"That sounds like good business to me, and who doesn't love a good game of cards."

He looks a the large platter they are served, they must have known he was starving he thinks to himself.

"I guess there's no silverware huh?"

He grabs a piece and starts eating, it was good even though the smell of vinegar was a little off putting, but he could pull through.

"It's pretty good. You seem to enjoy it."

He chuckles and reaches for another piece of funazushi.

"I do, which is just crazy because I hate nearly everything and it's simpler if I just don't eat anything at all. Maybe it's the good company!" She smiled brightly at Smithy, hoping she didn't have any food in her teeth.

"Do you have to travel a lot, for your work? That would have to be difficult, for someone with a family." She was just being nosey now, but she didn't think Smithy would mind the question.

Report Post Tip

"You gotta eat though, if not you'll starve and I don't think that'll be very fun."

He smiles and looks at her.

"I travel a little bit here and there, I don't really got a family so I'm free to travel, and it's nice seeing different places from time to time."

He took another sip of his tea, really enjoying it.

Report Post Tip

"I have a family." Angela said it before she realized that anyone even remotely 'connected' just might start making those connections. She continued quickly.

"Mine are cats, though. I travel a little myself, and they hate me for it. You have to make a living, though, right?" Angela drank some tea. The china cups and pot that it came in must be something special, because the tea never seemed to cool off very much.

"Are there good places to visit in Vegas? The times I've been there were short, and I don't really like to gamble with my money. The last time I was there, I just paid a cabbie to drive me around while I waited for my flight." She'd run into a couple of others of her kind out there, and there had been guns involved, but at the end of it she'd managed to make a friend. Sort of.

Report Post Tip

"Cats are nice company and I agree you gotta make a living."

He smiled before finishing his cup of tea, then looking at her.

"I own a small bar on the outskirts of the strip, but most people seem to enjoy the casinos and everything that involves."

He wasn't really sure what to suggest since most people were happy to gamble and mostly lose their money as he hadn't really seen anyone walk out of a casino winning big in ages.

Report Post Tip

"Oh that's nice. With prohibition over, people sure are enjoying their booze! I serve it at my card room too, it makes the players spend more- I mean. They stay longer. Especially when I feed them salty snacks, ha ha!" Ooh, she'd slipped up pretty bad there, but it was too late to fix it now. People came to her place to gamble, so what? Smithy lived in Las Vegas, he'd understand.

"My guests behave themselves. I wouldn't be able to live on the second floor if they didn't. How about you, do you live on your premises, too?"

Report Post Tip

He laughs as he could relate to that one, people would indeed spend more after a certain amount of drinks.

"They sure are enjoying the booze that's for certain."

He smiles.

"I got a room in the back I use when I need to."

Report Post Tip

"Uh huh." Angela nodded, then glanced down at the platter, then glanced at it again, in shock. They'd eaten almost every bit of the funazushi!

"I guess we were both very hungry. I should be ashamed of myself, but it was pretty wonderful." She dabbed at her mouth with a napkin, then her eyes lit up.

"I know you must have a flight to catch, but if you happen to be out this way again next week, my cr- my business associates are hosting a lovely Christmas Market. There will be food, drink, toys and trinkets for sale. There's going to be an ice skating rink too, and I've been assigned to the Santa booth and the reindeer petting zoo, for the children? It should be a lot of fun, you could get your Christmas shopping done, or, um, bring a date, or your Las Vegas friends, you know, whatever." She blushed again, hopefully for the last time that day.

Report Post Tip

Smithy chuckles and looks at Angela.

"No need to be ashamed, it was a lovely meal, sometimes it's hard to stop."

"I don't got any flight to catch for a long while. Oooh that sounds like it could be a great time for everyone, I'd love to attend it and I hope lots of people show up. It really sounds like there's something for everyone there."

He smiles really looking forward to the market.

Report Post Tip

"That was the intention, something for everyone, I think there's something in the works for the grown-ups too, but I'm not in charge there. Another way for people to part with their money, I'm sure." Angela grinned happily, it was tough not to have the Christmas spirit already. She wasn't too clear on how the German/American celebration was supposed to go, but she understood Santa and reindeer well enough.

"Is there anything else you'd like to do while you're here in Detroit today? You can scratch 'wake up at a lighthouse' and 'eat weird fish' off your list, you have those covered." Angela started to laugh quietly, she couldn't help it.

Report Post Tip

"If people are having fun they will always spend some money."

He smiles thinking he's had a pretty exciting day so far in Detroit.

"I'm not sure to be honest, do you got any suggestions?"

He starts laughing with her, thinking it was a interesting combination for sure.

Report Post Tip

"I will tell you a secret, Smithy." She leaned close again, and hoped she didn't have stinky fishy breath.

"I am the most boring person you will ever know." She laughed some more, but it was so true, except for the killing people part.

"I work, I spend time with my cats. I don't drink, at least not well. I never gamble, not with my own money, anyway. People think I'm weird and standoffish, and they're not wrong. I'm awkward in social situations and I don't get out often. So I'm probably the worst person to ask for suggestions." She continued to smile so that he would know she didn't feel sorry for herself, nor was she looking for pity.

"I'm aware of some coffee places, and there seems to be a heck of a lot of candy stores, but I don't think I can fit anything else in, since we just ate this whole restaurant." Angela patted her belly and lifted her tea cup. It was empty, though, so she put it back down.

Report Post Tip

Smithy laughs as he could somewhat relate to most of what she said.

"Guess what, I'm socially awkward too."

He was so stuffed from all the food they ate that just hearing about candy he felt like he was getting fuller.

"I don't think I can eat or drink anything more, I'm pretty stuffed if I'm being honest."

Smiithy finishes his cup of tea and places the cup down gently.

Report Post Tip

"Do you play cards? I mean, there's my card room. There's almost always one or two poker games going, we have tables for every variation, but I've specifically placed tables in there that cover all the other popular games, too. 21, baccarat, gin and the like. The staff are all girls, even the doorman, and they're all wearing kitty ears." She laughed, realizing how this sounded now that she'd said it out loud.

Report Post Tip

Smihy could picture it as he listen to Angela tell him about the ladies in kitty ears, he smiled thinking that would be something he hadn't seen before, well at least not at a place that involved cards.

"That sounds delightful, would you be offended if I asked for a rain check?"

He smiled softly.

Report Post Tip

"Not at all! It's been a hectic 24 hours, I haven't slept yet, myself. Let me at least have one of the men get you to a nice hotel, there's a place called The Cadillac that's very upscale. I lived there for a while, when I first got to Detroit. They'll treat you like royalty." She beamed, happy that her new friend might come visit her tomorrow. Today.

What day was it?

Report Post Tip

"That sounds good to me, as long as there's a roof over my head, I'd e happy to sleep on a couch."

He was wondering if that was a stupid thing to say, but at least he was being honest.

"Thank you for a lovely evening by the way, I had lots of fun."

Report Post Tip

Hanabi has been quite busy with managing the event. It was honestly a good amount more stressful than the woman initially expected it to be. Not in a bad way, however, as it was the good sort of stress and she has enjoyed herself overall. Hanabi also returned the warm smile to SamRind and briefly welcomed him to the restaurant suggesting him the wonton soup as a starter and tells him to also ask for a fortune cookie they are free and it is a special day today.

She also sees Monkey_Schrute talking with Smithy and therefore she cannot help but join them again, at least for a brief time as she got her hands full with taking care of things today. So busy is all that is in her thoughts. The man complements the place, and she cannot help but smile at him ''Thank you. I am also glad you two enjoyed the food so much.''

Report Post Tip

Smithy reaches into his pocket to pull out a large stack of money, he made sure all of it went to tips. It was the least he could do after the great service, lovely atmosphere and the great food. He smiled, hoping it would make someones day as he had such a great time and would love to visit again.

"Thank you for a lovely meal and amazing service Hanabi."

He stood there smiling for a bit.

Report Post Tip

It seems like Hanabi still managed to catch up to them just before they left. Uff that was lucky. She cannot help but thank him as he pulled out the large stack of money and would make sure to divide it equally among the staff, while not taking any for herself. While she did always wanted to make more money and therefore expanded into the business ventures, she came from quite an influential and wealthy Japanese family, even if a very sketchy one.

She looks at Smithy and mentions ''Thank you. I am glad you enjoyed it, and you are more than welcome to revisit any time and get a free drink of your choosing on the house'' She looks at Sato, one of the members of the staff and shows him the sign two with her fingers he nods, before shortly after appearing in front of Monkey_Schrute and Smithy as well as herself and offering both of them a fortune cookie.
