While I agree the whole realism thing is lacking here, your right we can't co troll what people do OUTSIDE OF THE GAME, however this forum is INSIDE of the game. And using Durden spawns as an example to justify it is missing the point because Durden spawns create an opportunity for someone to build a character and make change happen should they want it to happen. This game cannot become a world where someone logs in buys a ton of credits and puts 0 effort into doing anything yet somehow still calls the shots because they bought something of value to the player vs the character

It is not off limits to use the forum though. People will find ways to get the change they want and it's always been said if you don't like something then do something about it.  If people have the gun, often they rogue. If they have money, they use that. If they want to use the forum and make it a credit crowd fund then I don't see it as any different than using the means you have at your disposal to enact the change you want to see. 

At what point does offering something of value cross the line to impact the game? Sure credits are used in the game but they have value that can be converted to IRL currency as you can see people have profiles selling them for IRL currency. Non-rp talk about the games means the character itself isn't the issue it's the player. That's what's different here because the hitlist is about the character not the player.

I guess I don't see this as much different than crowd funding durden spawns which happens without complaint. The only difference is it allows multiple people with a grievance against said player to decide if they want to help with the cost or not.  People used to be purged regularly which was an attempt to stop rising up and if people feel it happens here and there still, this is one method they can get around it I suppose. 

I think what is perhaps a better question is if people are fundraising are you absolutely sure someone will take up the offer? Those 500 mil combined hits were up for awhile and no one took those up. People can crowd fund all they want but you still need someone willing to take the shot at the end of the day.

That's the point I'm trying to make, no character wanted to take the shot but offering credits was an offer to players. Removing the character from the equation. And offering something of value that is known to be sold for IRL cash. This game revolves around the ability to seperate character from player but this particular thread was created by someone who can't do that.

Do you know they can't do that? Maybe the character that was targeted did something to the person on this current character of theirs. I know quite a few people with grievances to the character in question. While they remained alive that would make it a character issue no? Now if it still moves to their next character I would concede you were right. 

People offering rl money outside the game would be the same as offering credits inside the game. You can't control one why are we trying to control the other? And if you did manage it for some reason it doesn't stop people again using outside methods to arrange the same. At least in the forums you know for sure and aren't just paranoid about it. 

We can control it if they post In game though that's what your missing. If they used means outside of the game that would be 100% different but they didn't do that.

Can you force people not to use the forums? I'd be interested if admin would allow that as they seem to be here for a reason. 

Forums have titles and this forums title is "Non RP talk about the game (AKA OOC)". So they are using this forum and this thread to speak OOC this making their hitlist player vs character. And yes admins do police what gets posted in forums and where the fuck did I say I would stop people from using forums? Use them by all means but use them for the appropriate topic, I'm sure even admins would agree here because if something doesn't belong in a forum they move it or delete it

TTD, I do not think that we are going to fully agree on this.

I will say this that perhaps there was a creative way to come up with a story or an RP of sorts to crowd fund. That is always a possibility but when OOC at times addresses stuff happening in the game, sometimes the lines can bleed over. I don't think that necessarily means that it is player instead of character all the time. I know for some it was character related and based on the character, but I can't speak for everyone. Some players make a lot of enemies fairly fast and maybe some of it is the player vs player rather than the character itself. Some people hold grudges, some don't after the character is dead. 

Maybe we are both right, but until we know the numbers of people involved and their own thoughts we won't really ever know. 

At the end of the day people are going to use whatever means they have to get their goal done I suppose. That seems to be the nature of the game. 

The irony is what stands out most. You accuse us of complaining then write a mini essay about how much our opinion bothers you. If disagreeing with and/or discussing a game mechanic is "having a cry" then by your own definition your replies are just one long tantrum.

It also feels like you’ve confused discussion with distress. Pointing out potential consequences of a mechanic isn’t the same as being upset by it, even if it’s easier to dismiss it that way.

That's because what you said had no bearing on the discussion at hand. The issue at hand is an extremely fine line and if you want to sit there and say these people are "having a cry," you do not understand how cause and effect work. I am also not explaining it to you either because I can understand what's going on. I could guarantee that you read all this 1000 more times and you still wouldn't get it.

There’s a lot of dialogue here. It’s thought provoking for sure - but at the end of the day - it is what it is.

Ive been around long enough to experience stretches in this game where few to none are putting in more work than me. The credits have always been there and just because I don’t choose to gamble or spend exorbitant amounts on creddies - it put me at a disadvantage to those who do who weren’t necessarily putting in the work.

This is nothing new, nor is bloodlining. They have both historically been allowed.  It comes down to being careful who you fuck with - long term. It has consequences. When you fuck with the wrong person (in this case - Madness) very irritating things can happen. 
 

I’m going a little off topic here - but I will say that over the last couple of years I’ve noted a shift in the community to the point where we hold onto previous characters actions much longer and harder. It’s nearly impossible to be a part of something that wasn’t established multiple generations ago. This has driven a good lot of people away from the game. Izzy can’t code this in. This is up to us as a community. We can all do a little better at working with those who are here and trying to engage.
