| It’s not common at all anymore for high profile mob hits, so he must have truly pissed somebody off or somebody got really greedy. My guess would be it was internal and somebody wanted the top spot. | |

Frank Cali was well respected in the Gambino family. He also strengthened ties with the italian mafia in Italy through marriage. Everything you read on him promotes this larger than life mafiosi. He was huge in terms of power and connections. I can't help but think that maybe Gene Gotti had something to do with this. Gene did 30+ years for the Gambino family and kept hia mouth shut. Upon his release he wasn't given shit. No bump up the ladder, or any kind of promotion. I feel like if Gene had anything to with it it was over a feeling of entitlement. His brother John Gotti killed Castellano. Whos to say his brother Gene didn't feel like he could do it too. There's also this giant cocaine bust that just happened in jersey. What if the Gambinos had involvement in that and got it on consignment with no way to pay for it after its seizure. Only time will tell but I hope we find out. I'm a huge mafia buff and have followed Cali's career for years. |

The news reports I read mentioned that although there haven't been any bosses killed in a while a number of low level guys have been being shot in recent years. Makes me wonder if a power struggle has been going on in the city under the radar for awhile and this is it coming to the surface - if so it could get bloody. |

For one thing, the player Frank-Cali better watch out lol.
As for theories, here's mine: Frank got into the mafia as a government agent. He was feeding the FBI info all the time. The mafia found it out, but couldn't kill him by that time, because he had so many loyal followers. But then the government killed him, because they found out that he was an alien, sent to infiltrate the FBI so that the FBI can't resist when aliens take over the world. |

There is a million theories but this was a crime of passion. The wife or the girlfriend or both. Shot 6 times then ran over that's not mob style that's flat out hate and only a lover hates like that. Just my 2 cents. Also the Lucchese's had nothing to do with that hit. |
