Ingame Shot Report Option Started by: Doug-Glatt on Jun 07, '17 17:42

Bumping this again to see if there's been any further thought of implementing it. With things like google analytics, even using a new email address doesn't solve the problem. Just as an FYI, for anyone who doesn't realize it, Google Analytics determines locations from a visitor’s IP addresses and where internet service providers assign those ranges. The only way around this is with a VPN, which is not allowed on MR.

IA lists are optional. Shot Reports are not. So much progress has been made in improving the tracking of bloodlines with the hiding of IP addresses and with rules against asking under Made their bloodlines. This is the next step. Get rid of the use of google docs for shot reports and make it an in-game feature.

Report Post Tip

Shot Reports can easily be given through a Back Alley or MobMail, I see no reason to code this in when we can do it manually as users...

Report Post Tip

Except if I tell my crew leader "Hey, I don't feel comfortable using Google Docs, I want to use a back alley or mobmail" you will immediately be put on a watch list. Maybe not with you Telkin, but with others, it's 100% the case.

Report Post Tip

I don't mind using google docs myself. But for a significant amount of time, i simply used a back ally thread where the first post was the info that didn't change (name, IRC nick, Start-ups, etc.) and then a "reply" with kill numbers etc. that changed. And by doing so, I could copy the content of the last update, wack the reply, and put in a new one that i updated.

Now, I do like the idea of a setup similar to taxes, as it would allow players to send in direct via this site, but allows the usual BS. But at the end of the day, g-docs/back ally/whatever else, there are enough options, including in game options, that I feel like this is less then priority.

As a folowup to that, and a though for any CL that reads this, I have a personal dislike of the google forms, because while i get the point, It means i effectively have to do the whole thing twice, once to keep track, and once to send in. A google doc or BA thread linked to the CL means no silliness with double input. (and yes, i recognize that CLs want to keep their own work simpler, but i've never yet come across one that didn't leave me at least a little irritated with how it's laid out.
