| Another Godfather Requirement | Started by: Snip on May 12, '10 06:33 |

This may not always be the case but sometimes when someone is trying to get the rank of Godfather its mainly just that Crew Leader doing heaps of jail breaking, pettys, felonies and posting to get the required amount of points. Now I like the current requirement that a person needs to be 120 days old and has to have 30 members but what I think should also be needed is in that crew their must be a minimum amount of 10 made man ranks or higher.
Reason I would like to see this implemented is because for the Crew Leader to get the Godfather rank it becomes more of a team effort. It's not hard to get 30 members, if you are with the right people then it's not hard to survive for 120 days. But including the fact you need made man in your family means you need to encourage people to achieve that rank. I know some people would think this just encourages crew leaders to press the promo button. But making someone into made man is a big thing, and if you just promoted them without thinking if they deserve if then it could end up biting you in the ass later as some crew leaders have already found out so it's their choice.
Currently not many crews have over 10 made man or higher in their crew, so for them to achieve Godfather not only do they need 30 members, not only do they need to survive for 120 days but they also need a solid crew with members who can achieve the rank of made man and up making them really part of their family.
I also hope this stops the increased amount of Godfathers who are popping up then disappearing after some war to be forgotten. The Godfather rank is something to be admired and respected but it hurts when I see certain fools in that position. Luckily right now we have great Godfathers since the only not so great one disposed of himself.......
I would like to hear anyone's opinion on this or maybe someone has a better idea or this suggestion isn't needed what ever the case I'd like to hear it. |

I agree, Kerrrupt was an example of the Godfather that just popped up, to get the 30 man crew, he had Richard send him over some members, so adding this in, would also make it harder for people to do this, because they would have to have 10 Made Men+. Also it will show that the crew leader has the capabilities of being a good leader, to be able to have 10 Made men in your family is quite a hard thing, though there are quite a few families that have more than that. A very well thought out suggestion, I love it :) |

If someone had all the requirements apart from the 10 Made+.. say 8 or 9 (or even less) Made+, how many people would wait to find someone worthy of the Made rank? I honestly believe this would cheapen the rank of Made Man, and would encourage leaders to promote people who are not worthy of the privilege just to get their own promotion. |

Not many people have got to GF - no last the length of time required means that they would have survived numerous wars and have needed to be on good terms with the existing GFs - it's not quite a points exercise - though I do see some merit in this suggestion. |

If crew leaders want to promote wiseguys to made man when they don't deserve it then that's their choice. Nothing stopping them from doing that now, we all know the more made man+ a crew leader has, has benefits to the crew leader them self in many ways. You say this would cheapen the rank of made man when I think it would make it a more valued rank which right now is not looked at as it use to be. If crew leaders just want to promote guys who don't deserve made man then so be it, they run the costs if those made man screw the crew over, we have seen occasions where because of the actions of a high ranker the entire crew is wiped out. Crew leaders want to run this risk just by promoting members to made so they can get Godfather then its up to them.
What I'm trying to get at is making the achievement of the Godfather rank a team effort rather then just one guy trying to get points and accept whichever members he wants just to get 30 members. I use Godfather Kerrrupt as an example because he is the most recent bad example of a Godfather I can think of. This isn't to say a crew leader who has 30 members, is 120 days old and has 10 made man is going to be a great Godfather. That's not the point of this requirement the point is like I said for the achievement of the Godfather rank to be more of a team effort and for the rank it self to not be as easy as it currently is. Such a rank like Godfather should not be easy at all and only the best should be capable of getting that rank and I'm all for making it more difficult for someone to get Godfather just so they can really prove they have what it takes to get the rank. |

If the other Godfathers see fit to put someone in the position of leader of a city, is that not enough proof? |

Just to add, out of 17 crews(not including Godfather crews) there are currently 5 which have 10+ made man or higher ranks in their family |

Not at all, for someone to deserve their rank they need to fulfil the requirements, be given the opportunity and then once Godfather prove the rank is theirs by running a city successfully. That then is proof and like I have repeated the purpose of this requirement is not necessarily to see who really deserves the rank though it helps but for the achievement of the rank to be a team effort
A crew leader willing to do that doesn't deserve the rank, if you want it get it properly. I am sure people will find out that this crew leader got the rank of Godfather the cheap way and will not be looked upon nicely at all which could be a very negative impact on the new Godfathers rein in their city.
You are thinking that with this requirement crew leaders will start promoting wiseguys who don't deserve the rank. Well first of all there isn't a point for a crew leader to do that unless he has Godfather points, has the right amount of members, has been alive for 120 days AND is currently in a position to get the Godfather rank. Now if a crew leader does indeed have all that then it is his choice to promote a person or not. Crew leaders do it now and you make it seem like only if this requirement were implemented would crew leaders start to do it when even now crew leaders still do that. Hell you could even add further to the requirement that a crew leader has to have 10+ made man or higher for a certain period of days. This won't cheapen the rank unless a Crew leader wants to do that there by proving the type of person they are and whether they would be a good Godfather or not. The fact a crew leader needs 10+ made man (person being made man or higher being truly considered as the family) would not cheapen the rank. But like with most things if a crew leader wants to go down the wrong path then they can its their choice. |

And what happens if a Crewleader cannot find people he trusts enough to promote to Made? He is supposed to just sit there and wait? That would not happen, like I originally said they would just get someone to transfer members to them so that they could get their promotion then transfer them back. It is not about being 'the wrong path' it just makes business sense to gain that rank as soon as you can.

Requiring team effort to get to Godfather is a great idea. But i dont think that this is the best way to do it Snip. Giving another reason for a CL to promote someone to made man is not the best way. I know a CL could always do this for other personal reasons that already exist which is far more than enough in my opinion. I see your point and it is a very good one. Team effort should ,be required though. Sorry but i have to agree with Afro here. I would like someone to come out with a better solution because the problem exist in my opinion and a solution to it would be great! |

I feel there are too many ways to cheat around this, like Afro mentioned. Too often would the case be that an eligible Godfather would merely transfer Made Men to his crew for the purpose of this promotion--which would then negate the entire rule itself or worse, promote ineligible Wise Guys with a button. I understand what you said about a crewleader's personal choice and risk when doing this but, in the long run, I also must agree that this will make the button rank cheaper than it already is.
I'm all for your intent in ensuring that the Godfather rank moves up another tier in terms of ease, but I must say, this suggestion has too many loopholes to truly be effective in deterring less-than-worthy Godfathers. I recommend you come up with a different requirement, since this issue itself is worth revisiting. |

I too think the idea is good in terms of being more a team effort by the crew(s). I would like to emphasise the point of a chosen Godfather. In the end, no matter the requirements they are still people who are given the responsibility by their peers.
Anytime someone is given a duty with the responsibility and people skills required to run a crew or be the Godfather of a city, there is that much more room for mistakes and failure. It is in it's self a greater challenge than some want to admit to and how they handle their new role in that position ultimately determines their true ability. That being said, the failure ratio will most likely remain greater than the ones who succeed. Others will try again and again to succeed. |

But there are ways and loop holes with most things around here and its down to the player to decide which way they want to go. The 30 member requirement, anyone could just do what kerrrupt did and transfer members from another crew to his, thats a loop hole to that requirement yet the requirement is still there. I knew when suggesting this requirement that there were ways around it.
You guys are complaining here that this requirement gives crew leaders reason to promote those who don't deserve the promotion. But there are already reasons and crew leaders are already doing it. We all know the more made man or up a crew leader has in their family gives bonuses to the crew leaders. A crew leaders wacking skill and defense is increased with the amount of made man or up in their family and I'm sure their are other benefits to a crew leader and the crew as a whole when they have more made man or up. Do these bonuses cheapen the rank of made man? I don't think so.But you are implying that any benefit that crew leaders can get from made man would cheapen the rank. An example, say a crew leader wants to shoot someone, to increase chances that the shot will be a success the crew leader promotes wise guys that normally they wouldn't then just so the crew leader could get that extra strength to their gun that might make a difference. Yet I don't think I have ever heard anyone doing that before just like I haven't heard anyone transfering members to their crew just so they can get 30 and get Godfather til I saw kerrrupt do it.
If a crew leader can actually convince another crew leader to give them their made man so they can get the Godfather rank then good for them. I actually like the fact there is a loop hole here. I enjoy any new addition to the game that provides choice. Sure a crew leader could promote people to made man then just demote them straight after but that could cause problems. What if people don't want to get demoted losing the time that have been alive? and if a crew leader wants to be Godfather with no made man to provide bonuses to them to make them stronger then that is their choice
Naturally simpily making it that a crew leader has to have 30 members or more for a certain period of time OR that they have to have 10 made man or up for a certain period of time. That gets rid of the loop hole particularly if the duration is long then I extremely doubt that a crew leader would give away their made men for a long time. Also if the crew leader still promotes people who don't deserve the rank keep them at made man for say 20days then demotes them well.... hahaha a crew leader willing to do that to their members won't last long. By all means they can the choice is theirs. There are choices and if a crew leader wants to make the wrong one then thats up to them. |

Either way, this will not make getting Godfather more of a team effort, other than transferring people or promoting those unworthy. |

You seem to think that going via the loop whole is the only way people will go around this. I can compare my idea to the gun boost cause just like you said people can promoted and demoted for the Godfather rank, as well as they can do it for the gun boost or D boost when needed yet I don't know of anyone doing that yet it can be done. Just like transferring members to the crew to get 30 members which I only have ever seen it done once, ironic that someone who goes for the loop whole with the Godfather requirement ends up shooting himself by accident. That tells you something about the people who go for the loop holes.
Talking with other Godfathers that have told me that they use to make more money when they were crew leader then now as Godfathers. So wasn't about money but boosts. And I keep repeating myself which is becoming tiresome. If a crew leader wishes to promote someone they don't trust just for the Godfather rank then so be it. IT'S THEIR CHOICE. You seem to want a requirement that is solid, no loop wholes, and gets rid of choice. People must be able to make a decision, removing ability for someone to make a decision is wrong. That's the beauty about this game is it gives you so many choices that can take you anywhere.
This new requirement would make getting Godfather more of a team effort, whether a crew leader needs to encourage people to rank and help them or for the members to agree to be promoted then demoted later or to agree to be transfered it still removes the fact that getting the rank is no loner reliant on one person but many people. |

The original idea is good Snip. I've already mentioned that the CL's already get benefits when promoting made men... i am just saying this idea needs deeper thinking in my opinion.Simply setting a 10 made men members requirement wont cut it, unless this is required on a long period of time... as of 10 made men for 30 days or such. That would make it harder and more interesting... plus, if a made man last 30 days he sure as hell deserved his new rank! This is just a suggestion however. This idea is good, it just needs a little sharpening. I agree on one thing... the godfather requirements should be revised. I totally agree on team effort for this! |

I never suggested that the only way that people would get the rank was through the loophole, as I said previously I am "just trying to imagine what could happen.".

What you are saying is this requirement cheapens the made man rank. When in fact it doesn't, it makes it more important. It is the crew leaders who chooses to use the loop holes that cheapens the rank and this will look poorly on them. Just like crew leaders are still promoting people who don't deserve the rank. Do we blame the reason for why they do that? No. It's only naturally a crew leader wants more made man in their family to increase the boosts given to them. But the way they go towards getting that boost is what cheapens the rank or not. Same for here.
You may have had different personal experiences but I was referring to current Godfathers who told me this so may have not been true for you but is true for them. There are always different circumstances. A good crew leader who promotes people who deserve their rank and has 50 members and runs a great crew would make more money then a Godfather in most case but then this depends on the business arrangements a Godfather has with crew leaders in their city and with other Godfathers.
Kerrupt didn't have 30 members, he just transferred members into his crew got the rank then sent them back. He used the loop whole. Do you disagree with the 30 member Godfather requirement? I still insist that the 10 made man requirement would increase team work required to get the rank if a crew leader chose to go that way.
What about the suggestion from sneakyrat. Making it that a Crew leader needs 10 made man or up for a certain period of days would get rid of any loop holes and as for cheapening the rank. Only Crew leaders who have been alive for 120 days, has the Godfather points, has 30 members would they be given the choice to cheapen the rank by just promoting anyone or by only promoting people who deserve it. The fact that a crew leader NEEDS made man to be Godfather does not cheapen the rank.
You clearly say that anyone who has the rank of Godfather deserves it then wouldn't any wiseguy who has made points therefor deserve the rank? only difference is Godfather rank is reliant on when the person gets the points and meets the requirements where made man promo is given by the crew leader. But the wiseguy got the points. Just like the Godfather got the points and met the requirements.
Anyway lets stop our bickering. We both obviously have different views here and we should see what other members of the community think of this requirement. If everyone hates it then that's fine. But if majority like it then I can't see why it shouldn't be implemented. Life still will go one whether this suggestion makes it or not. Just thought it would add something different to achieving such a great rank. |

Well... as for me i am all for it if the 30 days limit thing is also implemented. A 10 made men members minimum requirement for 30days minimum time period. If it is implemented that way, i am for it 100%. Great idea Snip!:) What about others, what do they think?:) |
