This story is the rumored background of the mobster named RoRoG. He is a man who was shrouded in mystery to his fellow crew, from his unconventional name to his appearance. The story of his introduction into this world of ours begins three years ago with a meeting between RoRoG and his father. RoRoG was still a young man back then, oblivious to the larger world that existed. His father was famous in the underworld but he had managed to shield RoRoG from that until an incident forced him to make a decision he forever regretted. RoRoG had a promising future in the academic world until one day when his life was forever changed...
RoRoG slowly walked into a warehouse where his father worked as a manager or so he thought at the time.
Hello? Are you here?
Suddenly his father appeared behind him with a gun. RoRoG nearly greased his drawers.
Holy shit! I thought I was going to die there for a minute. What the hell is wrong with you dad?
His father was an imposing figure and for him to have a gun drawn made him even more impressive. He withdrew his pistol and patted his son on the head and replied
You need to be calmer than that. Guns shouldn't scare you.
RoRoG had only seen a gun twice at the time and neither time were they pointed at him with the intent to kill. He was confused, scared, and worried.
I'm not that cold-blooded. That message you sent me earlier said to meet you here and now you're pulling a gun on me? What the hell? I guess you didn't call me here to eat lunch.
His father laughed for a second at this attempt to break his own tension but he realized it was covering up an inadequacy that his son had. Since he attempted to lead his son away from the underworld his son was soft and unprepared for the world ahead of him. RoRoG's father motioned towards his office on the top floor of the warehouse.
Maybe we should go into my office. It's a bit safer up there.
As the pair walked towards the office there were millions of questions floating through RoRoG's mind. What the hell is going on? What is with the gun? Am I in danger here? Maybe my father has lost his mind? With an intense fear gripping his mind he couldn't focus on anything except the image of his father pointing a gun at him. He honestly felt like he was about to die. With all these complex thoughts going through his mind he had unconsciously arrived at the office without even realizing it when his father began to speak.
Son, sit down. We need to talk about what just happened.
RoRoG's father paused for a second as RoRoG sat down. His father's face showed a clear distress unlike anything RoRoG had ever seen before so he was content to just sit and let him speak until he could register these events fully.
Theres no easy way to explain this so I'm going to try to just say it. This warehouse is a front company for a mob family business. I'm sure you realize this means that I'm a member of the mob. Your mother who passed away died because of my involvement with the mob. A rival of mine tried to use her as leverage against us and she was killed when "the big guy" refused to negotiate with him.
This was a complete shock to RoRoG. His whole life he believed his father to be a warehouse manager for a taxi company like his grandfather before him and he thought his mother died from an illness. He was only two years old when she died but he wholeheartedly trusted his father so he felt there was no reason to doubt the story. RoRoG had so many emotions built up that he just began to say things without considering what he was saying
… I don't even know my own father. You're telling me someone killed mom because they were after you? So it was YOUR FAULT! Fuck me… How can I trust you ever again? Tell me why the hell you told me this now.
RoRoG's father had a stern expression and even now he felt pain but his face didn't show it. He was truly a hardened member of this thing of ours. He was man of admirable position even if his past was scarred with regret. He replied with a calm voice to RoRoG's outburst.
Son, you need to know this because I am going to die soon. I made a grave mistake and I'm going to pay for it with my life. You may not understand this but I swore on my life that I would serve my family honorably and I broke that oath. I can't tell you what I did for your own safety however it was terrible enough that I can't avoid retribution.
Another amazing revelation. RoRoG was so angry that it almost didn't register that his father just told him he was going to die. However, he did realize what was just said after a second and asked the first question that entered his mind.
So what should I do?
RoRoG's father walked over to his son and looked him square in the eyes. Not many times did he do this so when he did it was always meaningful.
Its up to you how you live your life but if my enemies come back after my death they're going to be aimed directly at you. It may very well be your destiny that you follow in my footsteps as a mobster. I suggest you steel yourself now because you may not have a choice.
RoRoG was about to respond when shot rang out from behind the office door. The shadow of a single man could be seen on the other side of the door. RoRoG was lucky to survive the first volley of shots however his father was struck in the chest with three bullets. His father started to cough up blood but he still muttered a few words.
See… Falcon… Tell him…Ghost…Son…
With the last of his energy he put a piece of paper in RoRoG's hand. RoRoG quickly put it in his pocket without reading it and he jumped to his feet. There was a window in the back of the office that overlooked a river so he had no choice but to jump through it before the hitman entered the room. Right as he approached the window he heard the office door open behind him. He had no time but luckily the window was already opened. At that moment, with adrenaline dictating his actions, he jumped out the window.
Luckily for RoRoG, the hitman decided that he was not worth the effort of following since RoRoG did not see his face. Eventually, RoRoG drifted down the river with his emotions in a knot. He didn't even have the energy to swim with his body being so torn from the death of his father and the emotions running through him. After drifting down the river for 20 minutes, he drug himself onto the river bank. He decided to pull the soggy piece of paper out of his pocket and read it.
To my son, Roger Roman Gaccetta
Without a doubt, I will have died before you read this. Please ignore your emotions towards me for a minute as surely you have hatred in your heart right now for my decision to keep you in the dark. I did it for your own good. However, there is one thing that I refuse to put to words but have no choice but to tell you. My eternal rivals, the Fabriccini family, have found out my secret. That I am the man known as "The Ghost". I have done countless things under that name that would bring deep pain to you as I'm sure you can imagine at this point. While I regret this following sentence as a father, I feel obligated to write it as a man of honor. Replace me in Don Falcon's organization and get your revenge against the Fabriccinis. It may be the only way to live as free as you dreamed for all these years. May you live long and without regret.
Your father,
"The Ghost"
This request was too much for a civilian with no experience. His whole life he was a simple man with a pet name that turned into his well-known nickname "RoRoG". What events were going to unfold next in his life? The world was bigger than him… His enemies were bigger than him… He could have run away. Why didn't he? What path would he have to follow in order to live free?
