CP? Do I miss them? No idea - I wasn't alive then....I know that having read the journals of long gone relatives that I would have liked to have spent time chatting with the likes of Goliath and Deviant. The current regime? Well, there is lots I could say, plenty has been said already. It would seem, overall, that arguments are being repeated....it's just different people saying them from different sides of the argument. And as for comments about the big recruiting drive...this makes me ponder just one question - where the hell did things go so wrong? I know that there are currently a low number of people in this community - but since when did people start getting awarded Families...or "pretend" families just because there is no-one else around? I remember stories of a few years ago regarding a guy awarded a family - prior to this, the guy was a virtual fucking recluse, yet he was given a chance at going it alone - gives a lot of encouragement to those who are willing to make an effort, huh? And this is the kind of behaviour you are hoping will attract people into this thing of ours? |

I think the first stage in attracting new mafioso to our way of life, is to make our way of life, actually our way of life. I know I've repeated the same few words a couple of times there, but let me elaborate. Instead of focusing on the micro-issues surrounding our world, we should first make sure the macro-issues are dealt with. Micro-issues are things that affect individuals, like specific bloodline hunting, auths, positions and so on. The things that affect me, if you will. Macro-issues are things that affect 'MafiaReturns' or the community, like making money, operating outside the law, pulling jobs, and rising through the ranks. In essence, being a mobster. The things that affect us, if you will. What is it that actually comprises 'our way of life'? Is it Shawty being made a Captain? Is it CP being shot as and when they are found? Is it the 48 hour rule? Whilst these certainly come to matter in time, do they actually affect 'our way of life'? Our way of life, is a life of crime. It is joining a criminal syndicate and operating outside of the law. Power. Money. Respect. These are the fundamental aspects that lure civilians out of respectable 'mainstream' jobs and suck them into the dirty criminal underbelly of the six cities. At the moment, we are so wholly focused on the issues that affect some; we're ignoring those which affect all of us. If you came to our streets now, would you really sit back and think 'this is why I joined this business'? I honestly do not think you would. The balance between the two is wrong at the moment. The micro-issues are what keep you coming back, but it is the macro-issues that make you want to stay in the first place. They both have a significant role in our lives, but they both have to coincide, which in my opinion, they are not. I'm not sure how relevant to this discussion that is, or whether I've just coined those terms or stolen them incorrectly from somewhere else. Hopefully it made sense. |
