Is this Justice or is this Madness? Started by: Meerkat on Jun 27, '26 20:16

I'm not weighing my opinion on the credit situation this post is mainly about because I see the point of view of both sides and can't say one is right or wrong. I don't think the Bjorn situation was interpersonal. I think it weighed more as a character to character situation, but I wasn't around to form a proper decision on it and haven't really read enough of the posts to have a full perspective.

Drunky, I would have to say your last point is fairly on topic from how I've seen everyone act within the streets and ooc since I started here in November 2025. It seems as though there are people letting go of things per character death and others that seem to refuse to do so. It's an interesting tension to me because I want to see these generational player to player issues resolved for us to enjoy the fact this is a mafia game and you can be killed without much reason nor warning. I have a few replies throughout some threads on the streets calling for this. RP should really be the forefront to a wack or a character going rogue. I.e: Enricho rages on a CL, was completely out of line and came off threatening = Enricho gets wacked

The issue, in my eyes, tends to lean on the retaliatory side of things from what I can tell. A decision gets made, someone doesn't like it personally and lashes out, personally. It then can expand into multiple characters of theirs. I've seen a massive shift into trying to eradicate this type of mentality, but we are all people with our own emotions at the end of the day and that can end up causing interpersonal feuds no matter how hard you try to keep them away from this space. To circle back to the Bjorn situation, I think it weighed more as a character to character issue from the things I've read.

All I can really say is to let go of this lineage mentality unless you can actually incorporate it in your roleplay instead of shoehorning it like it matters (especially to a new player) somehow. There's a quote I don't remember fully from when I joined TruceFather: you are for the crew and not your friendships.

That meaning started making light once I realized people were using their characters to enact personal grievances. It's petty and makes things less fun than, oh.. idk.. EIkmilk hated Enricho because their personalities clashed and warned him there would be others who'd hate Enricho. It opens the door for future roleplay encounters without making it an interpersonal encounter. EIkmilk and I actually talked about this too, we purposely made this dispute for roleplay. For instance: EIkmilk's current character could find Enricho Skipping Through the Streets at Midnight and feel like smacking Enricho upside the head with a bottle. The thing is, the RP door was already open for him to be able to do that without making it a person to person issue. PLUS it's an established RP agreement.

No matter how hard we, as a community, try to snuff these types of issues out, there will be times it's more common. The saying I use constantly: "Enricho only has friends!" Means more than the RP side: I, personally, will not bring a personal issue into this game. I'll work it out with the party that matters. It's also why I purposely treat each new character name as a new character without ties. My closer MR friends make me aware of their previous characters, but that's only for personal moments in closed conversations where we aren't RPing our characters. I included this in #main. I may know who you were, but if I go into a roleplay moment for a joke, Enricho doesn't know.

The simple way I can put that: I know who you are, but Enricho does not. I keep it that way, and so should everyone else.

(I reread this like 8 fuckin times so I hope it makes sense lolol)

I will say that over the last couple of years I’ve noted a shift in the community to the point where we hold onto previous characters actions much longer and harder. It’s nearly impossible to be a part of something that wasn’t established multiple generations ago

This may have been true previously, but certainly not for the last year. Anyone who has acted in good faith on their current character has been given the benefit of the doubt and allowed to achieve as much as they desired all the way to Godfather in some cases. The real ideology which needs to change is placing OOC friendships ahead of those of the current character. Once that mentality shift occurs, there is no closed shop.

Lots of good discussion about all kinds of things here, but to go back to the original topic I think it’s clear that public credit hits should not be allowed.

“The hitlist only has an option to post hits for money/cash not credits, so this thread was no different to putting a hit on the hitlist just with the games other form of currency.”

This seems like the main argument in favour of OOC credit hits and is just clearly totally wrong?!

Did Bjorn have the option to buy Meerkat’s hit off?
Did Meerkat lose his 1000 credits when Bjorn retired?
Did Meerkat have to meet any requirements at all to post the hit, even the most basic one of having the funds?

This is just a loophole to the rules of the hitlist and the changes made over the years that have been implemented specifically to keep it balanced. Surely players trying to use the in-character mechanics and currency of the game should not be disadvantaged compared to those who aren’t.

While I think that hitlists are shitty, and I don't respect them, I don't see why a user should be limited to using simply the in-game hitlist feature... I have had actual RL cash been offered for my demise. There's no way to curtail that.

To answer your questions

1. No, he didn't. He could've tried to talk to Meerkat, and maybe shift the blame on NY for purging him out of Bjorn's crew, but that's about it. He could've offered to pay Meerkat to stop, but that would've been mad pussy.

2. No.

3. No, but other people could place hits for him (No, I didn't).

I think that hitlists are weak. I like organic killing. I like look you in the eyes as they go blank kinda shit. I like revenge, murda, gansta shit. But at the end of the day. Meerkat paid a big price for Bjorn to die; he will pay at some point. People do not forget things like that. So, he'll have to eat that when it comes back on the backswing. I'm sure he made some enemies who'll kill him again and again or try to. Some people call that bloodlinin' brotha.

I've personally hunted down people that have hitlisted me or my friends. Murdered them, their families, their childrens, their homies and homies' children, all slit throats, playa. Glade bags and trash binned. They've paid for it in not only money and credits, but also the destroyed time and effort on their accounts. Again, some people call that bloodlinin' brotha.

This game is one of bloodfeuds, OOC relationships, and murda. I would not try to curtail that, even if I think hitlists are a cheap way of getting revenge. Bloodfeuds and OOC relationships are the bonds that keep us going and playing. What else you been clickin' for?

But Bjorn was not shot at or killed by the hitlist itself. He killed himself, and ran away like a wimp. As others have pointed out, he could've let a friend at least have the money or something... If he hadn't have killed himself, maybe someone random would've done it for the money, but so what.

Who wanted Meerkat dead? They got away with it. Bjorn just got the heat for the kill (and died like a sucka). Yet, y'all be avoidin' that and whinin'.

This is hugely relevant. MajorAnkleBiter was shot by organisation to catch the witness statement and Madness decides to focus on the person who vouched for him, while those who shot him sit by laughing. Now that's MADNESS and laughable and damn right embarrassing.

The topic at hand regarding the hit list- Grin is God.

Worryingly, I'm not convinced you recognize the distinction between OOC and RP anymore based on that latest offering, Spikey. That said, I've no interest in repeating the same shit with you in a different place, so I'll leave it at this, believe it or not, some of us adults log in to enjoy the game and be social, not maintain an Excel spreadsheet of imaginary grudges.
