Killing the innocents - Ethics Started by: Rudy on May 29, '19 09:16

Jax stopped to observe the spectacle in the street, listening to both sides before speaking publicly for the first time since he got off the boat. "I believe there is no issue with the Innocents that were killed. Reading my father's journals it is known that he was allied with Seattle since his birth, as was his father"

Jax wiped his brow, struggling to speak of his father

"My father's journals indicate he had always intended to assist Seattle, and blur, but the measures that were taken prevented it, proving them effective. When blur was removed, ultimately ending the war, my family was no longer tied down by loyalties. This allowed me to make new alliances, decide my own loyalties, and allowed my blood line to move on."

"Ultimately, I believe ending the war by any means necessary was the correct decision, or I truly believe my family's fierce loyalty would have led me to fight and die for a cause that had nothing to do with me. Just as my father and grandfather did"

Tutte..
Rudy spoke slowly as he shook his head
I've listened to every word and I think I can honestly say I disagree with every word..

Rudy frowned, understood the stupidity of his words and then rephrased..
For all linguists amongst us, I do acknowledge that the words Tutte has just used actually are words, and I do not deny the existence of their respective meanings, but..

Turning back to Tutte, he continues whilst sticking up his thumb in the air,
One
The discussion was not about the war. It was about an act that happened in the war and clearly has worried some.

Sticking up his index finger, too, Rudy says
Two
If you are happy that a certain discussion has stopped, why bring that up in this discussion? It surely sounds like you are talking to be talking and not for a bigger cause than just the talking. I will get back on that later..

Now came the part Rudy always loved best, he flipped his middle finger up in the air, without being provocative.
Three Rudy smiled
The whole discussion was aimed to learn from what may or may not have gone wrong in the past. Looking back is essential in moving forward. How can you move forward if nothing in the past was looked at? If that would have been what mankind did, we would still be inventing how to make a fire every day and we would still be trying to find our ways on how to fight mammoths..

Hoping he made clear what he meant to say, Rudy added his ring finger. That always was tricky, as his little finger automatically was semi-raised along with the ring finger. That was the main reason he always made the fourth item a short one.
This life is not a game!

Quickly adding the little finger to have his whole hand lifted up in the air with stretched fingers, he breathed deeply and added
A discussion does not have to be won. A discussion is meant to discuss..

Rudy smiled, whispering
What's in a word?

and continued
..to discuss your ideas and thoughts, to make you see things in a different perspective. Perhaps some people, with new insights, can change their opinion, maybe the community as a whole can learn from what is said.

Slowly lowering his hand, he spoke
I absolute believe it is essential that there is interaction about the ethics in our community, and I must say that I thorougly enjoyed the discussion we have had about it right here. As Goethe said before to TheNavigator, we have had a great discussion. Insta has given us insights on what happened in the war, on why choices were made. Never, Identity, JohnnyLong and Mick were very clear in how they felt, and some brought up some possible indirect consequences of the actions taken. Fashion showed us the complexity of this matter and Aladdin made clear how the uppers maybe also felt these had been excruciating circumstances. Funnily enought, Jax-Everett's testimony didn't draw much attention, even though this for sure was one comment that is underlining the ambiguity of the matter, or maybe even was proving StripheVenzetti's opinion as being correct.

Rudy paused
And we even had Baby_Beel made understandable sounds about it.

Intensifying his look at Tutte, Rudy spoke
I think this is what the Streets should be about. Discussions!

Honestly, I am tired of people climbing on soapboxes talking to themselves, for themselves, just for the goal of chasing the benefits of speaking in public. Then, after getting no respons, coming back and continuing to speak about what noone cared to reply upon in the first place. Or even.. No one could reply on..

Rudy noticed his lowered hand had been clenched to a fist by this time. He slowly let go, lowered his voice and said

One of my forefathers once owned a garbage-can-company. It was controversial, but I more and more understand why he did what he did..

He stepped back and hoped his point to Tutte was been made clear.

It seems I have missed the discussion, which is unfortunate, but the chores gotta come first. However, Rudy, I'd like to thank you for bringing a discussion forward and commemorate you for adding actual substance to our streets. Discussions are the backbone of what this thing of ours was built on, and as can easily be seen by the multitude of mafiosi who have come out to speak, still have a place in our world. I daresay you had more to say in your original speech than Tutte has said in all of the 100+ times he has graced us with his idiocy.

I hope to hear more from you on subjects like these, and hopefully I won't be too busy chorin' to come out and put in my two cents.
