I think they should be your best friend because they should know you more than anyone else in the world, on many levels of a relationship.

Was my ex my best friend? Nope.  Might be one reason he is my ex ^_^

In one relationship it was actually a nice feeling to have my significant other and I have this thing that we did, when we needed to talk to our "best friend" without any hard feelings towards the other etc we'd start out with saying exactly that..."I need to talk to my best friend right now".  Even if it was about the other person we could speak freely.  Because what do you do when your S.O. is being a pain, you go run to your best friend to vent, complain and get comfort.  

My best friend now is one I am happy to have met and know without a doubt I can talk to about anything and everything, and I hope I am blessed enough to find that level of comfort in a future relationship.

I couldn't imagine a good marriage not resulting in them being one of your best friends. My wife Hotice is my best friend.

She's not my wife, but she may as well be. We are definitely best friends. We rarely do anything without each other.

My spouse is my best and only real friend outside of the game. She is the one that got me into this we spend all our time on here or alone when we can. there is no one i would want to spend my time with more than her.
