The War: My Perspective Started by: Marston on Apr 04, '12 22:02

Late last night I was approached by associates in my city informing me that I needed to attend a meeting immediately. Sensing their urgency I got in the back of the car and was taken to a coffee shop surrounded by bodyguards.

Inside was Godmother Clarity, Godfather Jack Pepper, Don Technical and several of their top men. The leaders of city of Las Vegas were also in attendance, it was a large body of men, something was definitely up...

A long discussion occurred, but the conclusion was this, the families of New Orleans and Philadelphia conducted a meeting the night before. Our inside source told us that the reason for the meeting was to arrange the eradication of Godmother Clarity and the families of New York and that the plan was to assassinate them that very night at 5am...

We don't know why they felt the need for this action... Clarity was a great leader and had built up an excellent city, in fact she done such a good job that there was an overspill of talent. She was able to send away many of their members to populate the city of Los Angeles, and giving it a strong foundation to build upon. It was probably because of the growing power that New Orleans were looking for any reason to attack. Several of Godfather Stamina's decisions in the past could only be explained by fear and paranoia of the progression in other cities. It was a detrimental attitude to have and made it difficult for other cities to progress as we saw in his experiments and forced partnerships that resulted in conflict.

There was no time to lose, we had to strike first, we knew the battle would be decided by who took the initiative and we were not going to let them take it. Our organisation was rapid and we didn't have the time to arrange a clean annihilation, but we had the tools to make a devastating blow…

Our bullets rained down, a spectacular show of force it was, making a crippling blow into New Orleans forces. But we knew it would wake the monster that was Stamina, who was sleeping with one eye open at this point. We were careful with our movements, knowing Stamina's prowess with the gun, we couldn't afford to sit out in the open and be picked off. Casualties were inevitable, but we didn't expect to lose our most skilled fighters. Maybe it was bad luck, maybe it was complacency but after the deaths of Clarity, Xiphos and Jordan we had to regroup and rethink our strategy.

At this point, the families of Philadelphia, sensing victory, decided to jump in on New Orlean's bandwagon, poor decision, as it ultimately sent his entire city to the slaughter, but we expected nothing less from Corbin. We sent a few hitmen to Philadelphia to do their worst, and in a short period of time his captain, his hands and all of his capable hitters were lying in pools of their own blood, and Corbin disappeared with his tail between his legs.

Not long after this we realised a family that were supposed to be fighting alongside us had turned traitor. It seemed Swagsauce hadn't heard of the saying "Bros before Hoes" and turned on his own city and collective force to join sides with his lover in New Orleans… How romantic! This didn't sway us, as all he brought to the fight were more bodyguards for us to shoot, so our focus remained on the main prize… Stamina!

Back in the thick of the action our main group of men were destroying the massive body of protection that Godfather Stamina had surrounding him. It was a tall order, it appeared that as one bodyguard was killed it was immediately replaced with another, but our warriors were fearless and continued to gun them down relentlessly. Eventually we hit a breakthrough, news spread that Stamina had less than 100 bodyguards on his payroll, meaning our top snipers were more than capable of taking him out. One of them stalked him undetected to the airport but was unable to get a shot away. But he watched as Stamina boarded a plane, and sent a quick message out to ensure that there were people waiting for him on the other side. As Stamina disembarked at his destination, a single round from a sniper rifle made its way past the remaining bodyguards and into the forehead of the late Godfather Stamina, killing him instantly.

We could now all let out a small sigh of relief, but the battle was not over and there was no time to rejoice. Their most talented hitter was downed meaning they had no-one capable of hitting the leaders among us, but our troops were still in danger from their remaining hitters so it was no time for any of us to rest yet. We carried on into the night; our remaining problems were Immortal, StripheCorelli, CorbinRussell, Swagsauce and Ladyfighter.

The priority at this stage was Immortal, she had fought bravely for her city all night and was still going. It wasn't long until we hit our target, another small sigh of relief, the finish line was in sight. We soon heard that Striphe was fighting in Los Angeles and also found out where CorbinRussell was hiding. We sent our hitmen to deliver the good news, who both reported back in quick succession with messages of success. An hour later there was only one woman left standing after Swagsauce was gunned down. Our shooters were tired, and didn't anticipate the epic last stand that was about to be put up...

She fought a very clever fight, and prayed on the areas where we were weakest. Unfortunately for us, she wasn't falling for any of our attempts to lure her in, and on a couple of occasions was just plain lucky to avoid our bullets. Morale was being sapped every time she pulled her trigger, she was in and out of her protection too quickly for the hitmen we had marking her, and we lost several of our good men who had fought hard throughout the night...

We banded together, we had to stop this now… We sent our best hitmen to cover her known hideouts across the seven cities, even I was sent to mark her hideout in Las Vegas. Everyone had the same brief, "watch every entrance and exit, finger on the trigger, and don't even blink!" I lay on the rooftop across the street watching every door and window on that side… Then I saw it, the muzzle of a long barrelled rifle emerged from a window, I raced into a position where I could see the shooter and fired my round, it struck her cleanly between the eyes. She managed to fire her own shot before she was killed and another of our troops lie dead in the street, but at least he would be the last, god rest his soul!

The battle was finally over, some of us celebrated, some of us finally slept, but we all breathed a huge sigh of relief that we had survived the epic battle. Many good men and women from our cities were now dead, and it was now time to pay our respects, before moving on and rebuilding the fine cities in their honour...

Clearing up the final bits of his father's funeral, having finally laid him to rest, TM steps out on the streets, seeing Marston go on about his point of view.

This was well titled as from, YOUR view. Seeing as how several of the details are, well, flawed. But that's fine, I wouldn't expect you to know al the goings on in your rival's cities, it's more than understandable. But I'd like to start here.

At this point, the families of Philadelphia, sensing victory, decided to jump in on New Orlean's bandwagon

Now, Philly had NO intentions of joining this fight, especially since N.O. seemed to be capable on their own. It wasn't until the first attempt on my father's life, and the loss of 2 other members of Corbin's crew in Philly, that they got involved. There was no bandwagon jumping at all, Philly was dragged in.

We sent a few hitmen to Philadelphia to do their worst, and in a short period of time his captain, his hands and all of his capable hitters were lying in pools of their own blood, and Corbin disappeared with his tail between his legs.

Is a "few hitmen" the 8 individuals that my father was alone responsible for slaughtering as they tried? Grant it, he wasn't Philly's most capable hitter, but it took his enemies a fair minute and the loss of a fair amount of lives just to get to him. As for the hands in Philly, my father, before he died, was able to give me quite the account of how Corbin's right hand REALLY died. Don't try to fool everyone into thinking that Rizzle died by your hands when in fact it happened as a 1% shot from one of his protectors.

Shaking his head, TM turns to walk back away having heard enough of the bragging.

Marine, there is no need to be angry, Mr. Marston was just detailing his point of view in the last war. Some of what he said actually might have been the truth. Some might have not been, but in the end it was he and his allies that won the war.

Obstacle stops to hear more details about recent events and hears negative things about his predecessor's employer

Now, I understand it's your opinion and all, sir, and I respect that, but from an outside point of view it seems you're casting CorbinRussell in a rather negative light. Now, my predecessor wasn't a big part of the war and didn't leave many journals outlining the particulars, so could you indulge me and go a bit more in-depth to the following paragraph?

At this point, the families of Philadelphia, sensing victory, decided to jump in on New Orlean's bandwagon, poor decision, as it ultimately sent his entire city to the slaughter, but we expected nothing less from Corbin. We sent a few hitmen to Philadelphia to do their worst, and in a short period of time his captain, his hands and all of his capable hitters were lying in pools of their own blood, and Corbin disappeared with his tail between his legs.

Thanks in advance for clearing things up.

The truth is Macdre's family from Philly was never involved really both Immortal and Clarity had sent requests for them not to join which they agreed.   In my opinion is someone wanted to chalk up a few kills to thin the ranks a little more when these people were offline(as they allegedly joined this fight whilse sleeping).  In regard to Corbin and Macdre, from the last communication logs there was no communication between them either when Corbin stepped into the war and then went back to his house to relax.

I can understand joining a war to protect your own as seems the perrogative for corbins family following The_Marines statement, but such events are best planned well.

Catriona had attended the funeral of TM's father, and was heading to a nearby bar to take a quick drink. On her way, however, she heard a rather loud voice speaking his thoughts on the war. Whilst she understood that history is written by the victors, Catriona felt that certain facts had been blown out of proportion, particularly with regards to her mother's former home city, Philadelphia.

I'm not here to try to disrespect nor discredit you Martson, but I cannot sit by in silence and hear the name of CorbinRussell called into question. My mother's journals showed that Corbin was a fine and well respected leader within her city, and her final words were that she, and many of the other of Philadelphia, were happy to die for him. I wasn't there while the war started, but I am prepared to stake my faith in TMs account. If Philadelphia was attacked, my mother would have been glad to die for the city, win or lose. And IF Corbin made the decision to go into war, she would have felt exactly the same. History is written by the victors, we all know that. But whether my thoughts are taken seriously or not, I would not like to sit here and listen to words which paint someone who was an excellent leader, mentor and friend to my mother spoken without calling them into question.

Report Post Tip

One part further i will also mention, as none of Corbins upper structure were on as the war started, members such as Hot Lips appoached Macdre's RHM and Macdre seeking advice on what to tell their crew and were told to stay out.  As Macdre was out of town(in work), it would of been tactically inept to join a war with just one gun online.

Report Post Tip

Pie_Eater, this is also very true, when the war started a few members that were awake, sought advice and were all advised to leave it be because Philly had no plans to throw our hat in. Shortly after that my father was shot at, and he and Corbin agreed to write it off as an error and try to solve it after the war settled down, then two more members turned up dead. It wasn't until that moment that Corbin turned to his family and said, "Now we're involved."

Report Post Tip

Bull stops to listen to this war story and thinks back of his father and grandfather telling him of all the ppl metioned in this story!! I would have to say it was a very sad day as both sides lost alot!!!

Report Post Tip

"In all fairness, when did Stamina have the upper hand in the war? New York, Las Vegas, LA etc, always had the upper hand as they were the first ones to strike. Corbin stepped in because he was brought up and raised in New Orleans. Was he to ignore his old allies, just so he doesn't look like he was jumping on the bandwagon? He took a decision and stuck with it. He acted accordingly to his beliefs."

Dr Bunsen starts to convulse on the floor. After a few moments he opens his eyes and enters OOC mode.

You speak of Corbin running away with his tail between his legs. Perhaps I should clarify this slight bit of confusion for you. Corbin has a full time job and a son to raise. When real life comes a calling that should always come first, rather than some site. This is what he did and I don't think many other people would have done any differently.

Dr Bunsen falls back on the floor in a dramatic fashion and convulses once more. With a blinking of his eyes and removal of saliva from his chin, he once again stands up and begins to speak.

"Now before anyone takes notice of what I said and tries to mention it's sour grapes etcetra, I am probably the first one to acknowledge it was a well fought out plan by the other side. Taking the first strike is essential and this was executed with swift and bold movements. Kudos to the winning side."

Bunsen dips his head and leaves the discussion with his loyal Beaker by his side.

Some of these accounts of what happened are very skewered from where people where sitting as to be expected. I know Marston's view comes from the nerve center of the allied effort against New Orleans. As does mine. Even coming from the same place views can differ.

First let's start off by wiping away the notion that Philadelphia was in any way an innocent bystander from the start. They had already thrown their hats in the ring for the attack on New York and the allied effort had every reason to target them as well from the start. However no one in the allied war effort had any delusions about their power verse that of New Orleans. We were very aware that it would take everything we had to take Godfather Stamina down and any chance we could avoid having Philadelphia join in had to be attempted.

Now as to what really happened, the allied effort unleashed the first wave of the assault. Immediately after one of the heads of the allied effort contacted Corbin's right hand man to request he keep his city out of the war. Corbin's Right Hand Man, Rizzle_Kicks, had long been known as a stand up guy who was capable of putting his city first even above his friendships so the allied leaders were willing to take the chance that he would make the right choice for his city and initially he did.

Rizzle, as you would expect from someone with such a solid reputation, held true to his word until his leader Corbin arrived. It was then with great regret he informed us that Philadelphia would be entering the war. Now I disagree with my friend Marston when he insinuates that Corbin waited until he saw a chance that Stamina would win. I think he made the decision immediately upon arriving to help his friend and former mentor. I applaud his loyalty to the man who authed him however I would argue that he should have shown responsibility to his city first much like his Right Hand Man did.

Now I understand that things in our lives that take away from our attendance in the seven cities. I wouldn't suggest that those responsibilities should take a back seat to this thing of ours but I will say, as the leader of a city, your first concern should be to your city and if your responsibilities outside of the seven cities will make it nearly impossible to allow you to have enough of an impact to turn the tide of the war then it only reinforces the notion that Philadelphia never should have entered the war.

As for MacDre's crew, it's nothing short of lunacy to suggest that the head of the allied efforts should have left their crew alone when the head of his city had committed to the war on New Orleans side. It's even more crazy to suggest when you consider that there was never any communication from MacDre's group to the allied leaders that would suggest that he would not bring his crew into the battle. Though even if they had, I assure you that the allied leaders would not have taken that chance. When Corbin decided he was in the war all of Philadelphia was added to the list to be killed and prioritized appropriately.

Report Post Tip

The two deaths from the city of Philadelphia were in fact, an inactive earner and a made man... In both cases I have no idea why or how they died but they certainly weren't targeted by our collective force. This is when we received word that Corbin himself had shot VenomousBlackBeetle. Had he jumped to conclusions and assumed these deaths were our doing? Had members of our family mistakenly shot them? We don't know the answers to those questions, because no-one from Philadelphia made an attempt to discuss it, instead they jumped to action. But I ask you this... Do you honestly think that if Philadelphia was our target we'd have killed these two?!

Unfortunately as ruler of the city, everyone in it pays the consequences for his decisions. This includes MacDre's family who although might have known nothing of Corbin's actions or intentions, we're still under his command and therefore payed the price.

Is a "few hitmen" the 8 individuals that my father was alone responsible for slaughtering as they tried?

No, none of the fine men your father were shot were hitmen, but god rest their souls they were damn fine members and brave warriors! And I'm sorry, but... Who is the one bragging?!

Report Post Tip

First I'd like to address Donnie, you refer to the "nerve centers" and I don't claim to know what had happened in the nerve center over there. But my father was sitting there when it happened, and over the course of time Corbin said several times that we were not involved, even having an attempt on my father's life. They still waited, when two more men died, he finally got involved. Philly tried with all their best to stay neutral. Now I ask, knowing that a war was going on, would you as a leader stand by and risk losing more men and women to it trying to remain neutral? Or stand up and defend the rest of them with everything you had. I'm sorry, but it seems to me that he made the best choice in the interest of his family.

Now, back to Marston's remarks, I will go as far as to say they were targetted by somebody who wanted Philly involved, 3 incidents that were reported BEFORE Corbin and his crew stepped up to help. No way of knowing how many other attempts from those who died in their sleep. Mine when it was just an attempt we could all write off as an isolated incident, but 2 more successful hits, I find that hard to pass off as just another day. I'm not going to stand here with accusations but I'm not going to ignore the fact that it could have been anyone in the cities allied against N.O. especially seeing how random members who held no powerful gun, and had in fact been sleeping for a time were dropping before the active awake members that were shooting back.

As far as bragging takes it, I was simply stating facts, nothing more. And though bragging may have been a poorly chosen word, I will admit, with bringing my would be boss into question in the way he was, it was about the nicest word I could find.

Report Post Tip

Well as Marston pointed out earlier there was never a shot assigned on a Philadelphia target until Corbin shot VenomousBlackBeetle. I do not know what Corbin's intentions were first hand. If you say he wanted to stay out of it I'm willing to accept that. If you say Corbin was shot at and two member of Philadelphia killed I will accept that as well as I don't have any information to the contrary. Corbin's reasons for joining the war matter not to me or anyone else who were calling the shots in the war. I would, however, suggest that he had alternative courses of action he could have taken such as contacting someone...anyone from the allied forces. He made no attempt to communicate with any of us to either confirm that he wished to stay out of the war or that shots were taken into Philadelphia. No matter what the reasoning he lead his city to slaughter that could have been avoided.

Report Post Tip

Donnie Now not to disrespect you but Members of Philly where turning up in the Orbits way before VenomousBlackBeetle was killed. Reading my deceased step fathers diary he prayed that it was not someone from the alied side that had decided to fire those shots. And at the time the late CorbinRussel was not walking the streets, it was not long after that Corbin exited his HQ and decided that he would throw his hat into the ring so to speak.

Report Post Tip

Mr Flannery... This has already been covered, there were only two deaths from Philadelphia before they jumped into action and it was not proven that they were killed by anyone from our forces. These two men were Gerbert and TonyAlacchi, fairly insignificant... I'm sure you'll agree.

Report Post Tip

Insignificant? Marston, again, not to try and sound disrespectful, but I think a better choice of words might have been in line. For one, to speak so ill of the dead is just plain disrespectful, and for another, there is no such thing as insignificant to a good CL. For one, that made two less members of Corbin's family thus softening him up for a later attack, and everyone who is anyone knows that the more members your family holds the better your defense will be against would be assassins. So, insignificant? I am inclined to disagree.

Also, I'd like to point out that though those were the only lives taken pre-emptively by whatever force it may have been, they were not the only one's attempted.

Report Post Tip

What I was saying is they were insignificant deaths given the events that were occurring, which they clearly were... Is their any logical explanation as to why these two men would be purposefully targeted by us? No there isn't, and that's why they weren't...

Yes, every member is important to a crew leader, that is why Corbin should have investigated these deaths, rather than make a rash call that would result in every member of his city lying dead. However, from what I have heard the reasoning of Philadelphia's involvement was nothing to do with these deaths, on the contrary to what you first said.

Report Post Tip

Of course every member is important,That is why when that consig jumped ship to you a while back and Chade was'nt inpressed and did'nt feel a blood oathed member was struting around and got a promotion out of it you got your brains blown out by RoRoG.Or when you were leaking HS info to Sho when he was being shot at after the NY fall. But yet your so quick to throw down Swags name or whomever. You break unwritten codes/and rules all the time.

Report Post Tip

Well see, that's where I'm a bit confused, to still call them insignificant, to refer to a Made member of ANY family as "insignificant" in any way is beyond me. Given the events that were occuring? You're right, a massive ass war was occuring, and for ANY member of a neutral crew to be taken out, let alone made members, during a war, that hardly seems insignificant to me. It seems to me like the war was coming to Philly either way, and as you said, best to strike first and such...given the intel we'd gathered, because regardless you what you believe, there was investigating done, from the first attempt on my father's life on through the rest, and a friend of mine who will remain nameless at the time informed us that it was IN FACT L.A. that took those shots, whether sanctioned by the heads of the alliance or not, that was what we discovered, and if this was in fact the case, it takes a somewhat trained gun to wipe out a made member of a family...am i to believe that a CL would not be keeping good track of their trained gunmen?
