A slim, haggard looking woman jumps up onto a nearby set of stairs in front of a Los Angeles Bank, dressed in a pair of pants ripped at the knees, an oversized trench coat and a small handbag. She waits for a moment before whistling to gain the attention of a group of rather young, nervous looking citizens, beckoning them towards her. Your attention is drawn forward to the crowd as well; though you were in a hurry to be elsewhere you couldn't resist the occasional speech made in the Streets. "Hello there!" she calls in a bright, husky voice, a grin crossing her face. "Forgive me if I'm wrong, but you lot seem new around here." She gains a few hesitant nods from a nearby young man and with an even broader smile she grabs him by the sleeve of his tattered jacket and pulls him up onto the steps with her. "Well young man, let me be the first to say welcome! I know you must be slightly confused and feeling a bit lost, am I right?" The young man clears his throat and replies in a meek voice, "Well actually, no, I-" "Just as I suspected!" the woman cut him off loudly. "Well young man, have no fear! I am here to help guide you through these first crucial moments of your adventure in this world. My name is Kendra, and what I have for you here today is... erm... well..." Kendra trails off as she digs through her handbag, finally letting out a small "Aha!" as she pulls out an aged and beaten looking book. "Right! As I was saying! What I have for you here today is this!" With a flourish she hands over the book to the young man who blinks at it several times in confusion. "Er, open it up..." the young woman whispers urgently as the boy opens the hard backed cover and begins to peruse the pages. "Now this book is actually a project my Grandmother had been working on when her life was ended abruptly. My mother picked up the reigns briefly, almost finishing it to completion, but never got the chance to showcase it in public. With the newest batch of civilians, like yourselves, flooding our shores here in America, I took it upon myself to finish what the two women had started and present it to you- the (sotto voice) Mobsters of tomorrow!" She begins to pass out several leaflets of paper and more copies of the book around the small gathering. "As you will see this is what I like to call a '48 Hour Survival Guide'. While it does not highlight as much information as the fabled Mafia Bible itself does, it will give you a clear outline of things you, the newest members of our society, should remember to survive those first initial forty-eight hours of life here. Once again, my family's intentions were not to undermine the work put into our world's Bible- merely to outline the important things for new blood." Pausing briefly she smiles sweetly and wags her finger at a nearby woman with outstretched hands. "No, I will not give you loans or any other monetary advantage in this world. I am merely here to dispense advice and wisdom passed down from generations of my family line." Kendra nods and grins at the crowd once more, passing a booklet towards you with a "How do?" before bustling back forward to the top of the stairs. "Well that's everything from me, then. If you have any questions you can contact me via the postal system or in the coffee shops. I'm always here to help! For now, the first steps to success are up to you!" With a grin she saunters off down the road, holding her handbag closer. You turn your attention downwards to look at the book in your hand. Raising an eyebrow you open the cover and begin to read the first page of "Kendra's Guide to 48 Hour Survival". |

A mafioso's career lives and dies on its Oral ability. The Key factor its effective use on the right people. Sooner young un's are made aware of that the better, glad to see you wish to pass on these skills for the bettering of our world on a daily basis. Good work Kendies. |

Dominick, i'm glad you stuck around and made a name for yourself. Keep up the good work. Kendra, this guide is awesome. I'm sure a lot of civillians will get some good use out of this. At least I hope they will. Also, i'm here to help anyone who needs it as well. |

Thank you all for the congrats and the overwhelming amount of support! I thank those who have offered to help out as well. Perhaps shortly we can turn this "guide" into a small organization of mentors for those who need special help in understanding this world. ...Not that I want to baby every newcomer to these shores. We all got knocked around a little in the beginning, so it's only fair if they have the same shakes we did. Kendra winks and grins. |

Kendra, I respect you for taking time to help these new folks but in all honesty would you expect someone to come along and read this guide you've put together? I'm not slating you I'm just simply saying is it realistic to expect them to go through all that? I think it should be down to the Leaders and Right Hands to approach people, find out if they're new to this kind of life, if they are they should take them on board and see how they get on. If it seems that they aren't the type that pull their weight then let them know this, or give them the boot. |

I don't expect anyone to do anything with the information I present. That is all I merely do- present it to the new blood, or those whom I believe to be new blood, and let them do the rest. If they read it, great! If not, no sweat off my back, really. If the leaders want to take that step forward to reach out to the newer members of our world, then kudos to them. With how things have panned out in the past, however, it often times seems they are busier with running their own organizations. Everytime we get a large number of new civilians flocking off the boats onto our shores it seems that most of them only end up dead days later in their sleep, killed for treading in the wrong territory. I'm only just trying to be that individual to take that initiative and guide youngsters, much like other groups have done in the past. I'm willing to put that hand outwards in an attempt to impact people so that they don't lose their lives. If I only save two people, then so be it. That's two more mobsters that could end up changing the world tomorrow. |

| As I said full respects for starting this project I'm not trying to piss on your parade or anything like that, you have obviously put in a lot of effort into your work. However, as a right hand yourself, would you not feel it essential for our growth to maybe take time to speak to these newly arrived on an individual basis to help them out that extra bit more? | |

I did not take offense to anything you said, so no worries there at all Sir. I can understand that you have questions about the motives and workings of this little 'project' my family line has been working on. As it is, I agree that the newer civilians should be contacted upon setting foot on this shore. I'm also, as is probably normal in this world, a very busy woman. The best I have done thus far is to contact each fresh-faced mobster-wannabe privately, providing them with a copy of my guide as well as leave an open invitiation to ask any further questions. So far I've had the opportunity to speak with several people upon their receipt of my mailing, and I have even been contacted on IRC Avenue as well where I was thanked by a few young'uns helped by my book. Like I said before, I'm only human and can only do what I can in my spare time between work for my family and my own private life! Kendra gives a small laugh. |

| What are you talking about Tesler, why should leaders and rh have to prostrate themselves infront of mere civilians. Are we not trying to build a thing of respect here rather than simple hand outs and charity? Ableit a little long this is certainly a credit to the writer and I live in hope that those new to this life of crime will open eyes, read and act accordingly with the ways of old. | |

However for the sake of family growth perhaps it could be something to take into account, if not the leaders and right hands maybe even a representative of the family. "Are we not trying to build a thing of respect here rather than simple hand outs and charity?" You're right it's not about simply handing out invites like hot cakes, but some of these new arrivals may not have a scooby about what to do, yea sure there are the guides around about what to do and who to approach but when they get that far they also have to come up with some kind of impressive introduction in order to get them into a family and this is where some of these new arrivals are lacking. So I think it'd be in our interests to help them out a little more individually. Hearing their introduction isn't the only way to measure their respect. |

I would suggest that perhaps one of the many, many, staff employed by our Gods could make it their duty to contact the new folk upon our streets. They would be able to do so without any hint of bias and be able to advise any new civilians without any ulterior motives. |

That actualy sounds like a great idea Numbers4Glory one of the best sugested yet after all they are there to help but starting up in this world its not easy for people to know that. Maybe an Auto mail at the start which if replied to goes to the gods helpers and they take it from there? |

Yes, agreed they are the only ones with the true knowledge of who is in fact a new arrival and who is incognito and in hiding for reasons of their own. Good thinking, Batman :D Sorry to turn this into a semi-debate Kendra, it is drawing our focus away from your work. |

Haha, I don't mind one bit. It's good to hear other members of the community voice their concerns, praises or criticisms. As for the Gods of this world taking it upon themselves to sort out some sort of welcome package, I do think they like to interfere as little as possible, so it only makes sense if someone from our own way of life were to present it. I tried to make it as unbiased as possible, and as for ulterior motives I hardly had any. I'm just doing my best to make an effort to decrease the amount of names I see in the obits on a daily basis in the early-morning papers. |
