Closing down Casinos Started by: JoeKing on Jul 22, '17 20:30

Can we get it so that if there are player owned casinos in the game automatically the admin casinos are closed down and instead it show you a list of where the casinos are to play? That way there is actually a point in owning them.... Because if they're everywhere admins or not... Then what's the point =/

If anyone has objections please voice your opinions. Thanks.

So you're saying the only way people should be able to play at a Casino is if they're in Vegas, currently? Can't say I agree with that given there's currently only the 1 player owned one, and there hasn't been one before this one since.... ?

Report Post Tip

Because what's the incentive? If there are casinos everywhere then why would anyone come to yours? Basically that's how it is now. Also they are insanely expensive and difficult to keep up. That's why nobody is buying them, that's not my fault.

Report Post Tip

Still can't get behind this, mate. You knew the playing field when you bought the Casino; the job to entice folks of showing up to it falls on you, and shouldn't result in the inability to play at a Casino elsewhere.

Report Post Tip

Sooo with that logic why not just make them fully admin owned again?

Report Post Tip

Seems like a solid suggestion to me.

With that logic, every state in the country should close the thousands of native owned casinos so only Vegas makes money and Atlantic City and Detroit can climb out of bankruptcy?

C'mon. Lol.
Report Post Tip

Huh? o.O That's a completely different topic... Lol

Report Post Tip

LarryLongNeck - which part appeals to you?

Report Post Tip

No it's not, JoeKing. You're suggesting every single non-mob operated Casino in the country gets shut down simply because there's now (for the first time in months and months) ONE mob operated one?

Report Post Tip

If my competition was other REAL PLAYERS it would be fine, thats the whole point. But when the competition is "The gods" then why would anyone own one in the first place? Thats basically what I am trying to say. I get it, when there is NOBODY owning one, sure bring the artificial ones.

But here I am, risking A LOT  of money to start one and keep it running. Why are the "God owned" casinos necessary when there is a real one? If anything, a city having a casino shows how the city itself it progressing.

Report Post Tip

Knowing that people would choose these other ones, and how easy it is to lose one, and the risk involved...you still chose to buy one. I don't think it's fair for the Admins/House to have to cripple itself by closing the other ones and forcing people to go into a city and gamble where they may not feel comfortable. Interested to see if anyone else has any opinions on it.

Report Post Tip

As a general rule, I'm a fan of as little NPC participation as possible, so anything that encourages player owned rather than admin owned appeals to me because it can lead to interaction and dynamic events. I also think that as this is a $20m feature and is one of the most expensive acquisitions in the game. It should therefore be something good as you have worked hard to get the stage where you can afford to own and operate one.

It shouldn't be something that sits on the shelf, little used, because people can use the NPC equivalent for no real reason other than "they are there". You said it yourself, for the first time in months and months, someone actually owns one. Shouldn't we do what we can to support that, especially when it was such a big part of the real mafia?

Report Post Tips: 1 / Total: $50,000 Tip

It's 120M... So literally have to RISK more than 200 credits worth to maybe or maybe not go bankrupt.

The casino itself is 100M, and it starts with 20M  in it.

If I die, there goes bye bye the casino lol.

Report Post Tip

Sorry, Joe. I missed the 1 out.

Report Post Tip

How is it different? In that scenario, you are vegas/AC/DT, and 'the gods' are all the native owned casinos...except here it's 1 casino per city, not thousands compared to a few dozen.

When I'm in Vegas, I play at your casino, if I'm not in Vegas, I don't casino at all (except dice). Like William said, your job is to entice others to play in Vegas more than the others...I understand the risks involved of buying a casino, thus I contribute to your cause. I'm sure I am in the minority with that sentiment, but it's like any other business...Give them a reason to shop at your store instead of the others offering the same products.

Report Post Tip
I would be open. To something along the lines of that if a city hasn't had a casino for a month, someone from another city can own one.

But otherwise limiting casinos to only being played by 1/6th the population at anytime is not really an ideal situation.
Report Post Tip

I hear your case Joe. Ive known some previous owners, and its almost impossible to justify the investment required to buy and operate a casino. I remember when they use to be in the 25mill range back in the day. That was more a suitable number for how the casino competition looks currently. Maybe higher. But 120 is a bit much.

Now I will say this from the get go. I don't agree with shutting down casinos in other cities. If a player wants to play a game now, they should have the ability to do so.

However, I think the real question here maybe. How do we make human casinos appealing to the player base? Or atleast make the investment to own and run one, a proper business proposition. These days, if you own a casino; its more a statement of power and wealth, rather than a investment that nets a decent return.

Report Post Tip
As a compromise could you lower the betting limit in none player owned casinos?

Gives the incentive to use player owned if you want to win big but keeps the game owned casinos in there
Report Post Tip

At that kind of pricing for ownership, my guess is that the admins might have thought a casino might be bought as a family asset rather than a single player owning one?  Maybe bought with family tax money with a cut of the income going to the head of the family and the rest going into the HQ and other family expenses?  I'm still real new to the game so I don't know if that's something that would work, but at that price, I would hope so!

Just curious, what sort of things can you do to promote people visiting your casino in this game?
