The imperial dragon Started by: Hanabi on Oct 27, '20 03:06

Gunther was a stranger to the city of Detroit, but he had business to conduct here. It didn't take long fortunately. However, the next flight out was hours away, it was still late in the evening, and he hadn't eaten in two days. It was time to make the most of his visit, he thought to himself. He hailed a cab driver, handed the man a stack of cash, and informed the driver that he was his personal driver for the evening. The driver looked at the cash, smiled and gave a nod.

Gunther spent about two hours exploring the city, before he could no longer ignore his hunger. He asked the cabby if there was anything worth eating, that he would regret not trying while in the city. The cabby gave a nod and drove Gunther straight to The Imperial Dragon. Gunther stepped out of the cab, walked to the entrance and was astonished. It was a beautiful building. As he entered his eyes only grew wider.

"So spectacular."

He said to himself. He awaited a staff  member to meet him at the entrance. All the while taking in the atmosphere of this luxurious restaurant. If this much detail was taken with the building, his mouth began to water at the thought of how much care went into the food.

Frank nodded and replied to Hanabi when she offered to teach him how to use the Bow.  He noticed her hands clasp together and asked her was she okay.  He also watched her look at another customer walked in.  He smiled and told her she has a business to run and he could wait while she greets them.   Frank watch as she nodded and smiled.

Report Post Tip

Some time should pass before a new customer namely Gunther entered the restaurant. If he wanted to come for the food, he was certainly at the right place in Detroit. The same could be said for drinks, and most certainly he also arrived at the perfect day if he is looking for entertainment as the business did not shy away from trying to entertain the guest and making memorable experiences on its very first opening day.

As soon as he arrived he was greeted by a female member of the staff wearing a traditional kimono just like Hanabi who welcome him in Japanese with a friendly ''Koban-wa.'' Pretty standard here even if might sound strange for the ones not used to the Japanese language. It did not take too long before Gunther was asked if he has any preference for where he would like to sit. If it was rather by the central part of the business just in front of the shinkansen show and the buddha statue, or rather somewhere in the corner where it's more peaceful or maybe on the first floor to have an overview of the restaurant. Hanabi saw him from afar and greeted him by slightly bowing when she saw him. She was a bit far away to engage in any other form of contact after all.

Meanwhile, she turns her attention back to Frank-Rosario as he nodded to her offer. She then tells Frank
''Do not blame me if you injure yourself during the bow training though! And especially not if you injure others'' she laughs.

Report Post Tip

Frank started laughing when Hanabi said not to blame her if he injured himself learning how to use the bow or if he injure someone else.  He reassured her that he was a little better then that.  Then he told her that in three days there's the tea ceremony so when is the bow training as he looked her in her eyes and smiled at her smile.

Report Post Tip

Hanabi continues to look at Frank-Rosario and smiles when he starts laughing at her warning to him, that it can be quite dangerous without experience. Hanabi nods at him as he reminds her of the ceremony and before she then adds ''I don´t know when you can? You are not from Detroit, are you? I have never seen you here before at least'' she smiles

Report Post Tip

Frank looked at Hanabi and nodded no that he was not from Detroit.  He told her he moved to Chicago but he was born in New York.  He looked into her eyes as he explains that his business is to invest in other business and help ensure that they make a profit as he gets a percentage.  Casino's to coffee shops news stands to restaurants the goal is always to make sure your money makes money.

Zeb BOING!'s in with a hunger that would embarrass a gannet

I haven't have food from south east Asia for some time.

as much as I love cream of sum yung guy, I'd rather have some wanton soup if that's ok?

Report Post Tip

Hanabi continues to listen to Frank-Rosario as she gives him her full attention. She nods as he mentions that he is not from Detroit, which she expected as she never saw him around before be it at a meeting or just around the streets of this city.  Not like she minds though. She continues to nod to show him she is listening and not just pretend to, whenever he says something. ''I understand. Why did you move to Chicago? Although I find New York very stressful. Way too busy as a city.'' she honestly mentions, from her own experience at least.

A new customer should enter soon with ZebedeeMcZebFace and so he was kindly greeted with a warm ''Konban-wa'' from her. The waitress asks him if he has a favoured place where he would like to sit while telling him that he can, of course, have wanton soup.

Report Post Tip

Zeb bows towards Hanabi and smiles

I'll take a booth if you don't mind, can I also have some tea?  it's freezing out!

Report Post Tip

Hanabi cannot help but also wave at ZebedeeMcZebFace after slightly bowing. She knows this person, after all. She already previously met him in a fajita business here in Detroit that also belongs to his family. He gets his answer shortly after ''Of course mister. Would you prefer one further away from the crowd, or do you want to have a seat right in front of the performance in the middle? And do you wish green sencha tea, matcha? or what do you like?''

SamRind looked over his order and felt impressed with himself. It was harder than ordering a sandwich, but SamRind was trying to expand his horizons and learn more about the people of America. The wonton soup was a safe bet, but some of dumpling action he was kinda certain it had meat, maybe shrimp, but it was worth the risk. He felt he was outside American when inside here and that was not a bad thing.

He gave a warm smile to Hanabi as she quietly made her way through the restaurant, surveying everyone from behind long bangs of hair.

"Konban-wa." Angela knew she was saying the wrong thing to Hanabi but she didn't know the proper term for 'morning'. She blushed again, for the 20th time it felt like, then gave a little bow to the hostess before turning to her dining companion.

"Smithy, this is Hanabi. We, uh, we work together. She owns this beautiful place. It's really something, isn't it?" Angela wasn't sure how to introduce Hanabi to the fellow she'd found hung over at the scene of her most recent crime, so she didn't even try to.

"I didn't call to reserve, do you have a table for us? Smithy here was just saying that he'd like to try something unique. I think I'll try something unique, too. And the tea, of course. You make the best of the best teas here!" Ugh, she was gushing like a schoolgirl. Her mouth wouldn't stop talking. She stole a glance at Smithy, but he didn't seem to notice her awkwardness, or if he did, he didn't look as if it bothered him too much.

Report Post Tip

Smithy smiles as he is introduced, he quickly removes his shades as some people would probably find it rude if he wore them inside. He looked around a little and boy was this a beautiful place, he was happy he wanted Asian food now.

"This is a lovely place you got here Hanabi."

He looks over at Angela and smiles.

"Do you think they got a table?"

Report Post Tip

"I bet they do. Even when they're as busy as this, Hanabi always manages to accommodate every single guest as if they're royalty. In fact, the- oh! That table is just perfect, that one over there, may we have that one please?" It was the same table she'd sat at once before, and Angela had enjoyed the view of the stage from it as the geisha had played her instrument. It looked as though they were in luck, no one was seated there, and there was no placard indicating that it was reserved for anyone. Angela grabbed Smithy by the hand and began to head that way, then dropped it when she realized what she'd done.

"Sorry. I didn't mean to snatch at you like that, I guess I got a little excited. This place just seems a bit magical to me. Look!" Angela pointed up at the sparkly diamond lights over their heads.

Report Post Tip

Smithy giggles as he his grabbed, the little lady managed to drag him with her like nothing, he was a little shocked but also impressed. He smiled and looked the sparkly diamond lights over their heads, they sure were pretty.

"That's alright, it's a lovely place, so I can understand you being excited."

He smiles as he looks up at the diamonds lights, loving the colors.

"So have you given any thought as to what you want to eat?"

Report Post Tip

"I think I'm going to try some funazushi." She pronounced it 'foo-nah-zoo-shee', hoping that was correct. She'd seen an article in an airplane magazine that talked about this specialty of Japan, and had been intrigued by the process of preserving the fresh funa fish in salt before stuffing it with steamed rice and then leaving it to ferment inside of barrels. The sharp, vinegary smell was considered off-putting to some, but Angela really wanted to try some. Once they had been seated, she leaned towards Smithy and whispered.

"You could probably get eyeballs or ants, those are delicacies, how unique are you wanting to go?"

Report Post Tip

Smithy got some cold chills when she mentioned eyeballs and ats, he really didn't want to go that unique.

"I think I'll try the funazushi as well, it has a nice ring to it."

He chuckles thinking it could be fun to try it out.

"I don't really want to try ants, that might be a little too unique for me."

Report Post Tip

"Well that's a relief, no disrespect to any other cultures, but it would be very hard for me later on to think about anything other than the ants if. Um. If we were talking." Angela laughed nervously, and was grateful when the tea arrived.

"So, what is it that you do for a living, Smithy? Are you employed by one of those fancy casinos out in the desert?"

Report Post Tip

"I agree with you one hundred percent on that one."

He smiles and chuckles lightly

"I guess you could say that, lots of flashing lights and money going in and out, sometimes it all blends together."

He takes a sip of the tea then looks at Angela.

"What do you do for a living if it's ok that I ask?"

Report Post Tip

Here she was again, struggling with the little white lies, or sins of omission, or whatever you wanted to call them. It was the absolute worst part of doing what she did.

"I- I'm an accountant for a group here in Detroit. I own a very small social club, too, one where people go to play games, you know, like cards? And sometimes I make small loans. I guess I'm doing okay, compared to so many out there who are struggling. It's good work, I don't mind it."

They were soon presented with a large platter of the funazushi, artfully fanned out in a circle. Angela said thank you to the server and looked for silverware, but found none.

"I guess you just- " Her hands flapped like little white birds, she didn't know what to do. It must be finger food? Angela picked up one of the little fish and took a small bite. The vinegar taste was quite strong, but after she chewed and swallowed the bite, she realized just how good it all tasted. Not like cat food or sardines at all!

"Yum! It's very good!"
