Writing Prompt #1 - Ends May 31st, 23:59 Started by: Squishy on May 26, '18 17:48

Joli starts to come to, blinking a few times to readjust her vision. Shaking her head back and forth due to the massive headache she was feeling, as she's taking in her surroundings as best she can with just a dim light hanging above her head; she sticks out her tongue to taste the fresh blood running down the side of her cheek. Looking around she could see they were in a small room, concrete flooring with no windows just a simple door. Whipping her head back she bangs onto something that instantly starts making gargling, grunting noises at the impact of her hitting.

"Jason is that you baby!? Fuck, were tied together. I think that drug deal last night was a fucking set up." Joli leans forward as far as she can, her and her husband are both in chairs facing back to back of each other with their hands bound together behind their backs. "Jason! I need you to come to baby, we gotta get the hell out of here fast, we're not dead which means we're either hostages to be used against Don Marie or we'll be used as a statement, either scenario isn't physically best for us. BABE!?" Joli starts shoving the chair back and forth nudging Jason repeatedly to wake him up from being knocked unconscious by whoever. He starts coughing uncontrollably as she can hear him spitting up blood, from the corner of her eye she sees he's slumped over as much as he physically can be but steadily moving to come to.

"I'm here Joli, fuck my head, you were right about your intuition. If we get out of this remind me to listen to you more." Jason moans in pain as he continues to spit out blood, obviously he'd been beaten far worse than his wife. "Are you okay Bebe, did they fucking touch you, I sware to god I will kill every last one of them."

"You mean WHEN we get out of this. No, no one has touched me, just whatever the hell they used to knock me out, which it feels like the bleeding has stopped. Now get your damn bearings and help me get out of this." Joli reassured him knowing what he meant when he started questioning her, he was still a man who was protective of what was his even when in the worst situations.

Joli and Jason got to work, wiggling their hands back and forth; who ever had captured them had only used mere ropes to bound them which just brought up more questions but Joli didn't bring it up. She needed Jason to focus on loosening the ropes so they could free themselves. After a good 20 minutes of tugging, pulling, and yanking, Joli was able to pull one arm free and then used it to pull the ropes loose of her other arm. She rubbed her arms flinching at the pain from the ropes digging in her skin scraping the flesh leaving small cuts all over her wrists, blood running down slowly. She quickly got up and kicked the chair away and squat down to help Jason get the ropes free of his wrists. He jumped up and took Joli in his arms, kissing her passionately and then looked her over with worry, caressing her cheek covered in dry blood as he looked at the giant gash in her skull. He then looked at the rest of her, she wasn't too beat up, just a ripped blouse exposing more flesh than he liked, he responded my unbuttoning his shirt and putting it on her so she was covered.

"I'll fucking kill them when I get my hands on them." Jason spoke in a low growl, nearly a whisper in her ear. He grabbed her hand and they ran straight for the door. Upon opening it, they realized they were on a property out in the middle of nowhere surrounded by trees and fencing, in the distance Jason could see a car. "There, come on babe. We need to get out of here and then we will come back for our revenge. They'll pay for this" Jason said never letting her hand go as she pulled her with him. Running non stop only quick glances to ensure no one had realized they escaped. They reached the fence, Jason helping Joli over it and quickly jumping over himself right after. He gets in the driver side and Joli hops in the passenger, Jason quickly scrambles through the vehicle opening up the compartments looking for a key, Joli lets out a small sigh and flips the visor opened causing a key to fall into Jason's lap. He looks at her and smiles no concern what so ever, leaning over and kissing her fiercely before grabbing the keys and starting the vehicle.

They start driving down the road when they come to a clearing that is blocked. Multiple vehicles lined together with at least 12 men standing outside of them guns drawn towards them in the car, Jason breaks knowing there's nothing he can do. He looks over at Joli with sorry eyes not wanting to tell her this is their end. The men storm the vehicle pulling them both out, pushing Jason to his knees on the ground and shoving Joli forward towards another man standing calmly dressed in black with a hat bent down so you cannot fully see his face.

Joli knew who he was instantly, she knew this day was coming but she somehow still thought she had time, time to figure out a different way. It was a godfather of another city, one who Joli had ran into several times during her business trips. He had grown fond of her, possessive. Her company is what he desired and Jason was in his way. He had told her one day she'd be his. He gave her several chances to end things but if she didn't it would be his way and he promised her she'd feel physical and mental pain. Looking down at the ground she knew what was coming. The godfather calmly walked up to her and whispered in her ear. "I gave you chances and you tried to play me." He then grabbed her by the hair and walked her over to Jason and put a gun in her hand. Instantly Joli started crying, pleading, and begging; she tried to turn around to face the man to promise him anything to spare Jason's life. The man returned her actions with a slap to the face and then pulled his own gun out and put it to the back of her skull. "You will listen to me." the godfather whispered in her ear pushing her forward with the gun to her head.

"I love you Joli." Jason said and starred at her, refusing to break eye contact from his wife. He knew she had met a man of stature during the business trip runs she frequently made, but he didn't understand the dangerous game his other half had found herself in.

"I love you too, I'm so sorry." Joli raised the gun and put a bullet in Jason's head. she immediately dropped the gun and broke down to her knees crying over his dead body not believing what had just happened.

The godfather responded by grabbing her,  yanking her up to her feet and putting her in the back of his car with him. They drove off back to his city leaving Jason's body for the wildlife.

After jumping the fence, you are relieved to see the get-away vehicle is only a short sprint away.  As you reach the car, you crane your head around to see if anyone is in pursuit.  So far so good. Slamming the door closed, you stab the key into the ignition and give one last courtesy glance in the rear view to check your six.  You now see a man come to a stop after clearing the fence.  You flick the key forward but as soon as you do you feel a wet, sticky hand on your shoulder. Startled, you turn around to find a bloody and beaten Zoom in the backseat. In a panic you try to figure out who, or what, could have done this to your boss. You see him try to mouth the words "They aren't human" as a bullet passes through both the rear and front windshield. "Fuck! What the hell is going on here!?" You scream frantically trying to dial the Doc as you speed back to the HQ. With only about a quarter of a mile to go your jaw drops as a massive green light completely surrounds your car. "They're back!", You hear Zoom scream as you feel the entire car being lifted off the ground. Before you realize whats happening you wake up to the boss screaming in your face, "GET UP! WE HAVE TO MOVE!" They would be back soon enough...

TheRiddler - Container Crew - Renegades

Report Post Tip

Her heart was beating fast, this was the part she enjoyed the most. Excitement and anticipation of what's about to come. Will she make it out alive? Time would tell.

She'd only brought a small crew with her, believing that the element of surprise would outweigh the benefit of increased numbers. There were more guards than she expected though, recon had told her there would be 4 in the foyer, 3 in the perimeter and 2 within the vault itself. Chances were that not everyone was going to make it - Shae told herself that such a risk was simply part of this thing of ours, everyone was expendable provided the family got what it needed.

She checked her watch, it was almost time, 1 minute to go until shift change, she gave a nod to the others to confirm she was ready. A few moments later they had made their way in, FireMarshallBill and Sheldon had carried out their parts and neutralised the new guards on the perimeter, Mistake was patiently making his way through the vents towards the vault awaiting the signal to drop in. It was now down to her to somehow manage to distract the 4 in the foyer whilst Bill and Sheldon made their way in.

She took a deep breath and removed herself from hiding, the first guard to see her seemed to have a look of shock, confusion and arousal all at the same time. She dressed to impress in the hopes it would help with her part of the plan and so far, so good. None of the other guards in the foyer seemed to have noticed her approaching and the first still seemed a little too distracted to alert anyone, using it to her advantage she gave the guard a little wink and urged him to follow her, retreating back to the room she'd been hiding in. She quickly incapacitated the guard and returned to the foyer - to her surprise only one guard was still there, he wasn't as quick to admire her as the last one was, instead immediately reaching for his weapon, she managed to knock him out before he could get a shot off, but the sound of his body falling was sure to alert the other guards who'd gone missing... She waited patiently for them to return, her heart racing expecting a battle, but no-one came.

There was little time to hang around to consider where they were, so she moved forward with the plan and gave the signal for Mistake to carry out his part, she could hear the sounds of a struggle coming from the vault and knew that either the door would soon open, or the alarm would soon ring out.. It only took a few minutes for her to get the answer she had hoped for as the door swung open slowly to reveal a very pleased with himself Mistake standing over two bodies whilst posing like some sort of body builder. They filled the bags Mistake had brought with him and made their way to the exit they had planned from the 2nd floor, Sheldon and Bill were awaiting their arrival outside and would help carry the loot from there. As they entered the stair way they could hear the missing guards, it seemed the window they'd use to enter the building had been discovered, meaning their exit was now fucked too. The voices drew nearer, alerting them the guards were coming back. The voices they heard sounded panicked, the guards had obviously attempted to alert their colleagues and received no response - realising now that they were the only guards available. Shae and Mistake ran back down the stairs, they had no option but to make a run for the front door, this would set off the alarm and alert the local cops, but chances were the guards had either already called the cops or were just about it.

As they exited the door, they could hear the sounds of sirens in the distance, the cops were already on their way. Sheldon and Bill had obviously heard it too as the getaway car had moved, it was no longer stationed across the street, in case of such a situation they had agreed it would be moved down the street into the local area, where it would arouse less suspicion. Shae and Mistake began to make their way there when they heard the guards call after them, without much warning they began to open fire on them, carrying two full bags each made it hard for them to get up much speed but the distance between them and the guards was good enough that a clean shot wouldn't be easy, they could see the car up ahead but there was sign of Sheldon or Bill.

After jumping the fence, Shae and Mistake were relieved to see the get-away vehicle was only a short sprint away.  As they reached the car, Mistake turned his head around to see if the guards were near.  So far so good. Slamming the door closed, Shae pushed the key into the ignition and give one last courtesy glance in the rear view to check for Bill and Sheldon.  She now see a man come to a stop after clearing the fence.  She flicked the key and got ready to speed off when she saw a second man jumping the fence, it was Bill and Sheldon. The pair had waited behind to take care of the guards that were chasing them, they must have doubled back after moving the car, Shae reversed to cut the gap and the moment the boys were in the car, she sped off in the opposite direction of the sirens.

Report Post Tips: 1 / Total: $50,000 Tip

Star jumped the fence after a short struggle to untangle the cuff of her pants from a splinter that had torn at the seam. "Shit!" She muttered frantically, yanking at the fabric as she heard the expensive material rip, hoping it was simply the stitches and not the pants themselves. Served her right for wearing duds like this to do such a grunt job, she should have gone with the more practical denim overalls but NO, she had to make herself look polished. She made the short sprint to her Packard and stopped, craning her head around to see if she'd been followed. So far, nobody seemed to be tailing her although a muffled yell signaled to her that it was time to get her ass out of dodge.

The car door slammed as she yanked it closed, fumbling for the key on her brass fob as she jabbed it into the ignition and cranked, hearing the car roar to life. As she put the car into gear, she looked in the rearview mirror and cursed again under her breath. Big Johnny had just landed on the ground next to the fence and didn't even give himself time to dust off before striding purposefully towards her idling car. Without hesitation, Star put the car into reverse and gunned it, aiming straight for Johnny with determination. He had enough time to leap out of the way but the fender still clipped him and she could hear him grunt loudly as he hit the ground. As she screeched to a halt, Star watched in horror as Johnny stood up, wiping his nose with the back of his hand before charging her car again.

Once again she put the car in gear and slammed her foot down on the pedal. The tires screamed as she lurched forward, her bumper making contact with Johnny's knees as he slammed across the hood of her car and his head shattered her windshield. He'd hit with enough force to land inside the car and Star swerved slightly as the half-conscious man groaned, pouring blood all over the hunter green upholstery of the seats. Star didn't have much time to think as she continued to rocket down the abandoned alleyway, heading straight for the busy thoroughfare. Johnny was coming to and she needed a plan fast. Her normal methods of taking out her competition were much more surreptitious and often involved poison but right here and now that wouldn't be effective. She had a gun, one she'd never used aside from practicing on old tin cans behind her HQ, but she knew it was now or never.

With determination, Star stomped on the brakes and the car came to a guttering halt a mere 15 feet from the end of the alleyway. As Johnny swung for her, malice on his face as deep red blood gushed from his broken nose, she ducked and grabbed the gun that was strapped to the bottom of her dashboard. Johnny grabbed her hat and pulled, yanking her head back along with the coils of braids she'd tucked underneath the fedora. There was a moment of confusion as her hair tumbled free and Johnny jerked back, surprised that his assailant was a diminutive young woman. His surprise turned to fear as Star took aim with her gun and unloaded the full clip straight into his chest.

An hour later Star watched as a couple of thugs came scrambling out of a seemingly abandoned building, shouting something at their very distressed boss. One of the thugs was clutching a small scrap of paper and the other thug was standing helplessly in front of the bonfire that was being held, unceremoniously, inside a green Packard. The paper simply read "R.I.P Big Johnny."

You gather the nearest weapon near you. A Scalpel from your last job, you slip it into your pocket.

You exit the vehicle in search of someone near by. Its past midnight, the streets are empty. You decide tonight would be the night you come out of retirement. You begin to pace towards the man near the fence, is he following you? who knows? You reach a close enough distance to have him hear you over the sound of his engine. You ask for the time.

He looks down at his watch, You strike with your scalpel cutting deep open wounds along his neck. There's blood everywhere. Its time for decisions. You make a call to a trusted source, a repo man so to speak. You push the now dead body over to the passenger side and start the car up. The blood is everywhere, you are overwhelmed. You begin to drive 20 minutes out the city, no cops have passed by thank god. You pull into to a scrapyard alongside the road . You see the person you are here to meet. He sees you. No words are spoken. You exit the vehicle he enters it, and drives it to a place where this night never happened. You leave the scrapyard, make a call to a local friend. They send a friend your way. You are on your way home, the rest is history.

Slamming the door closed, you stab the key into the ignition and give one last courtesy glance in the rearview to check your six.  You now see a man come to a stop after clearing the fence.  You flick the key and the engine comes roaring to life. Again, you check for the man at the fence, he's almost a grabs length away. You step on the peddle and screech the fuck out of there.

Your pulse begins to slow as the adrenaline starts to leave your body. You look in your rearview to see how much distance you've put between you and your pursuer and are surprised to see he's right on your tail, on a motorcycle. "Are you fucking kidding me?!" You stick your hand out of the window and flip the man off in frustration. You quickly draw your hand back into the car as a bullet whizzes by your arm and you slam your foot on that peddle and do your best to evade the man. You're turning, breaking, sliding around corners, but nothing you do is creating any sort of distance between you and the man on the bike. A couple more bullets whizz by your window and you hear a loud 'clank' noise as one of the bullets hits the car's taillight. The adrenaline is pulsating through your veins again as you try and figure out what the fuck to do, suddenly a thought comes to your head and you slam on your breaks. You look behind you and see the man's eyes light up as he pulls his break and his back tire flies up into the air. In slow motion, you see the man flipping upside down, slowly losing momentum in his flip and he and his bike fall straight onto his neck.

"OH FUCK!" You yell out to nobody. After the car comes to a halt you slam the car into park and step outside to find the nearest bush and start to Ralph at the gruesome scene you've just witnessed that keeps replaying in your head. After you're done, you pick your head back up and glance around to see if there are any spectators. No one is around, so you head back to the car and check the back seat one more time to ensure the stash is still there. Good. Everything is still there and intact. You hop back into the driver seat and casually drive off and head back to headquarters.

When you arrive, you park the car and head upstairs to the bosses' office. You see Zoom sitting at his desk with his door partly open. You head over and knock on the door and wait for a response. "Come in, Epiphany," your boss tells you. You walk in and put the goods on the chair. Before you can say a word, his eyebrow raises up. "Dude, you look rough, you good?" You sigh and let out a small laugh and say "Yeah, boss. I'm good. I just saw some shit that I didn't need to see on a full stomach is all." After you tell him about what happened, you turn around and grab the stash off of the chair and lay it on his desk. "I went through a lot of trouble for these donuts, but here they are, all 12 of them. The line over there at the Mertz Donut shop was too long, so I casually walked behind the counter and grabbed these donuts myself, boxed them and walked straight out the door, the man behind the counter, some bald guy looked at me in amazement the whole time and said nothing, so I thought he was going to let me slide. Nope. I was wrong, he chased me all the way to his own demise."

Epiphany - Renegades

Report Post Tip

The day began innocently enough. All she had to do was collect her boss' dues from Nicholas, the owner of a local pub. It was well known that the pub was a front, and the owner and employees were all involved in contract work. BlackWidow didn't concern herself with most of it, her only job was to collect the monthly dues. She'd been warned by her boss that Nicholas could have quite the temper, but had an affinity for pretty girls. Great. Creeps were her favorite.

The bar wasn't open yet, so she rang the buzzer, impatiently tapping her boot on the pavement. A man appeared at the door - the typical degenerate older white male. His hair was slicked back, his expensive suit protruded over his waistband, indicative of a life of overindulgence. Nicholas opened the door to her immediately, clearly not intimidated by her. His gaze felt like it burned into her soul, his lecherous stare stalling several times over her black bodysuit. She felt the need to take a shower.

"Come in, come in," he grinned at her as he ushered her inside. She couldn't shake the feeling of stepping right into the web of a spider. His gaze was fixed upon her and she felt her blood pressure rising. "Don't worry, I have the money for Nebula. Come have a drink with me, let's celebrate our partnership?"

BlackWidow rolled her eyes as he turned and filled two glasses with a bottle of whiskey from his desk. She watched as he dropped something in one of the drinks before handing it to her. This motherfucker. He'd obviously done this a lot, his pompous attitude allowing the error of spiking her drink where she could see him. She plastered a fake smile across her face and accepted the glass, turning and tossing the contents into a plant the second his back turned. She set the empty glass on his desk, startling him into turning back around.

"Well my my, you must have been thirsty," he chuckled, amused with himself. "I love this outfit, by the way. Are you even wearing underwear under that?" Nicholas sneered as he rounded his desk and made his way towards her. He was either ballsy as hell, or though the drugs had already taken effect - she didn't know which. Her eye twitched at the question, and her self control snapped. Her hand shot to the knife tucked into her utility belt as he got within arm's reach. "I'd like to find o-" he began. Before she could stop herself, she dragged the blade across his throat, reveling in the feeling of it sinking into his skin as tried to choke his words out. The sound of blood gurgling in his throat brought a smile to BlackWidow's face once again.

Nicholas managed to hit an alarm on his desk as he slumped to the floor. Sirens blared throughout the building and BlackWidow groaned. "Youuuu asshole," she spat, kicking him in his stomach as she swiped the money off his desk and shoved it inside her purse. She looked around, trying to find the closest exit as a door in the back swung open. She ducked out a side entrance, a couple employees rushing towards their boss in her peripheral vision as the door clicked closed.

After jumping the fence, BlackWidow was relieved to see the get-away vehicle only a short sprint away. As she reached the car, she craned her head around to see if anyone was in pursuit. So far, so good. Slamming the door closed, she stabbed the key into the ignition and gave one last courtesy glance in the rear view to check her six. She saw a man coming to the stop after clearing the fence. She flicked the key - nothing. The car didn't even sputter. A dull clicking sound repeated as she anxiously attempted the ignition repeatedly.

"Shit, shit shit SHIT," she swore loudly at the turn of events. The man was coming up to the back of her car, peering in her window and assessing the situation. BlackWidow sighed and opened the car door, slowly rotating and seductively placing her legs outside of the vehicle before stepping into view. Nicholas' lackey seemed to have taken notice of her black leather get up, slowing his approach and following her around to the front of the car. She pretended to be oblivious as she popped the hood, holding it open with one hand as she managed her best look of confusion.

"Hey sweet thing, you see someone running past here?" He grinned at her and hooked an arm around her waist, his hand traveling across her side. "You need some help, baby girl?" This man obviously had zero ability to stay focused on his task. BlackWidow bit the inside of her lip as her rage broiled, the encounter with his boss still fresh in her mind.

"Gosh, you're my hero. I really could use your help. Can you reach that?" she asked as innocently as possible, pointing to god knows what at the back of the engine bay. He leaned forward and she slammed the hood down on his back - repeatedly. He slumped forward, only his head resting on the lip, but her rage hadn't ceased; she continued slamming the hood down, taking out of all her day's frustrations. His blood leaked down the front of the car, the echo of his snapping neck only encouraging her further as she beheaded the employee.

The head rolled forward into the engine bay and settled between the mechanics of her car. His eyes were still open, wide in an expression of shock. BlackWidow took a deep breath and smiled, leaving her trophy there as she shut the hood. She pushed the body out of the way with the tip of her boot, kicking the headless corpse down into the sewers.

Fuck this. She was calling a taxi.

The job was supposed to be simple...

The objective was clear and he had gone through the scenario dozens of times in his head. He was meant to enter the building, disguise intact, then eliminate the threat to his family. He had been given access to the kitchen area and the necessary resources to ensure that the next meal prepared for the Head of the Gutto family, would be his last.

Tonight though, there was one fatal error. There had been rumours circulating about potentail resistance from another rival family. They were known as 'The Cartel' and had been causing quite a scene through-out the 7 Cities and had now moved to try and take more land, by force if necessary. This meant an increase in security but not only that, some specialists had been contracted in by the Gutto's and these guys were way smarter than the average Thug.

One thing was clear, he never failed, ever. The food was hand delivered and he watched as it was consumed in its entirety. Within one hour it would be complete but as he began to exit, he was spotted by someone who he had done work with in the past during his own contract days.

"Shit", he thought to himself.

"You! Stop! You shouldn't be here! Guards! Get that man!", shouted the hired muscle.

After jumping the fence, he was relieved to see the get-away vehicle only a short sprint away.  As he reached the car, he cranes his head around to see if anyone is in pursuit.  So far so good. Slamming the door closed, he stabbed the key into the ignition and give one last courtesy glance in the rear view to check his six.  Seeing a man come to a stop after clearing the fence, he flicked the key and stepped on the gas pedal.

It was time to get back and report the results to his Don asap. The job had been complete but not without complications. Preparations would now need to be made incase he could be tied to the Renegades. This story was FAR from over...

Report Post Tip

You hear a man shouting words that are not clear to you. Your head is still in pain and everything seems black. There is something on your head that blocks your vision and as time passes by, everything seems clearer. Your hands are tied behind your back, you can feel the tight grips of hands around your arms and suddenly someone pulls whatever was covering your head. You look around and to your surprise, you are on a pirate ship with a group of people, covered in ash and blood, circling you. You seem to understand now. Your ship attacked the enemy but lost. Now, in pirate law, you will have to walk the plank to your death. As the swords are pinching your back and you walk forward, fear is starting to conquer you and then as you jump you wake up.

You look around and it takes you a minute to realise that you are in your bed. You get up and pick up a towel to wipe your forehead with it. "Why do we always remember the bad ones?" you think as you prepare your morning coffee. Sun started to rise and today was going to be a special one for you. Don Federico had invited you to meet him in his cafe today. This was a clear indication that the time to become a made man was finally here. You would be the first undercover agent that would manage to infiltrate that deep in the operations of organised crime. "If only they knew" you thought and a smile appeared on your face. But first, you would have to prove yourself by doing a tough job for the family. You prepared for this moment for a long time now and you would not fail. No matter what it was, you had the blessings of your superiors to go through with it.

Coffee, cigarette, newspaper and time passed before you knew it. Soon you heard the horn from outside. It was Fred, your childhood friend that you used to get in contact with the syndicate. Two lives that took opposite directions at some point. Fred would be with you on the job and he knew all the details already. You dressed up quickly and went outside. After the typical exchange of good mornings, you entered the car.

The drive was kinda long you left the city's limits and went in the neighborhoods where all the high class people were leaving. Doctors, artists, politicians. They were all leaving in these places. Fred parked the car in the corner of the area's main street.

"What is the job Fred" you asked to just receive a short "We are delivering a message tonight." by Fred

"We still have all day to watch and make sure the job will be clean though, so sit tight." he said and pointed towards a house on the opposing side of the road. He pulled out his newspaper and started reading.

Hours and hours passed. The night was here and as soon as the last light went off in the house you were watching, Fred pushed you with his elbow "It's time." he said and reaching into his pocket, he took out a pistol and gave it to you."Use it only if I tell you to do it." he said.

"Go around the fence. I will go in from the front. If the back door is unlocked, wait for me and we will go inside together." Fred said and you went out of the car.

Moving down the road you turned back and saw Fred standing by the car as he would need less time than yourself to get in the perimeter of the house. "I hope the fucker won't ditch me." you thought and moved around the fence. You moved as calmly as possible to avoid getting anyone's attention and jumped inside when you made sure no one was around looking. Crouching, you moved towards the back door. You slowly turned the handle. The door was open. "These people must feel so secure. They will never see this coming." you thought and waited for Fred to come.

Not even a minute later Fred came over and made you a signal to go inside. He seemed to know exactly where he was going as he avoided all furniture with ease. You start climbing the stairs, still crouching and being as quiet as possible. Reaching the top floor, Fred stood up and you followed. He pulled out his gun and walked towards a room with double doors.

With a single kick, the doors opened and inside you saw a man sleeping in his bedroom. The noise woke him up and he immediately opened the light. You recognised the man's face. It was a judge that was in the payroll of the family but lately he had a few cases ruled against it.

Fred pointed his gun towards the man and made you a notion to do the same. The man dropped to his knees as he was begging for his life to be spared pointing out how well he could serve the family in the future.

"The old man wanted you to know that once in, there is only one way out." Fred said and he pulled the trigger. You started shooting too. You stopped feeling much. The adrenaline overwhelmed all your senses. You only stopped when the gun was empty. But the sound of the guns brought more problems. Dogs were barking all across the neighbourhood. You looked out the window and saw lights coming on all across the road.

"We have to move fast" Fred yelled at you. "Go start the car. I have to find something and I am coming right behind you." he said and you immediately followed his instructions. You ran downstairs and then through the front yard.

It's Fred.  You flick the key and drive away as fast as possible when Fred gets in the car. Your emotions are mixed. You proved yourself today but what scares you is what more you will have to do.

After jumping the fence, you are relieved to see the getaway vehicle is only a short sprint away.  As you reach the car, you crane your head around to see if anyone is in pursuit.  So far so good. Slamming the door closed, you stab the key into the ignition and give one last courtesy glance in the rearview to check your six.  You now see a man come to a stop after clearing the fence.  You flick the key, but it's useless! As N0b0dy turned it, nothing happens. Making a split decision, you decide to make a run for it.

After a good twenty minute of running as fast as physically possible, N0b0dy thinks he's lost the tail. The squawking wind is a bitch. It pulls at his clothing and picks up leaves and litter from the ground. N0b0dy pulls his collar up as he approaches an intersection.

"Excuse me," says an old man, "you crossing the street?"

The whistling wind muffles the man's words but N0b0dy understands. He negotiates the curb with the man and almost at arm's length guides him across the intersection.

"I'm seventy-nine."

The man states. He doesn't expect sympathy. He has been nervously waiting to cross here daily. N0b0dy refrains from warning the ancient on the merits of survival and the consequences of his present situation. N0b0dy is secure in the knowledge that he would personally not want to exist in a frame of calcified bones and wasted muscles.

"Sight's not too good. Can't see the damn cars."

N0b0dy replies

"Don't worry, those of us with good vision aren't too safe either."

N0b0dy and the old man are crossing the center lane when two cars accelerate around the corner. They are vintage Fords, those manufactured during the era known as the Roaring Twenties. Their motors scream insanely and their tires burn rubber as they career alongside one another. Matching speeds, they crowd the street.

The old man panics, tears away from N0b0dy, and staggers blindly. He appears deafened by the noise, shaken by the speed of the charging automobiles. The left-hand fender of one car strikes the old pedestrian with sickening force, lifts him into the air, crushes bone and flesh into a bloody paste and somersaults him onto the windscreen. His false teeth explode from his mouth as his head disintegrates amidst shards of glass from the imploding windscreen. N0b0dy swears and instinctively shields himself. The old man's body hangs snared by the jagged glass. Trapped between two cars, N0b0dy hits the cobbles in a defensive crouch as the occupant of the cars empties multiple magazines of steel-jacketed bullets in his general direction. N0b0dy springs forward and rolls to absorb the impact of skin against the uneven street.

He scuttles for safety toward a nearby Pub. The two screeching cars speed off, the lead car billowing smoke. Still full of adrenaline he steps inside the Pub. Scanning the room he walks up to the bar, ordering himself a bottle of whiskey. After a few big gulps of the honey-colored liquid gold, his senses started coming back to him. With the images of the old man's ragged body still in his head, N0b0dy calls his boss DarGabrielson to send over a car to pick him up. As the adrenaline settles it makes place for anger, no fury! How dare they?!

Not much later the door to the Pub opens, it's DarGabrielson himself. N0b0dy nods at the bartender and tips him generously, one bartender to another. Turning to his Boss who took the seat next to him, he starts explaining what had transpired.

After he's done explaining he mumbles,

"All this over a woman..."

Report Post Tips: 1 / Total: $20,000 Tip

I was thinking of writing a life story. I saw an ad for a writing seminar. $1000 bucks seemed a little high, but what the hell, I have the cash. As I was walking into the building, I noticed a shocking number of guards. Most were packing some kind of heat. Odd for a lecture. I went into the auditorium, found a seat near the back. As I took my seat I heard the doors being closed and locked. THAT got my attention quickly. "Why lock the doors?" I said under my breath. The guy was already speaking when I came in.

"... We will start doing this on the regular, and will continue as long as there seems to be reasonable interest.  A writing prompt is simply a ultra short idea that kicks off a short story using what I have provided to create your own version of my event, before, during, and after.  I

will be giving away prizes for these based upon effort, entertainment value, and creativity.

Please keep it original, rated R is OK, rated X is not.  Be sure finish your short story with your name and full crew name, in bold, right justified and at the bottom.  You do not need to use the writing prompt word for word.

Anyway, onto the sauce: ...."

I fell asleep for a bit. When I woke I noticed ushers passing out small cups to everyone. I got my and looked at it ... orange liquid, smelled like Kool-aid. I knew right away something was wrong. The speaker was saying "It's alright folks. You won't feel anything." What the fuck did I wake to?

I quietly got out of my seat a headed towards the fire exit. I knew the alarm would sound as soon as I opened it. I paused, took a deep breath, and went for it.

The door opened to the back of the building. Small area. Fence all around. With the alarm blaring I dashed for it. I heard a guard yelling "SIR! WAIT! You don't understand." I jumped, grabbed the top of the fence, hauled my ass over and jumped down on the other side. I saw my car just a bit up the road. I ran to it, taking the keys out of my pocket as I went. I unlocked the door and slammed it shut. In the mirror I noticed the guard clearing the fence. I jammed the key into the ignition, started the car and sped away. "Fuck THAT!" I said to my windshield. I drove to the nearest book store, looking for "Writing for Dummies".

You flick the key two tads to the right and start to wait for the sound of the engine starting. With a rage filled sigh you hammer your hands down on the steering wheel, and you keep on doing so until your right hands start to prickle. What the fuck am I going to do? What am I going to fucking do? Your face is glistening with small drops of sweat trilling right down of it.

“This was supposed to work this damn car was supposed to be fucking ready…” You mutter to yourself, feeling a slight strike of panic hitting you. The man behind was getting closer and you are trying to decide whether to stick in the car or jump out and run away. Maybe if you ran really fast it would work, but that belly of yours would definitely not be much of a help to you.

You breathed heavily in and wanted to give it one last try. On the car seat next to you laid a big bag, and your mouth was watering with the thought of the goodies inside of it. Marty would have laughed at you, at you in your pathetic situation. He would have patted you on your shoulder and said, “God, Joe, could you stop being so pathetic?”

But Marty was not here. The only one here was you, the 10-million-dollar bag and the man coming to take it all back and throw you in jail for the rest of your life. At the start of the whole thing you were not sure whether to accept the deal or not. But when they say you could keep half of it, your mind stopped thinking and let your heart decide. With the money you could leave this excuse of a life back here, and go start a family. Or you could go and use them on whatever you needed. You grinned and grabbed the bag. No not what you needed, but what you wanted. You thought it was your time to shine and do whatever you pleased. All your life you had been walking in your parent’s footsteps, but this was not how you wanted to be.

With a snap back to reality, you suddenly realized that the man was by your car. You had failed the mission and failed yourself. If you had not gotten this offer you would have been in your low-life apartment, with no one to share it with. You would have been sitting in your couch in your not-so-white-anymore stained tanktop, sitting in your stench and misery. But with this offer, you could be a new man. A new you. Respected, looked up to. No one would ever dare to call you Stinky again. You muttered to yourself. They would not dare. Because you would have the protection that you needed also. You could be THE man.

With a strong grip around the bag, you pulled it close to you and waited for the perfect moment. You locked the doors on the opposite side of the car, only having your own not locked. The man stood next to your car door and and you kicked it open without hesitation. There was not any room for that shit, you thougt.

The man behind had not seen the car door coming at him, so he looked surprised before falling to the ground. You felt a little pity towards him. He was only doing his job, just as you were supposed to. But this was a jungle, and you either had to flight or fight. Flight was more like your type of thing, so you jumped out of the car and ran away. Stepping on the man as you fled the scene.

Just like the coward people always had told you that you were. Just like the low-life being that you suddenly realized that you are and always have been. You went on with living your life. You got the money where it had to be and you felt happy. Never once were you thinking back and got sad about it.

You flick the key to the right, nothing. The sweat starts to run down your face from all pours. Everything was moving at a pace that you couldn't comprehend, but you knew you had to make this happen. Nothing good ever comes from the hustle sometime, but what is done, is done. You flick the key to the left, and the engine rumbles.. shaking as it finally starts. The man who had just cleared the fence was already in motion. He had the look of determination, and revenge in his eyes. In haste you press on the gas pedal and put it into gear. As the wheels spin and the vehicle fishtails, the man was just in reach, you could feel his fingers on the side of the door as you pull away in a midst of dust and smoke. On the move, you check the rear view and see the man laying on the ground as the dust settles. You continue to madly speed your way to the destination completely focused with nothing to distract you from completing this mission. They better be waiting You say as you double check behind you, and look over into the back seat to make sure everything was still good.

It was hard to be Don. It might be harder to be A don, but Don Parmigiano was happy to let others mistake his name for his rank. He'd even started to think of himself as The Big Cheese.

Which is why it felt so undignified to be running for his life. His bodyguards were in puddles behind him; they'd all been caught sneaking around a rival's compound. Come with us Don, they said. It'll be easy, they said. They're all out of down, they said. If "they" weren't already dead, Don P would be planning to kill them himself. Boil them alive. In cheddar. Bastards. Cheddar was too good for them.

Don's heart was pumping, less with fear and more with the fact that he had not had proper exercise since the Great War had started. All that lack of work, lost in the blink of an eye. His extra bulk shifted repeatedly like tectonic plates of fat; the jiggling resulting in his skin slapping together in ways that would have appalled both God and Charles Darwin. When he saw the fence looming before him, he remembered back when he was a young man climbing fences... many years and many pounds ago. With barely enough energy to keep running, and hearing the barking of hounds behind him, Don Parmigiano simply picked up speed as he rushed the fence, ankles planting with nearly enough force to shatter either them or the ground. When he hit the fence, he felt the wires dig into his hands, his stomach, his... well, mostly his stomach. It hurt for a moment, before his bulk and momentum knocked the fence down flat in front of him.

He had no breath left to either curse or pray, but simply wiped the sweat from his eyes and started an awkward, shuffling run.

After jumping the fence, he was relieved to see the get-away vehicle was only a short sprint away. As he reached the car, he craned his head around to see if anyone was in pursuit. So far so good. Slamming the door closed, he stabbed the key into the ignition and gave one last courtesy glance in the rear view to check his six. He now saw a man come to a stop after clearing the fence. He flicked the key, but nothing happened- it wouldn't turn; Don Parmigiano recognized the man was shouting at him. It was one of his bodyguards.

"Don! No! Wrong car!"

"HOLY FUCKING PECORINO!"

With a bellow, Don pulled his key, which had never truly slid into the ignition, and waddled over to the car next to him, which was his. The bodyguard, wounded, had already slid into the passenger seat. This time, the car started as his rival's bodyguards came into view. Don Parmigiano drove away quickly as his enemies jumped into the car he had originally occupied. And when they turned the key... boom... the car exploded in a fireball.

"Good thing your key didn't work on that car, eh Don?"

Parmigiano floored it as they pulled onto the main road.

"No fucking shit, you fucking useless bodyguard. You said they weren't even going to be there!"

Still gasping for breath, Don pulled out his gun and shot his bodyguard three times in the torso, nearly swerving off the road.

"Well you're either a fucking traitor or fucking incompetent. Either way, you deserved that."

As he drove towards the sunset, Don Parmigiano finally started getting his breathing under control. The setting sun diffused its ways amongst the clouds, scattering yellows and golds through the sky like so many varied flavors of cheese.

It was supposed to be a simple smash and grab for the family to help prove yourself. At first it had even lived up to that. They were small time drug runners, not worth the attention of a proper hit man, but they had been trying to get a foothold in your family's territory and needed to be taught a lesson. Losing enough money would be sure to put them on the back foot and encourage them to seek opportunity elsewhere.

When you arrive at the sprawling house you find a simple approach over the fence and through a wooded yard with plenty of cover. None of the guards were anywhere to be seen as you jimmy open the window and creep into the hall by the pantry where the mark kept their take for the week. You feel like things might be going just a little too easy but you aren't about to look a gift horse in the mouth. It only takes a minute's concentration to pick your way through the lock on the door and you push it open to see the safe standing on a table just inside the small room. Thankful for your good fortune, you enter and lay your hands on the safe just as you hear the most terrifying sound you've ever known: the click of a revolver's hammer drawing back.

You start to turn and face the noise, but you pause as the person behind you speaks. "Don't try it or I'll be cleaning this room all night." It was Leo, the two-bit con running the operation. His voice was just as greasy as he was and your skin crawls hearing him and knowing what a bad position he has you in. With a chuckle he continues, "I was wondering when you'd show. You smug 'mafia' bastards are always so inconsiderate. I'm a busy man and you've been taking far too much of my valuable time. Now if you'd be so kind, let's step out to the front room where we can discuss what we're gonna do with you." You wonder briefly if this whole thing was a setup or if bad intel was fed to your guys. You quickly shake off those thoughts knowing that it won't matter either way if you don't get back to warn the boss. Your mind races to find an opportunity to escape and you realize the scum has given you a chance. It might be a long shot but it's better than the alternative.

You raise your hands above your head as you turn for the door, but while your back is still to Leo you palm a small knife you keep for emergencies. The fool stays by the door as you approach, probably thinking that the fight is already over, but when you get within arm's reach you cut down at his face. When his arms come up in defense, you grab at his gun with your free hand and push it to his chest as you fumble for the trigger. A short struggle and two deafening bursts later and Leo is lying on the ground motionless. You take the gun and your knife with you as you haul ass out the window and back across the yard before Leo's guards can find you. The job is a bust but it looks like the message has been sent just the same.

After jumping the fence, you were relieved to see your get-away vehicle remains right where you left it.  As you reach the car, you crane your head around to see if anyone is in pursuit.  So far so good. Slamming the door closed, you stab the key into the ignition and give one last courtesy glance in the rear view to check your six.  You now see a man come to a stop after clearing the fence.  You flick the key in a panic but your old jalopy struggles to turn over. You reach out the window to take a couple pot shots at the man and dissuade him from approaching but the click of the empty revolver puts an end to whatever confidence you have left. The bastard hadn't even filled all the chambers to deal with you. You'd be insulted if you weren't so scared for your life.

Another flick of the key sees the engine crank to life and you can't help but laugh as you jam the gas pedal to the floor and look up one last time only to see Leo a few feet behind the car. As you pull away, spraying gravel into Leo's face your heart sinks to your feet. You have no idea how he could have survived the two rounds you put into him point blank, but you know now that he is far more dangerous than anyone had expected. You also know it's going to be a long night explaining to your boss why you came back empty handed and how you managed to screw up taking out a man who was lying unconscious with his pistol in your hand.

RONGGG!!", the sound coming from the engine have notice the chaser and all the eyes around the area shock focus on the sudden sound of after burner.

The tire spin! HEEEeeekkkkk! Drifting 20 degree and the car set into furious motion towards a one way road, leaving a white smoke behind. All the pedestrian around make a way for Lisa and her Black yellow stripes Tatra 10, Its modified and one of the fastest car in its time.  Lisa look at her rear mirror and see that the man is not alone, there more man coming over the fence with rifle and they start to hijack other people car who was just watching the scenario at first.

Lisa while shes on pursuit to the safe zone where her group is on standby at the vintage point for an ambush. On her right hand. She holding her Mauser C96 firearm that she just grabbed under the sit, just in case if the chaser pass through for self defense. Even though Tatra 10 is a fast car with best acceleration, the handling on corners is its disadvantage, make it easier for the group of mafia behind her to catching up. Suddenly a few bullet hit the back of the car, definitely a shot from the rifle.

Lisa is just 2 minutes away from the vintage point. She's the most wanted thief in the city now probably across the nation, but her identity still remains unknown to the chaser. Lisa just stole a pink diamond worth eight digits from the residence where the top 1% of 1% in America live in, They all big gangster who owning many business living in there together like fortress. Lisa has slip through into the area disguises herself as an innocent wine & champagne pour-maid for a couple of month before she make a move of the mission.

At the vintage point, from a far. Lisa sees a flash like a blinking star in rapid tempo on the top of the building. Its her group! making a simultaneous shot! the sound of rain of bullet pass through above her Tatra 10 roof can be heard why she's driving towards the gate of the Seattle stronghold. Suddenly, KABOOM! a few gasoline container explode causes by the improvise explosive, and stopped the chaser on their track. They return fire, however they lack of accuracy, burning with the heat and losing ground, because the allied ambush is on the high ground and it is an absolute advantage for accuracy. A few minutes pass, all the man who chase Lisa are dead. The cops are starting to flood the scene. The most important is that the Pink Diamond is in hand. Lisa and her group make an escape successfully without any failure.

Slamming the door closed, you stab the key into the ignition and give one last courtesy glance in the rear view to check your six.  You now see a man come to a stop after clearing the fence.  You flick the key and hear a weird sound as the car will not start. You vaguely remember the sound, but can't connect the place and time with the sound you heard before..

A new look in the rear-view mirror sees a silhouette of a man that does not seem to rush anymore, putting his hands in his sides as if he is waiting for something to happen. You hold the key between your index-finger and thumb and just at the moment you are about to flick the key again, you suddenly remember..

As you think back of the planned attack on the Superior Court judge, now about 2 months ago, sweat breaks, on comes dripping down over your temples. You take your fingers of the key and look in the rear-view mirror once more. The silhouetted man is now gesturing, as if stuff does not go according to how it is planned and he is alerting others..

You don't think twice and open the door and you start running, you start running as if you want to beat Bill Bonthron's athletics record on the mile. You don't dare looking behind you, as you need to stay fully focussed on the rough terrain you are mastering. You get to a junction of paths and you think fast. Choosing the small side track that is looping uphill would be the most obvious route, so you decide to stick to the main path. You follow it for four seconds when you decide otherwise.

They will think I think the obvious route is the one I would not take, because it is too obvious, so you turn around, hear sounds of people approaching, then you take the small, obvious, path. You rush up the hill when you suddenly hear a snapping sound. You are scared for a quick moment, then you look down.. to see your foot caught in a bloody bear trap..
You kneel down and try to pull it open, making the trap shut closed again time after time, because of your hand slipping away by the blood, punching your ankle time after time. After a series of tries you finally manage to get your heavily bleeding foot out, and limp away from the path. You feel dizzy, you need air, you pass out..

As you come to your senses there is a big, warm light shining on you. You are delighted to feel the heat of the sun on your face, slowly you open your eyes to see a lightbulb less than a foot away from your face. You try to move, but are tight up on a chair in the middle of a big warehouse. You close your eyes and sigh..

Why doesn't this end like it does in the movies?

Slamming the door closed, you stab the key into the ignition and give one last courtesy glance in the rear view to check your six. You flick the key and repeat to yourself the daily mantra: "Nobody can catch me, I'm the Gingerbread Man."

The adrenaline instantly pulsed into your veins as the your foot slammed down onto the gas. The roar of the engine barely muffled the gunfire directed at you from the maddened mobsters left in the dust. Barreling around the corner, you ducked out of their lines-of-sight and onto Main Street. The world quickly fell quiet as you drifted into a hyper focused consciousness. Every other second a flash of color revealed another car that you passed, people who just couldn't keep up. They were all just too slow. Everybody was.

You had been a professional race car driver, blazing down tracks and letting the biggest, baddest engines rip. It was an absolute dream. When your sponsors dumped you, it was because they hadn't had the guts to pull off the tricks you had. The drifts. The split-second reaction jump starts in a race. 'It's against the rules,' they would all say. Nowhere in the rules did it say it was prohibited to be the best driver round town.

So you turned to crime. The easiest life to stay in the fast lane. Cops couldn't keep up. They just weren't built for it. You're a Gingerbread Man, all you gotta do is put your proverbial feet on the pavement and start running. Mobsters couldn't keep up. Too much baggage, you had thought. Too much politicking, too much red-tape and communication needed. It was easier- no- it was quicker to be in your own head, no time wasting on talking, no time wasted on schmoozing the local a holes. Cruising in the fast lane needed nothing of the sort. The occasional glance in the rear view mirror was the only evidence of your thoughts of others.

That was until they found you. The motel. That was an absolute mess.

The bodies had piled up, the lives that were utterly ruined.

You had been asleep, the only point at which you would be found in one place for longer than a few minutes. They pulled up in a couple of black roadsters and turned on their lights to illuminate through the thin drapes. What woke you up was the slam of a nearby neighbor opening their door, to be pushed back inside.

You scurried over to the dresser, where you left that gun. The metal grip you ran your hand over was so cold. It had been a while since you'd needed it. Years ago, a man had chosen the wrong house to burglarize. You were just a teen, but your parents weren't home. The man had been frightened by you, while you had been reading on the couch by the kitchen. For a teen, you were decently agile, you ran quickly around the corner, but he chased you close behind. He caught you and tried to smother you. You had known where your Dad kept the gun, but had never learned how to shoot it. Out of desperation, you lunged for it before falling to the floor with it concealed in your hands. The man had his revolver out and was pointing it at you, so you squeezed the trigger while closing your eyes.

After your Dad died, the gun went to you. Some sort of sick joke, or maybe a parting gift from the old man. No matter.

The mobsters had decided you were on a list. A hit list. A shit list. Didn't matter. Nothing ever did.

As you chambered a round, they loaded forty. The pull-back and rebounding clicks of the bolt to their guns stood out against the quiet night ambiance. With a deep breath, you dove to the floor, avoiding the oncoming onslaught of hot lead. The guns rattled, filling the quickly shattered window with bullets, and causing the blinds to swing rapidly as if dodging the bullets. You did a lot better than they did, though.

The mobsters shuffled up to the door before giving a courtesy knock. What a bunch of assholes. Whatever, dead assholes they are now. You opened the door, evidently surprising them, and put a couple rounds rapidly into each of them, before they could raise their barrels. The reaper's scythe quickly turned away from you and took them away.

You packed up your belongings, filling the back of your car once again to change locations. You had felt someone looking at you. Their eyes on you weren't violent, or needy, as most you had encountered were. Something inside you shifted. A downshift in gear, perhaps? The world seemed to slow down, and you could feel your whole world changing.

"Damn, I knew I should have taken the boss's car."

Grabbing the bag of cash she had thrown in the seat next to her she got out and start running. She turned down an alley and spoted a door propped open with a crate. As she reach the door she took a look back and saw that the guy had stopped and was looking for her. She took a quick breath of relief as she went through the door. Unfortunately as she was looking back she forgot the crate was there and tripped on it, falling with a loud crash. The guy on foot heard the noise and started to pursue her once again. Not wasting any time she got up and started running through the kitchen of one of the small cafe's in the area. Reaching the front of the establishment she glanced both ways to decide where to go next."Fuck it"

Running out of the cafe and down the sidewalk she bumped into a few people nearly losing her footing but still going. Even though he had slowed up a bit he was still too close for comfort. She knew she had to find a way to lose this guy.

She ran around the side of a building where she spotted a few dumpsters. Without hesitation she jumped into one and closed the lid. The smell was so bad she had to try not to breath to keep from vomiting.  After a few moments, and not being able to handle the odor anymore, she peeked out to see the man was gone. She slowly climbed out still watching and looking to make sure he had really gone. Even though she had managed to escape the man chasing her she couldn't escape the smell that was now attached to her clothes and in her nose. Very carefully she made her way back home to clean up before taking the money to the HQ.
