There are some pretty clear holes in our world and one such is the lack of any competent law enforcement.

You are correct in that our aims would be best served by a prolonged peace and concentrate upon making profits. This is about business, not slaughter and we are not knights mounting our warhorses ready to purge the land of some evil. That isn't what we do and it certainly isn't the direction we should consider going down.

Equally and I say this reluctantly through somewhat clenched teeth - can you imagine just how dull our world would be if there was never any conflict? Any strife? Any loss? As a person, I'm horrified at any threat to my life; after all, it is all I have. My interests that I strive to cultivate every day, the assets I seek to acquire and the small corner I eek some profit out of for my family, are everything to me. How then, can I countenance the chance of losing them?

Unfortunately, I must step away from myself in order to consider these things properly.

(OOC: You're right - from a character perspective, war, death and slaughter are terrible for us. They get in the way of making money and they are therefore a terrible thing for business. However, as a player in this, I find the ever extending periods of peace in this World mind numbingly dull. I can only imagine that permanent peace, although only slightly different to the peace we have at the moment I suppose, would be unfathomable. The game lives on the interaction between players - especially when it results in a turnover of accounts and life. The game is at its finest when people are dealing with forces that are comprehendible and it is how they play the game, rather than how much money they've invested into their protection that make the difference.

The way of the world at the moment, we have so much - too much - money that our interests have been taken to the nth degree. We have too much protection, we live for too long and there isn't the regular turnover that the game needs. As a player therefore, I can't think of anything more damaging than a permanent peace. As Chuckle on the other hand, I can't advocate anything other than the continuation of my life, because it is all I have.)

This is a difficult matter to discuss, due to the complexity of the problem, but I hope that clarifies my thoughts on it.

Can I just say, this is stupid. Wars are the only reason so many people exist in this thing of ours. Without war there is no advancement. Without war there is to much strain and stress. So many mobsters live for that little wack button. This life is quite pointless really until a war happens and we see dead people like sixth sense. No, i replied to his constant argument that we should fight the law not ourselves. I wrote there was almost no resistence thereby no involvement. That was my argument.

I agree with you Rival, wars make this thing of ours exciting, I am simply stating that we should be fighting law enforcement and not each other....my brother.  And Rival, I'm pretty sure your bosses live for profits not dead bodies. If your management is cool with you making war because its exciting thats cool, but I'm sure your bosses would rather have you bring them increased profits than news of conflict.

I guess wed have to take a look at what profit means to us. Is IT invisible dollar signs that float above our heads or a status that dominates over any and all competition. Profit, success, is that which would make one man greater than the next. I think what must be known to all of us is what are the grounds for war? If men kill your brothers and their leaders dont punish them will you not seek revenge?

Godfathers obviously have to go to war at some point.

Few reasons are if someone has been disrepectful to a member or Crew Leader. This can lead to an arguement and then war.

If a city is thriving with members. Before a city gets too strong the Godfather can decide to take the city out because it will eventually grow too strong.

If to ensure the safety of the Citys crews.

Which gives us another point, we could post in the suggestions to put some police NPC's in each city, possibly 50 cops spawn a day in each city, and the amount of police also effect your chance of being arrested.

The point he is trying to make is that if there is peace there is no reason for one city to fear another city, and the only way that would happen is if there was another present threat. (I.E the police). He's trying to speak as if the treaty has already been signed, to show you what the outcome would be.

OOC: This is a game feature that should be implemented because 1) it's more realistic 2) it would give more opportunities and livin up the game.

Aldo why don't we just make the MIA's into police and increase there amount (because if we had police the need for MIAs would cease and it would become cops that we would train on, essentially) furthermore I think that the police should be able to affect our profits and the way we make money so that they actual BECOME a threat.

Going on 'Strike' - i've heard it all now.

You go on about making more money, yet you seem to forget that the love of money and materialism is the root to all kinds of evil, and will ultimately lead to bitterness and resentment

You make out that people start wars and go on killing sprees for the sheer fun of it. True this may occur once in a blue moon however that person is soon extinguished as it is the just thing to do. You may or may not be new to these shores, but believe me there is a much greater harmony across our cities compared to by-gone era's. Our Godfathers and future Godfathers are born out of death. As sad as it may be, the world will keep on turning and future leaders will be born from the aftermath

Wars and feuds keep people on their toes and make people question their own decisions, allows people to flourish out of moments of sadness and loss. It is the world we live in and the path we have chosen.

Unfortunately it is a necessary evil, and sometimes is the only option after all other roots of diplomacy have been extinguished. Like it or not, thats the way it is and the way it'll always be. We take that risk and we walk that tightrope everyday

Like I said. We should implement police, we should have them be able to arrest us and have the ability to take our profits so that they become a threat, and that way we would still have war, and still the ability to war each other if we must, but this way it throws in another threat. He's not saying stop ALL war hes saying stop war with each other all the time.
It IS pointless. Just because there's not war doesnt mean there wont be turnovers. Just because someones insulted you dont start a war over it do you? a WAR? Maybe you kill him or talk it over with their boss but there doesnt need to be war.

There can still be turnover, and war, but there is something major missing from this world of ours.

War is probably one of the best feature in the game. If it wasnt for war then I would not play.

I think there would be a few people that wouldnt care for the game as much if war did not happen as often, I know I would anyway.

Okay okay, I just wanted to participate in an interesting discussion about the structure of your "society," but it has now become readily apparent that this "society" is not for me. I don't have the time or energy to waste on THIS country's issues when I have REAL ones of my own.  I only came to these streets from my far off country because my wife moved here. I'm going back to my REAL country where I have REAL problems, REAL goals, can see REAL progress and where my time is spent producing REAL things. For my immigrant friends who are here as a form of ESCAPE from your REAL country I would just like to offer you the chance to come back with me to a REAL country if you so desire.  Its awesome there, you can see the tangible results of your actions in my REAL country, and I will tell you that nothing that you accomplish in this country will compare to the REAL accomplishments you can make in mine. My journey here was only to see what my wife saw in this country, but so far I have yet to see what she sees.  I hope I didn't waste your time with this street discussion, but I guess that doesn't really make any sense in this context. Hope you all have fun in YOUR country, but I'm going back to my REAL country not this IMAGINARY one that I tried to adopt and make my own. No hard feelings to all you PATRIOTS, but my REAL country has issues that I need to address. Peace.
