@om Mourinho's tactics at the weekend were to press high early, to try and force Arsenal players into mistakes where United's pacy attack could punish them. This resulted in a 2-0 lead after 15 minutes, enabling them to sit back on their lead. A swift counter-attacking goal in the second half and going down to 10 men meant United could remain defensive and invite Arsenal to come at them. They had what, four strikers on the pitch and still couldn't score a second. End of game shot count has wouldn't be in a manager's mind when selecting pre-match tactics. And, in the end, there's only one stat that matters. |

I'm not defending my club my man. They did not need defending, they won the game after all. I was defending my original statement, which wondered aloud why Mourinho didn't use similar tactics against other top six sides away from home. Any savvy football fan who actually watches a match and studies how the teams are set up can gauge the tactics of a manager, that's common sense. That's how fans/pundits/opposing managers figure these things out, you don't need to be in the dressing room during a team talk. What's laughable is your pathetic attempt to take something from a game in which you were beaten. Enjoy celebrating your shot count at the end of the season, it might even become the new fourth place. |
