| Bring back Unread Mobmail Count for CL's | Started by: TheDonBot on Jul 01, '17 17:59 |

The title says it all, really. I'd like to once again have an Unread Mobmail count on CL's profile. Quite awhile back, on CrewLeader's profiles, it would show an Unread Mobmail count. Then it got switched to where you could see everyone's Unread Mobmail on their profile. Currently, you may only view YOUR unread mobmail count. With the recent Updates (Jailing CL's in an attempt to hold them responsible for their Sponsors, toggling Invites off for those Crews with inadequate RP Intro/Details,) I am lead to believe that overall we're trying to hold CL's to a higher standard. I'm all for this. While it's understandable that some leaders can't be around very much, it is not only baffling - but downright DEADLY for the game as a whole - when they're not around much AND neglect to delegate their responsibilities properly. (Getting an active Right Hand to read their mail, Retiring and letting someone who has time for the community step up, whichever.) Thusly, I think it would be beneficial for the entire community if we could see this once again. Pros: Holds CL's a little more responsible for their obligation to their members, and the community. Cons: The potential for people to "Go Isabella" on their CL's for being too slow to read their mail, or for not reading it when they got online, etc etc. Crazy's will be crazy's will be crazy... |

I'm all for this idea. I missed it when it went away. It allowed me to see when my Cl saw my message, and be more aware of the communication between us. The downside you mention can't really be helped, as if a person is going to go in on a person for something as trivial as how long they take to respond to your message then they will find something else to have a go at people for. Don't let the 'crazies' ruin what was once a great feature to have. But TheDonBot, what is your view on the matter of having it turned on for everybody, or just Cl's? |

I think it's a bit of an overkill to do for everyone in the game, and at that point would almost guarantee people using it for straight up stalking purposes. I could maybe see it going as far as CL + RH, but that'd be the extent of its legitimate usefulness in my opinion. |

I'm all for the standardised usage of the term to "go Isabella". Truly excellent patter. |

| That's a fair point to make and I also think a correct one. So just for the RH and Cl? If you are going to do two member of the Upper Structure, then why not include the LH in that list as well? They still do play an important role. Especially if the CL and Rh are both offline. So wouldn't it be easier to say have it for all Upper Structures across the board? | |

The differentiating factor between a LH and a RH is this; a Right Hand literally IS the CL when the CL isn't around, and his actions speak directly the same as if it were the CL himself speaking. The RH has access to the CL's mail, which is why its important for Inactive CLs to have a highly active Right Hand. While LH's are important, they don't *quite* have the pull of a RH, or CL. Their actions are slightly less connected to the CL (though very very very tightly connected still, to be fair,) and they don't have access to the CL's mail. I'd like to keep LH the way it is at unshown simply for the fact that they *are* less important than the CL and RH, and I like that distinction. |

I agree 100% with what TheDonBot is saying. We see so many CLs right now with obscenely low status; with the movement towards accountability this is just another way to ensure CLs are doing their part to keep the community active and growing. |

No thank you. Please, do not bring it back. If I choose to ignore mail because I'm eating dinner or going pee I do not need to come back to someone freaking out because they are obsessed with my unread mail count and think I hate them. I don't need someone thinking I'm avoiding their mail specifically, especially in a time of war or a rogue. Some mail is more important than others, some mail is just a mass mail you already know the contents of... Unread mail counts really mean nothing in the grand scheme of things. There are days I don't dive into my mail the second I log on. There are days I log on during a break at work and do not have time to answer all of my mail. Does this make me a worse leader? I answer the mail as soon as possible. If it takes a while I'm sorry... But sometimes we leaders have to prioritize. What I do not need is to log on on my 15 min break to check things quick, log off to go back to work, log on a couple hours later for my 30 min break to see someone losing their shit because I didn't answer their mail on my coffee break while trying to stuff something into my face so I'm not hangry and a bitch to my customers. Some people have limited time to be here at times. Not all of us are unemployed or students. Does this mean I should just not log on? No, it does not. I handle the important mails during these fleeting moments at work as do many others. Also, it's no one's business but mine and my right hand's what's in my inbox. Do you walk up to every leader's mailbox/inbox/whatever and peer in when you are in a city? Do you have access to their HQ to see their inbox/mailbox? No. In real life you do not, so why should it be different here. When it comes to role play this makes absolutely NO sense whatsoever. |

As do so many other aspects of this world, Lillith. If you're that worried about people freaking out on you, perhaps choose to work with more sane and stable people? So far overall this has gotten tremendous support, though I do thank you for sharing your opinion. And yes, by the way, mail management is directly tied into ensuring your members are taken care of... so I do think it counts when factoring in the worth of a CL, heh. |

Actually I'm pretty sure the first words I JUST said were "As do many other aspects of this world, Lillith" - meaning when it comes to RolePlay, there are PLENTY of things that don't add up with the game that we accept. |

Never ending cycle of the same GodFather reappearing with his crew, only being able to shoot once an hour, somehow being stealth as hell with an entire fleet of BodyGuards around you, etc etc etc. At least this 'unrealistic' change would have a chance of forcing CLs to get on top of their shit more? I know you don't see it as helping in that way at all, but quite a lot of us do. |

I have no problem with people seeing I'm ignoring their mobmails, either as a player or a CL. Activity level of CLs is not a coding issue - stop trying to make it one. |

It would personally make no difference to my approach if people could see I had no unread mail or 365 I was ignoring. Absolutely ZERO difference. |

I don't feel like I am putting words in your mouth. The suggestion is to bring back a mobmail counter, yet you've managed to mention "community" numerous times, the damage certain people's activity levels are supposedly doing to the community, your belief about a leader's responsibility to that community and then linking it to other changes made to punish crewleaders. All of the above go way beyond the suggestion you've outlining and to me are indicative of your intent. However, if I am mistaken, feel free to ignore the above. |

" Activity level of CLs is not a coding issue " No, it's a human issue of people being extremely fucking lazy and not giving a shit? How is that in any way shape or form saying that it has to do with code...at all |
