Mezzo Park Started by: Elle_E_Ott on Apr 12, '21 21:14

After a long day, Sera wanted to wander around a bit. A moment to clear her mind of anything that had gone on before. Nature had always been a soft spot for her. She felt at home whenever she was around water or trees. Finding Mezzo Park, Sera wandered over to the duck pond.

Sitting for awhile to watch them swim across the pond, and duck their heads under water. She watched in fascination. Wondering how they could have such care free lives as the world around them turned. So many people must come out here but she didn't see a soul.

Standing up, she gathered herself with a refreshed mind and headed back to her office.

Pete took a walk around the neighborhood and found himself at Mezzo's Park.  He walked around and took a seat on a park bench by a pond.  He closed his eyes and remembered Roxie.  He listen to the water moving and the birds chirruping.  The sound of her voice and his hand on her heart the touch of her soft skin and the thump of her slow soft heart beating.  He wanted to relax and clear his head he knew then that he needed a vacation or more work to get his mind off her.  What would he pay to see her once more, her smile and boldness was breathtaking.

Julius had bought the daily paper off a kid who was shouting "Extra! Extra!" profusely near the corner of Mezzo Park. The day was like no other in the motor city, the sky was clear and the air was fresh. As the sun beamed down onto the surface, Julius searched for a shaded area to enjoy his read. As luck would have it, he would spot a bench right next to an oak tree that would provide just enough shade for such enjoyment. He went over there and made claim of the bench.

Yakuza was set to meet some ole' friends from Tokyo, that were vistiing to discuss a new drug proposition. Yakuza, was looking to find new ways of making money and as the prohibition was coming to an end and drug use increasing here stateside, it made perfect sense to dabble into this risky business.

Yakuza, however, was hot on the radar of the local police, phones most likely tapped too.

However, he had to organise a place where we could these Japanese folks, somewhere open, somewhere safe, somewhere easy to find. Luckily, for him the perfect place came to mind. Mezzo Park, the benches! they were unique enough for a visitor to locate.

He took a walk in the park after drinking coffee at his fav-cafe to get his body reaction better before sleep, it was wonderful this evening visiting Mezzo Park, it was full moon tonight and the light from the moon really pointed out a good light in the park.

He got out and headed to his flat, sleepy was he and now he knew he woulkd sleep good as he often did.

Samantha steered CoolHandLuke towards the pond. A family of ducks could be seen moving towards some bread thrown their way. Life was good.

They ate some street food they had purchased and eased back on the park benches. People watching, yet really wanting to just stare at each other. Night was still young.

Mezzo Park!  Finally a place where the kits could just...  Well, be kits!  I mean, no one really yelled at them when they ran around other establishments...  But still.  Out here, they were completely free to do whatever it was that they wished.  It was this place that caused them to truly love their visits to Detroit.  They would enjoy the park no matter what time of day.  Morning, afternoon, evening...  Late night?  It really didn't matter at all to the small creatures.

Today they ran full tilt along a path, only slightly heedless of people enjoying it.  The larger of the two barreled past people, and sometimes right into them.  The smaller of the two would typically send apologetic sounding yips as she too raced by.  Just as the path curved, the smaller one, dubbed Lovely, launched herself at the larger, Little Man, and tackled him right into the grassy area beside.  The two rolled and tussled for a time before breaking apart and running again.  What had gotten into them?

They ran hard until Little Man would skid to a halt at the side of the pond.  Lowering his nose, he sniffed curiously at it, earning a reproachful quack from a nearby duck.  His head tilted in curiosity and he began to paw at the dark feathers that adorned her form as he wondered how she just bobbed like that.  Lovely watched on, casually wondering if her brother could catch it.  This muse was simply out of play, however...  They much preferred to dine on food that didn't elude them after all.

Flopping down on the pond side, Lovely watched what went on around her as her brother harassed the duck.

With a brown bag pulled with French toast, bacon, eggs, pancakes, fruit and Muffins, holding the kids hand while Seth was busily beating some thug or something in an alleyway  within an inch of his death... I was doing something more pleasant, relaxing for a change, patting down my left side to ensure my gun was still there incase anything happened..

Mezzo Park was a place most people attended for some grounding, perhaps even some inspiration to strive hustle better, be better. She had heard numerous things from vintage old Consiligeres and Don's speaking of how he shaped their lifestyle though those shoes were large to fill people followed on with his legacy. As much as I wanted to go on a tangent to Trinity of how special this park was, I wanted to show her not everyone is an asshole.

We made way to the pond to feed the ducks and have a lil more of a chat while enjoying some grub, the ground's were quiet  only a few passer-bys fitting in a jog, ahh perfect a bench... making our way over I placed the bag down to unpack the cardboard boxes of food to sample everything.

watching Trinity carefully cut some pancakes scooping up from  thoroughly enjoying the flavours, her eyes fell onto something  in the long blades of grass giggling confused.

"Freyja is that a fox? Over there basking in the sun?"

Quirking my brow only to see it was indeed the very same fox from the club earlier and her brother AzeriBikiak, whistling over to get their attention

"You two hungry?"

Legends come and go, whispers of history are passed around the world on the winds of change. Andraste was a woman of the Maker and her beliefs were strong, pure and she was confident in what was good and what was bad.  But when it came to certain legends she would cast doubt upon them but this was not one of the ledgends that had her questioning the source, or how factual it was. Andraste knew it to be true. And with the Maker's help she was able to sit in this park, gazing out upon the grass, the people and feel how special the ledgend was to people, even if it was over. The memories lingered like ghosts wandering the grounds, peeking into your life and leaving without anything other than a slight feeling of longing and that you've missed out on something truly magical, special or completely brilliant.

Andraste sat by the pond watching a flock of ducks, two parents and a gaggle of smaller babies. They floated gracefully along the water, occasionally the younger of the birds would splash a bit, flop, be silly and charming all at once. But without fail the Mallard would loop around, making sure the family stayed together, keeping his ducks in line, as it were. Andraste didn't have food to offer them, she knew they wouldn't come near her without it. But she was content to sit in the crisp Autumn air watching the family paddle around, a novelty in this world.

Four long pointed ears flickered in the direction of the cooing voice that at least one of them seemed to recognize.  Lovely looked over at once, her tail flicking just a tad as she glanced over to her brother still pawing a little at the water.  Little Man froze, mid swipe to look up at the kind voice and the bubbling giggle.  Both foxes stood straight, Lovely crossing over behind her brother to peer over at the two enjoying quite a few nice smelling things.  Noses twitching enthusiastically, the two picked their way through the long grass, bounding every so often, to get out some excess energy before approaching the two who simply came to enjoy the day.  They had similar goals.  Who wouldn't enjoy this place?  It was beautiful...  Warm and peaceful.

Curiously Lovely approached the picnicking visitors, one of which she recognized quite well, and the other that sounded friendly enough.  Little Man was a little more bold in his approach, coming bounding through the growth as his sister picked her way a little more carefully.  Now fairly hapless, the larger of the two ran right into Freyja's knee yipping in some slight surprise while Lovely approached the smaller of the two a little more carefully, watching her brother with some measure of caution.  The question as to whether they were hungry or not, was met with some small but eager yips.  The two of them were always hungry.

Pete returned to Mezzo Park, he had to have a sitdown with Abe a captain in the Purple Gang.   They were having issues with the Detroit Combination and Frankie Yale out of New York.  Pete knew Yale personally and he had ties to the Combination.  He had Carlos and Nails with him.  Abe came with six men as they walked up to Pete.  He told Pete that Yale hit their trucks just as they were making the delivery to the customer.  Abe lost two men and they had a card on them that connects the hit to Frankie.

Pete read about the hit when he was in New York.  Then Abe said the trucks were found here in Detroit.  It drop the contents to the Italians in Detroit.  They were selling the the booze in their speakeasys and talking shit about it.  Meyers said that he would talk with Charlie but never got back.  Abe said they stuck back yesterday and took three times the amount.  Pete looked at the sky and then looked at Abe and told Abe that going forward they needed to stand down He would ensure that the Combination takes a step back.  The issue is Abe started this and now they are holding Product that they shouldn't.  They gave a third of the product back and some cash to even the issues out.

There it was.. Her favourite place in the entire city. Mezzo Park. Sera was thrilled to finally have a moment to wander out. The sky was gloomy and the weather was getting colder but this place felt so freeing for her. Just somewhere she could get out and wander around. Clear her mind of all the thoughts that raced into it.

Zipping up her jacket, she wandered aimlessly for a bit. Eventually sitting on a bench to watch other people walk around. After spending hours this way,s he wandered back to the work she had put off for the day.

Amelia took a seat on her favorite park bench, balancing the box of doughnuts she had just purchased on her lap. The steaming hot cup of coffee was beckoning her, and so removing the lid she watched the steam rise and dance in the cool autumn air for a few seconds before bravely taking a sip. The pain was immediate, but so was the relief from having some caffeine in her system. Amelia felt her body start to relax, and as her eyes properly opened for the first time since her blasted alarm went off, she opened the box and selected a chocolate iced doughnut and started munching on it happily.

While chewing the delicious breakfast she had purchased, she realized what park she was in. The birds were chirping, which about seven minutes ago would have driven her insane, but now she appreciated the bright morning song being offered to her. Mezzo had been a bit of a legend, and while years had passed, his legacy lived on in this park. It was currently quite quiet, given the stupidly early hour of the morning, which means for once Amelia got to experince the peace and serenity that the place had to offer. Sooner or later the children of the neighborhood would wake, get ready for school and come tearing through here like the little obnoxious noise-makers they were, but for now, she was content with her birdsong, doughnuts and delicious coffee. AmeliaGato took another sip of her coffee and slid down a bit on the bench, perhaps a few more doughnuts and she'd be ready to face the day.

This was Sera's favourite spot in Detroit, Mezzo Park. It didn't matter what was going on for her, this was where she wanted to think it all over.  Anything good happen, she came here. Anything bad going on, this is where she came. Tonight she was carrying her flask, had on a heavy sweater and some pants. Tonight she would be out here for a  long time.

As she wandered over the path she thought of him. Her heart hurt to think of him tonight. Their relationship had been a little crazy, a lot messy and tonight she couldn't help but to be dragged back into those memories. He was rough, but oh how she loved it. Now she seemed surrounded by weaker men. Those who were not sure what they wanted from their lives let alone a woman.

A sigh of displeasure escaped her. Looking around, she noticed that no one was close to her. They wouldn't have heard it. So she continued down her path. Taking sips from the flask. The whiskey burned her throat but it warmed her. A fire began to grow inside her.

What queen needed a king anyways?

With those words spoken, she had made a decision. Her heart turned cold and she focused on her task at hand. Detroit.

Amelia had been moving about the country all week to ensure that everyone on her Christmas list was taken care of, regardless of of the weather in those cities. Gifts and trinkets had to be purchased, and unfortunately that meant she was away from home more often than not, and it was starting to wear the woman down. Another airport, another dining experience outside of her own comfortable home. Amelia was feeling less festive by the day and was ready for the season to be over.

Having checked out of her accommodations early she found herself walking around the city of Detroit, her suitcase packed with her spare clothing and the purchases she had arrived to make. So now, once again she was just waiting for the proper time to arrive at the airport and board her flight back to Nevada. During her walk normally her attention would be caught by a smell of delicious food, a friend's name on a building or just randomly picking a place to hide out in for a drink or two, but today was different. Snow had been falling over the course of the week and while the streets were now grey and brown sludge, the park she was near was practically pristine.

With the sun reflecting off the flakes she decided that she had been a responsible adult long enough, and she would have a bit of fun. Setting her suitcase on one of the benches after wiping the snow away, she surveyed the grounds of the park trying to pick the perfect spot. There was an area near a clump of trees, that were leafless and barren, and she marched her way through the snow, pulling her gloves on securely as she went.

Bending over she starting packing the snow into a slight ball, making sure it was a decent enough size before rolling it away from the area she had chosen. Around and around she went, pushing this ball as it got larger and larger with each rotation. Once it was the size of a boulder, she struggled to move it back towards the trees, which is when a voice called out, "Hey lady, whatcha doing?" and upon looking around Amelia realized a group of children had been released into the wild by their parents, and were all standing around awkwardly watching her.

"Haven't you ever made a snowman?" Amelia said to them, before gesturing them over. "Because it's time for you to learn if you havent!" she laughed as the kids let out a whoop, not often did adults join them in their play and antics, and rarely were they invited to join them. The sounds of the park changed from one woman huffing and puffing to a string of excited chattering, laughter and occasionally a scream or yell when a handful of snow was shoved down a jacket collar or a snowball landed particularly well. By the end of the day, the flight had been missed, fingers and noses were cold but a large grouping of snow-people were arranged in a half circle in the park, each one slightly more unique than the last.

Kamarile hasn't got her exercise in recently she had heard from different members of her family of a local park that has about one-half mile running path. She decided she would check it out today.  She headed down 12th Street and past the episcopal church, until she finds the Mezzo Park.  She took the one path and started jogging. She is a bit out of shape, so it was truly an easy pace. She loved seeing the other people walking along the path, especially the ones pushing the carriages with the babies in them. She continued jogging, she did 2 laps around that path. She figured it was better to start with just a mile before she wore herself out to much, and then wouldn't be able to get away from those coppers.

Kamarile then decides to head down towards the pond and look at the peaceful water. She needed a few minutes of relaxation to help clear her thoughts. Though after about 30 minutes in the cold, she decided to head back towards her vehicle. It is getting a bit to cold to continue sitting and relaxing.

Apollyon went on a stroll into the park after his quick meal, he sat down near a bench so the boys had seatings too and discussed with the lads his new role as a hand for Sato and what the future brings with it. It was a long haul discussion, when he received a phone call from the airport back in Chicago that someone had enquired about his details, he was given the name Taraji and it took him a few seconds but he rememberd it was his close friend (per-se) back from his college days.

The lady was kind enough to let him know that she had passed his details onto Taraji and that he'd be expecting a call/meet up with her soon.

That surely made Lorenzo's day and he was keen for this new part of his old life which had come into existence all of a sudden. He had really good memories of his time with Taraji and all the mess ups they used to do and the havoc they caused in college.

Stefan sat down and started people watching, he could see children running around playing games and couples holding hands.

Stefan sat back in the seat and continued to drink his can of cola which he had bought earlier in the day, the summer heat was coming down and everybody seemed to be enjoying themselves. Stefan continued to just sit back, people watch and enjoy the warm summers day.

Kamarile needed something to calm her down. It has been a very busy couple days. She has more business to attend to today but she has a few minutes to relex, so she decides to stop by Mezzo ParkKamarile isn't used to getting nervous, but after the Party for the Godfather, and meeting with TommyVercetti, it almost just been to much. She likes to be in the background just watching what everyone is doing, and making sure she doesn't make their mistakes. She decides to walk the little path here, and she sees some oak trees, and pine trees.

It is starting get close to spring but there is still a chill in the air. Kamarile decides she will zip up her coat and pull out her gloves. She isn't going to let a little thing like cold air make her stop the few minutes of relaxing she gets today.

She continues on and she heads up to the pond. She pulls out a piece of bread and tosses it to the ducks. It only takes them a couple minutes to gobble what little she brought down. Most quack at her for more but still keep their distance. However this one, little mallard comes right up to her and starts pecking at her feet, she takes a couple steps back, and it follows her. If she pauses even for a second it pecks at her foot and her legs. She keeps moving away from the pond.

Kamarile starts to think this trip to the park isn't going to be she keeps backing up away from this determined little duck. She soon comes to an incline that she starts to turn around and starts the climb. Next thing she knows the back of her heels are being pecked, so she tries to speed up but it keeps coming. She is an animal lover but this one is making her really upset, its little beak hurts, and it will not leave her alone. Once up to the top of the hill she takes off running and then when she thinks she has gotten far enough away she turns around and looks.

There isn't just that one Mallard, but there is about 3 of them, about 3 American Wigeons, and several other types of ducks behind them. She has decided this trip has been anything but relaxing and runs the rest of the way to her car. Once inside the car she turns and looks at the ducks, sticks her tongue out and heads out of the park. That will be the last time she feeds those crazy creatures.
