Bring back Unread Mobmail Count for CL's Started by: TheDonBot on Jul 01, '17 17:59

I've already explained why I think you're angling towards more than just the suggestion.

I've also said that if I'm mistaken in that view, you can ignore my comments.

Report Post Tip

anyone who has problems with people watching their mail level and freaking out on them needs to grow some balls

Report Post Tip

Right then, moving on. Squishy - other than the to be expected dislike from Lillith, and the "makes no difference" from a few, seems to have decent enough support. Thoughts?

Report Post Tip

We will give it a little more time for people to weigh in.

Report Post Tips: 1 / Total: $20,000 Tip

I don't understand how three people saying yes is tremendous support or am I missing something here?

Sounds like something that doesn't need to come back.

Report Post Tip

In the ratio of "for it" to "not for it" 3:1 (technically 5:1 if you include Disorder's and Larry's "couldn't care less") is pretty tremendous to me, matey.

Do you have any reasons to support why you think it shouldn't come back?

Report Post Tip

Whoa, I take issue with this statement:

" Activity level of CLs is not a coding issue "

No, it's a human issue of people being extremely fucking lazy and not giving a shit? How is that in any way shape or form saying that it has to do with code...at all

Now, we all know shit comes up and sometimes real fucking life comes first for a bit. Even as a leader it happens and may not be a permanent thing, it can be short term too. This does not make them a lazy piece of shit, this makes them HUMAN. Work schedules change, vacations happen, LIFE happens. For those of us with jobs, families, and, well, LIVES this is a hobby, a game, not the focus of our attention and it shouldn't have to be. This is a game for fun, not a fucking career. It's a distraction from reality.

Using this and unread mail against someone is utter bullshit. I cannot count how many unread mass mails that leaders I have been a right hand for have sat in an inbox unread because they didn't have to address it because they knew what it was about already.

YOU yourself know that shit can happen and someone's activity can go down TheDonBot.

Report Post Tip

And when that is the case, the leader should get a more active RH to cover for them, or step down. Simple as that.

Report Post Tip

Apathy isn't agreement... but, sure, I'll bite, I don't believe there's a huge rash of leaders who are ignoring everything their members send them, and I don't believe this will do anything to make leaders respond any quicker to their members than they already are. It feels like an addition for high maintenance players rather than anything that will help with any problem that you believe exists.

Feels extremely unneeded and like it will have hilarious consequences (IE some guy retiring because their leader read their message and then got busy in real life which causes the guy to retire believing he's being ignored), with that said I don't really feel like saying no to it because I don't believe it will solve or break anything.

Looks like its now 6:1!

Jeb, the "1" before was the only person against it, you being the 2nd, just so you know.

Thank you for your input, though I disagree that it will solve nothing.

Report Post Tip

I'd like to see it brought back.

I disliked it at the time because it made precisely zero sense from an RP perspective. How would anyone (with the possible exception of one's inner circle) know what a boss had on their plate or how many unresolved issues they had at any one time? It's patently ridiculous. Remember that iconic opening scene of the Godfather, where everyone comes to ask Don Corleone a favour because it's his daughter's wedding? One of the reasons I love that scene is because it sets up Tom's role very early on. He controls access to the Don etc. It would've been a much shitter scene if everyone took a number like a deli counter and sat and waited their turn.

I can see the logic for making game changes which make no RP sense in such instances where it's genuinely needed to facilitate gameplay; but this isn't required in the slightest and I see no reason for it.

Report Post Tip

Do people really think that high activity levels or a crew leader's unread mob mail count is in ANY way indicative of their ability to lead a crew or contribute to the community?

I would much rather my crew leader was at work, least I know they're capable of getting an actual full time job and aren't completely retarded.

Report Post Tip
Ahw fanks whateva ur name is guy in my crew.

I am wel against this as I may hav 2 do something.

Or, as others have said, it has fuck all to do with anyone what mails I have or have not read. I may leave various mails unread for my RH, mark mails unread I will reply later to or have read them without opening them.

My box is my box. If you sent me a mail and I didnt reply then I either did not want to or had nothing to say. Either way it matters not if you know I read it because it still means I am not replying.

In the ratio of "for it" to "not for it" 3:1 (technically 5:1 if you include Disorder's and Larry's "couldn't care less") is pretty tremendous to me, matey.

You could argue their "couldn't care less" would make it 3:3 in that case, too. :P

Personally.. I couldn't give a monkeys. I read my mail, if it needs an immediate response, I do so. If it doesn't and I don't have time, I hit "Mark Unread" and do it later. Having "Unread Mail: #" on my profile won't make me any more or any less likely to respond - I respond when I can. I'd be surprised if it would cause anyone else to change how/when they reply to mails either, TBH.

PS: I did enjoy stalking peoples Unread Mail #s when I was pinging mails back-and-forth but.. That's not really for necessity, heh.

Report Post Tip

I wish this topic would be resurrected. As a CL, there are times where maybe I'm online doing things(refreshing on someone, for example) and I maybe can't get to a mail. Having my unread mail count back would help communicate to my members that I haven't gotten to their mails just yet.

OR, and maybe this should go under a separate suggestion thread, BUT...why can't turning unread mail count be an on/off toggle type thing available to everyone? Then there should be no debate. If you don't like it, don't use it. #problemsolved
