Boxing: Part Deux - The Mechanics Started by: JackMezzo on Mar 27, '21 12:14

Not necessary to read this entire thread to participate, it is just presenting the gameplay mechanics for those who wish to see them

This thread presents the mechanics and rules behind the Boxing: Part Deux events.

What it is:

A card game which allows 2 players to face off against each other in a boxing match. Players can buy a starter deck, then add better cards to it with Training Points accumulated from matches with other players.

Fights between players can be arranged through JackMezzo, who will offer a prize fund based on the level of the competitors. Level is determined by the "weighting" of your deck, as every card has a weight against it.

Fights can also be sponsored by other users who wish to contribute to a prize fund, or just wish to see two high profile fighters duke it out.

How it works:

  • A fight lasts 3 Rounds
  • Each players deck of up to 40 cards is shuffled by the referee and ten cards are distributed to each player from their decks, per round
  • Players send the referee the card they want to play each round, with the outcome decided by the type of cards played

Different card types reduce or increase Stamina. The player with the most Stamina at the end of the three rounds win, unless all Stamina has been depleted, in which case the player is knocked out.

Players each start with 10 Stamina, it is increased:

  • At the end of Round 1 by 3
  • At the end of Round 2 by 2

Resources:

This link takes you to the main Boxing Sheet.

Boxing Part Deux - Public - Google Sheets

Here you can see:

  • The Shop - where you can buy your first deck and supplementary cards
  • Card Matrix - where you can see the effects each card has on the other
  • Information tabs showing example fight sheet, player sheet and starter card lists

How to get involved:

Send JackMezzo $500,000 to purchase a starter deck, include a message of which deck you would like and trunks colour. I will then send your unique Player Sheet which will track your:

  • Level
  • Deck Weight
  • Deck List
  • Unused Cards
  • Wins/Fights

RolePlay Opportunities:

Each fight will be narrated by myself in a given Business District to reveal the outcome to the public. The final rounds or knockout can be narrated by the winner if they so desire, as to relish in their beatdown of their opponent.

And if you die...

There's no impact, I won't make you start over. Collection of cards may take too long to just throw it all away. We will change your boxer name to "Jr" and continue from there.

Any questions, please feel free to add below.

Thanks,

Jack

Admin access to all documents have been granted to Frances who has volunteered to keep this running for those invested in it.

She had access to all individual private fighter sheets to made modifications and can control the main sheet.

Thanks for everyone's support on this and good luck.

Changes to Boxing:

  • A Boxer can now visit "Off the Ropes" in the DT Business district and request training. Upon completion of the RP the Boxer will gain a buff/perk to be used upon their next fight. The buffs will match the type of training that is completed, such as weight training will increase your strength, giving you an additional +1 to any attack card.  For more information please read the thread in the streets
  • Booster sets are still for sale, can be found on the document Mezzo linked above
  • Your "Main Deck" may now hold up to 40 cards, but only 30 will be used in a fight. This means if you buy 2 booster packs and have 10 Dodge and hits, you could potentially have a whole round of just that
    • If you have 30-35 cards you can "hold" up to 5 cards, as long as the active deck is 30 cards minimum
    • If you have more than 40 cards, you need to have a minimum of 35 in your active deck at all times
  • You can now "Arrange" your deck for additional randomization. Copy and paste your deck from your sheet and mail me the updated order and I will amend it before your next fight
    • This can only be done once a week to avoid confusing the shit out of me
  • Betting is coming back an hour before each fight odds will be added to the schedule and to the thread that Angry_Goose has in the streets
    • Cash Betting will have a higher payout vs. credits
  • Prize pot now includes Perks as well as a credit payout from 5-15 per win
    • WE ARE STILL ACCEPTING DONATIONS FOR PRIZES

If you have any questions, please get in touch. Hopefully, this is clear and makes things more exciting/enjoyable.
