therefore it must obviously be a woman. I had a friend once share with me that he had hoped before he died he would have just enough time to look at a random stranger, point, and whisper to him, "You did this." 

BrotherHec laughs a little and as the joy leaves his face he allows himself to be more serious.

Time is life. What we do and what take part in. It is our very act of life measured out to give to others. This is why i believe we are all so much more fulfilled in our life when we choose to give back to society in different ways. When we choose to help the homeless and teach the youth of this world ways to grow. Time is life. 

When one chooses not to invest into his or her life fully they are simply not making the most of their time. In not making the most of the time that they have they are not only robbing themselves of a life that is fully enjoyable but also of others in and around them. This becomes a tragedy i feel, because it is at this stage we will never know how great some could have and would have been if they only spent a little more time here or there.

Time. We hear about how the older wish they could go back and just have ten more years. We hear how the younger wish they could be older by just ten years. We never hear anyone happy or settled with the time they are given. This is the biggest waste of time. To choose to live in times past or future is to waste your present on hopeless thoughts and regrets. The present, that quickly fading moment, that is the beauty of life. The realization that we will never have tomorrow back after it leaves.  

This leads me to further ask one other thing. Where is time best spent? Is it with those we love? Is it with making money? Is it with running our mafia syndicates and creating the greatest empire of petty criminals? Time best spent. Is it objective? Is it subjective? Is it relative? To each his own i say but as long as one has his own. As long as his own is the understanding that he is not meant to be restricted to one part of life but all that she teaches. This to me is why Time..Time is life and life is time. All life is in time not all life is lived in time.
