Bottom of the 9th Started by: TheDean on Aug 05, '10 18:16

Not too long ago, I had been frequenting a particular coffee shop overhearing comments about the time frame in between wars of epic proportions. A joke had been made about the way the last few wars were conducted. It seemed as if both sides took their time in adjusting their jock straps and continued the following innings in a play-by-play fashion over the course of the next few weeks.

Okay, I know what you're thinking. This guy can't be serious? But in all fairness, I had my reasons as to why this had to be done. I cannot speak on behalf of the others, but I am sure they had reasons of their own.

There were a few occasions that struck me personally when working with Gwarble. I can't blame Philly entirely for the events that have occurred but action has been taken against them because of the guilty few. Somewhere in the middle things got a bit fuzzy but became a little clearer towards the end. Caesars outburst in the streets openly threatening one of my associates was uncalled for. I thought it had been put to rest after making my presence felt but unfortunately it was not. Gwarbsy and his incessant need to have the last say.

Actually Squire, you aren't "allowed" when it comes to openly insulting people of my city. TheDean has said you will be reprimanded and I'll think no more of the matter.

Action was taken. Squire was removed from my headquarters and placed with another family in New York. What action had been taken on his part to reprimand Caesar? After all, he had blatantly threatened one of mine by offering him a bullet to the head.

As time progressed, I continued to go out of my way in keeping the peace with Gwarble. Any mistakes made in the New York camp had been dealt with swiftly. A contract kill had been stolen from a Philadelphia member by one of my men. The contract fee was paid twice over and an apology forwarded to Godfather Gwarble for the inconvenience.

I then had the misfortune in having two of my bodyguards killed whilst protecting me as I slept, by one of Phillys member. I wasn't surprised at all with that feeble attempt. Though I was surprised at Philadelphia's response to those events. Nothing. There was no response. I chose to let it go in good faith that we were aiming for a better business environment without these hiccups getting in the way of progression.

After the news of New York initiative with regards to expanding my business ventures in New Orleans, an ex member of New York who had been housed during the previous wars, had been asked to step up as a hand to Magua. Pipoca had the audacity in asking for $1,000,000 in cash for the release of GG_Allin. I had only asked a favor from one business partner to the next as I thought I was doing them a favor by not asking for a $12,000,000 in compensation for the loss of my bodyguards. It really is difficult these days finding good help and I was rather upset in losing these two men. I was then bluntly told that this is an entirely different business deal and should be honored accordingly. Being the good business partner that I am, I was sure to send her the money immediately and decided to take it up with Gwarble at a later date. So I pretty much explained my point of view and made sure to let him know that I had no issues with Pipoca. His response was "Glad to hear it".

Now let me clarify how business deals work. Those in power have the power to make those deals. Pipoca thought that because she, in her earner mentality and being the right hand woman to a Philly underboss, had the power to extort me of $1,000,000. I made the deal. Not you. I was offering you a way out and you chose to be bigger than what you really were.

So lets tally up the score shall we? That's three strikes and I'm afraid you're out.

Alas. All's well ends well. But there is nothing to worry about ol' Gwarbley-Pooh, wherever you may be now. I have taken great measures in making sure our efforts continue even through your death. We saw eye to eye on the way things should be. I won't deny that. But your bark was actually far bigger than your bite at this stage in your life and the noise was a little too much for my sensitive ears to handle.

As for the Hickey situation, well I have heard a few stories. Hickey told me that the shot on a Squire had been authed by Gwarble, Gwarble on the other hand said otherwise. Whether it was authed or not, someone did set foot in a city under my control and took a shot at my auth without my consent.

Godfather Gwarble was a great leader and no one can take that away from him. His bloodline has proven true and true again. Stepping up from city underboss to a city head, with all his time and efforts not only invested in his family, but for the future of organized crime across the country. A man, that stood for his family and city regardless of their rank. I guess he only fell short in thinking I wouldn't do the same for mine.

But my point was made and all shootings ceased for some time whilst the remaining Godfathers discussed a possible solution to end the violence. After all, we all shared a common goal. Colin. We know that there will always be casualties in war, but this mans survival put the fire in the few to make a stand that I can honestly say, put the biggest grin on my face. With all that being said and done, we and by we I mean a handful of us, have decided on what will happen over the next few weeks. I guess the rest of you will just have to sit tight and enjoy the ride.

I like how you made no mention of LA's involvement, and played it off like you singly-handedly took the war. Good one. Godfather DonPardo's death doesn't even deserve a mention? Typical.

I believe Godfather TheDean said he was giving his reasons for the war and not speaking on behalf of the others.

Well, without the help of GF DonPardo and his city, TheDean would still be stifling his tantrums while Gwarble's guys continue to pick off his bodyguards, I think they deserved at the very least a mention.

Cherokee listens to TheDean's explanation and nods. Putting out his cigarette he walks up to KarmaKarmaChameleon and hands him his baseball bat

Here kid hang on to that, keep disrespecting Godfathers and you'll be meeting one real soon. If you hadn't noticed he clearly stated that these were his reasons for going to war. The other Leaders may come out and state theirs, but this is his explanation.

Gwarble was a great man, there is no arguing that at all. He did more for the streets than just about anyone I've ever met, but he also made mistakes. After hearing TheDean's account of what happened it is hard to argue that the decision to take Gwarble out of the equation was not justified. Everyone fought hard and many lives were lost, but we can take solace in the fact that another great man, Colin, will take that next step and become the great leader that he has the potential to be. I look forward to hearing of what may come in the next few weeks.

Cherokee lights a cigarette and takes his bat back from KarmaKarmaChameleon, patting him on the head.

Baseball bat? Has the economy gone down that much this past month? I would've expected the threat of a nice silver bullet at the very least.

What is this world coming to?

Joey_Cesari walks up smoking a Cuban cigar and listens to what all is being said by Godfather TheDean and the others that have gathered around. He stands and listens carefully to every word that is being said. After everyone is done talking he takes one last drag off his cigar before throwing it to the ground and then steps up in front of the crowd to address them.

Hello everyone, I can't really add anything to the reasons for the war, as I think TheDean has clearly covered New York’s reasons and as he said he is only speaking for New York not anyone else. As for my point of view on the situation, I really didn’t know Godfather Gwarble but heard many good things about him. Working here in New York with Godfather Dean, I have been able to make many observations. I witnessed the mentioned disrespect from the Philly and New York members and that no action was taken by Philly to stop it. I also witnessed when Squire was gunned down by Hickey and once again no action or really even a good response was given. So in my eyes the action that New York took needed to be taken. Now don’t get me wrong I did not want to see all of the good and loyal members from any of the cities die, but I do believe that they died for a noble and justified reason.

As for what is in store for us in the near future, as TheDean said we will all just have to wait and see what unfolds. I do hope that we can all put aside our petty differences for the time being and get back on track of rebuilding This Thing of Ours to its former glory.

Joey then steps back and wanders back into the crowd to find a place to sit down. He finds a nice shady tree and decides to sit down and rest his feet for a while and listen to what else has to be said. He then pulls another cigar from his pocket and lights it up.

"Glad to hear it."

Exactly something Gwarble would've said. Shazam smiled sadly as his dad has always told him Gwarble kept his messages so short and unreliable Know that I look upon the facts Godfather TheDean has said, I cannot agree more with what has happened. I don't see where he made mistakes anywhere, except become the Messiah himself and forgive. I also talked to Godfather TheDean a couple times also. He kept his talk long and friendly. Openly inviting. Arr. Have to stop kissing up

Anyway thank you for taking the time and explaining every detail about what caused war with PH today Godfather, I wish you a great afternoon and also a great future.

Shazam walked off, still reflecting on the war that just finished. Pherhaps mentioning his old Godfather DonPardo , would've been nice. Anyway, he had other business to take care of. Helping Don Diablos with some new members around the HQ

Insanity nods with understanding.....ironic, i know. But it happened.

Well most would say that you were a very forgiving man for letting it even get to three strikes. But you were pushed a bit too far with all of these strikes and you took action that was needed. Nobody can say that you shouldn't have done what you did. You might have taken out a man that many respected but business relations must have been stressed after these incidents and business can't be good with stress between the two of you. So congratulations on your victory and I wish you hope on your future business ventures.

Im pretty sure he was keeping with the idea of the speech referring to the references of baseball, but i guess when you are a simple fuck its hard to get.

I don't know about you, Reesie, but I kinda feel sorry for the man. We in the mafia overwhelmingly prefer guns due to their flexibility, quickness, and overall ease (well, if you shoot in the right areas that is). Why bend yourself up with a baseball bat if you can just pull the trigger? Seems even more comical for a RH to be using such an obsolete method.  Just my opinion, I suppose.

KarmaKarmaChameleon takes out a handkerchief and wipes the drool off all these men.

Seeing all this sycophantism is really making me hungry.

KarmaKarmaChameleon takes out a hamburger and watches as the groupies continue to pool in.

Report Post Tip

You want a mention for DonPardo? Well I doubt you'll get one. I mean at least he died during the war. Not after when a peace treaty had been worked out. Then being shot because a Godfather doesn't like you and then provides absolutely no viable reason. Then when he attempts to his constantly proven completely wrong.

Oh, the days when people at least had a decent argument.

Because sometimes it sends a better messasge when your beaten body is found in an alley, with most bones broken by a blunt insrutment rather then just being shot.

That's the problem with kids today, they want to commit crime more then they want to be gangsters. No respect with this group of young thugs. There is gangsters and there is thugs. You are just a punk thug.

Also for your commit of guns (which i will assume you know nothing of) Flexibility? I bet i can walk down the street with a bat out easier then i could with a gun out. Overall ease? Loud bang, having to aim, having to ditch the gun soon after, having to make sure its cleaned, make sure its loaded, practcing with it, making sure i remember to take the safety off. Bat swing, home run.

Shame we live in the 20s. I hope in the future some man will create a program (OOC: Microsoft Word?) that will help you work your sentences out coherently. You're only a few pronouns and verbs away from making sense!

Seeing another opportunity to promote one of his products, Billy hopped into the conversation, a large wooden bat in hand.

Gasping for a breath, he continued.

"BUT WAIT! THAT'S NOT ALL! IF YOU CALL IN THE NEXT TEN MINUTES, YOU'LL RECEIVE ONE OF YOUR LOUISVILLE SLUGGER BATS SIGNED BY NONE OTHER THAN THE INFAMOUS AXEMAN OF NEW ORLEANS, ALONG WITH HIS SIGNATURE WEAPON - FREE!"

Turning to Cherokee, he hands him one of his Louisville Slugger bats.

"AND BECAUSE YOU'RE ALREADY A FAN OF THE GAME, I'M WILLING TO GIVE YOU ONE ON THE HOUSE."

Turning back to the audience, he continued.

"YOU HAVE NOTHING TO LOSE EXCEPT A BODY AND SEVERAL BROKEN TEETH - CALL NOW!"

Well welcome to a life of crime, not all of us finished school or even went to school, some of us never had the chance when our families first got off the boat we had to do what we had to do.

I have more respect for the young man asylum because atleast i know he is being himself, and what he has had to do to even make ends meat. You are the other hand, family line probably came from a rich line, probably not even from italy. Just another preppy college boy who likes to come down to the crime ridden streets to make himself feel better.

I hope in the future some man will create a program that teaches you some respect (OOC: you dying over and over till you close your cock holster)

Jonnie, I like your argument and would love to continue this conversation (excuse me if I go and grab another hamburger sometime later though).

On the contrary, I actually believe walking down the street with a baseball bat is FAR more obvious than with a gun. I don't think this can be argued lol. Are you saying that you would have the gun in hand? Of course not, therefore a concealed weapon is completely unnoticable. Last time I checked, baseball bats don't fit too well inside pockets.

As for the effectiveness of the killing method, I do agree with you - a beaten body does send a stronger message than a gun. Guns can be mundane after a while.

"Loud bang, having to aim, having to ditch the gun soon after, having to make sure its cleaned, make sure its loaded, practcing with it, making sure i remember to take the safety off"

With your bloodline, I would assume none of those would be even a problem, but let's take a look. Do you not also have to ditch a baseball bat, make sure it's cleaned, as well as practice? We don't all start off swinging like Sammy Sosa.

Looking forward to your answer.

So if im walking down the street with a bat and someone see's me they think oh he is going to go kill someone, or hey he is going to go play some ball? If i get stopped by the police for being a known associate of criminal acts, and they find my gun, ill go to lock up for atleast a week, vs's they take my bat and cant charge me for anything.

I don't know about you but where im from we are grown big, so practice of swinging a bat as hard as i can? Doubt i need it

Who is sammy sosa? Is he a local neighborhood ball player? Never heard of him???????

Report Post Tip

Let's compare the two side by side, if you will:

Gun: Walk up to the guy in the alley, shoot him twice in the head, ditch the gun and off you go.

Bat: Walk up to the guy in the alley, wack him with a baseball bat repeatedly (it usually takes more than one hit to be lethal) while he screams in pain and shouts for help. Chances of having the bat wrestled off of you... possible, but I'll take your word for being "grown big," so no problem there. Ditch the bat (which is awfully hard to spontaneously ditch by the way) and off you go.

Which seems harder?

There's a reason why everyone uses guns and not... erm, bats. I think popular opinion weighs the argument in my favor.

I'm also glad you've stopped resorting to insults as your way of arguing. It makes your argument much more sound.

Gun: Walk up to the guy in the alley, fuck in my endless hours of selling drugs and commiting crime i forgot to clean it, blew up in my fucking hand, Other guy shoots me.

Gun: ok double tape in the head good to go, dump it off in the dumpster, fuck it jammed the machine up fingerprints on the gun im caught now, ass fuck.

Gun: I dont practice and cant shoot for shit, the other guy dumped his mag in me im dead.

Baseball bat: Hit him in the head he stumbles hit him one more time, set the bat on fire, no more evidence.

Who is everyone? I know when i first started in this life of crime i only had a knife with me for a while.

And i never did insult you, i just stated the obvious, and what everyone else was thinking.
