The Chicago Experiment Started by: Marston on May 28, '12 23:24

I have one Question. Its nice to have the 35 days old rule but I here there is this clinic called demotion that does wonders on making you look younger. Will these people be allowed to participate in this experiment surely the advantages they would have on their guns will make it unfair aswell.

Report Post Tip

Usually demotion is for Bodyguards, in that case they will probably have so many that they aren't able to participate anyways.

I'm sure if someone tries to do this soley to look younger they'll be caught.

Report Post Tip

This is an interesting idea that we've seen before. I look forward to the show that will inevitably come. Good luck to all of those who choose to participate.

Neon popped up next to The Red Guardian and smiled. Tilting her head to the right she gave him a soft giggle.

"Well, you see, sir. The rule states the persons "original" start date. If you are demoted then that isn't your original start date! Does this help answer your question?"

Neon put her hands behind her back and swayed back and forth waiting for his response.

Report Post Tip

1.) Nobody over the age of 35 days old may join the competition as a leader, hand or crew member. This means from their original start date.

I can understand the reasoning for this once the competition is underway. As others have pointed out, this prevents people from training their gun whilist they have no threats to themselves (As they would have if they were set up)

However, it seems a little unfair during the start of the competition. I myself am only a couple of days past the 35 day mark, thus excluded from participating. Though, someone just a couple of days younger than me has that option. Nobody knew this was going to happen, thus nobody could unfairly train their gun.

I understand I have have no say in any of this. I respect the rules of the competition, and will not complain.

Report Post Tip

Given the recent wars we have seen over the last month or so, I would say the 35 day rule probably just excludes quite a few more people than you would imagine.

Adamine, I would say that the rule becomes distorted once the competition is underway if anything. The earlier entrants will have had more time to adapt to their new city when anyone new enters.

I wouldn't say that anyone has had the chance to unfairly train a gun or been declined that option though, people are probably training at the same pace that they would have been had they known about the chance that would have cropped up. That is, if they were giving their all to their city already?

All that aside, I thouroughly look forward to seeing Chicago operating in whatever capacity that may be. We saw Las Vegas breed two leaders such as PoisonousJelly and DeadlySin, only time will tell who pospers from the new opportunity like others elsewhere.

Sephiroth makes his way to the front of the crowd…

Quite interesting if I do say so myself, and will admit that it’s a sweet offer to pass up. But if was not for a few couple special friends, I may have blessed this mess with my presence. Per say if it was like how the last experiment started out, who am I to say the same will happen, or not.

I wish everyone who enters this experiment the best of luck, and may the best man/woman win.

Sephiroth takes his que and gives the crowd a nod and disappears back into the crowd.

MostHated walks into the room with a surprised look on his face.

I find this pretty interesting. I havnt been playing as long as many in the game have, but do I still stand a chance?

MostHated takes a step back waiting for an answer.

Report Post Tip

Everyone stands a chance mosthated, that's the beauty of it. You've got your gun and your crew. You do the best you can and try and survive!

Report Post Tip

Adamine, hearing MostHated speak begins to walk away from the crowd a bit before speaking.

Sure, the first question is do you really have the cojones to try and take chicago?

The second question, which is by far the most important is do you have what it takes? Do you have what it takes to be the leader Chicago needs? You've got 5 city heads pay very close attention. The winner of this competition will be no half assed nitwit.. I expect great things for Chicago, though I know there's a long road ahead.

Adamine take a look around the crowd before retreating into the crowd.

Warped hears of The Chicago Experiment. She reads through the basics of the rules:

Must be 35 days and under (good, the ones that died in the last big war are eligible)

One member and everyone else "fresh off the boat" sounds fair

Bodyguard caps to eliminate an advantage - good.

City heads give the go ahead - sounds good. Surely since they created this experiment they are for people venturing out and expanding this thing of ours.

All the T's seem to be crossed and the I's dotted yet we do not have a single family in Chicago yet. Surely there are people who want to test the waters as a CL in a newly opened city? It won't be long that the bloodlines of the people who died in the last big war won't be eligible. I am very surprised some of these have not asked to set up and started this project. There are some good bloodlines with siblings here that surely want to give this a go?

If there is no interest, maybe this is the wrong time for this experiment. I love the idea but it seems to have ran right into a brick wall.

Report Post Tip

Running off on your own and setting up without your friends and family to protect you is scary. Most everyone still remembers the bloodsheed in Las Vegas, the memories of those bloodlines who set up only to be gunned down within weeks, if not days of being set up. Those scars are still fresh for some. I believe thats why most havent jumped at this chance yet.

Don't mistake the lack of people rushing into things as a lack of interest, sir. I am aware of a few people that are very interested and are waiting on approval from their leader.

There is also the fact some people may be waiting until they are slightly closer to their 35 days mark, to allow them more time to be in a stronger position before setting out on their own.

I still think this will be a success, hopefully soon we will all see some people making their moves.

Report Post Tip

The 35 day rule is the best it can get.  It is the way that ensures the FAIREST way.  If you are over 35 days old, dump money to your friend make a new character and come back with a new one so you can set up if your heart so desires to become a leader in CHI.  Any other way would make it more unfair.  Nothing will be impeccable.

Report Post Tip

I think the major problem with this or any project of its kind is the stigma that's attached to it. No matter of the rules or the candidates, the first major stumbling block to get over is peoples perception, what I mean by this is, how will the rest of current set up asses you, will you be take serious or simply laughed at because of the path you have maybe had to take to get that crew leader status . Lets face it, for the first few months the" las vegas project" was a shambles and was poked fun at, as was anyone who decided to embark into it.

In a counter argument to that I would implore anyone who wants to do it, to go show that its not a joke, that you can survive and that lessons have been learnt from Las Vegas-of old. obviously in doing so you have to understand the risks involved so be clever, use your head and think it through.

Sounds like these leaders with applications should get on the ball and make decisions since we have people whose 35 days are running out Ma'am. Surely they deserve an up or down answer in a timely manner?

Report Post Tip

Perhaps like many official documents, the time stamp on the application could be the determining factor with regards to age. Surely the city heads cannot rush to judgement and must carefully consider who they allow this opportunity.

Report Post Tip

PJ hears what Warped says and looks at Slash. He then proceeds to lift up his kilt for the world to see.

Nope, Definitely has a penis.

In regards to your other comment. The people who have approached me personally about this opportunity are no where near the 35 age limit. If a person was near that age then I fully believe each leader out there making this decision is factoring that in.

Patience my friends. Some things don't happen over night.

Report Post Tip

That would be smart for the time stamp on the application to be a determining factor, but at the same time that does still allow someone to join the experiment over 35 days old.

Either way if that is the case then maybe it should be stated here. And if that turns out to be the way things are, then maybe there should also be a rule stating you have X amount of days to make the move to Chicago after the approval of your application so that someone doesn't get approved and sits around for a week or so building.

I'm sure there are lots of people who want to head to Chi to start to establish themselves, and with the recent take down of tnaryT, R.I.P., there are siblings and offsprings of members who passed away who are missing a chance to start fresh in Chi. There are also new comers who now have the chance to train solely for the purpose of heading to Chicago and running their own family before they get too old.

I think this thing of ours needs and experiment like Chi right now, but at the same time it is kind of strange to not see one new auth. Whether that is because a Lack of interest, or lack of quality applicants is the question.

Report Post Tip

Giving someone this opportunity is something I, and I hope the other city heads don't take lightly, nor rush the decision. Starting a family is a big honour and simply having a dream of one day being bold is vain, and will in no way better the community.

We could immediately accept all of the applications and send the unprepared into the wilderness to undoubtedly meet their end, or we could be responsible for our members, and carefully consider each applicant and ensure that they are serious and ready for the challenge they wish to take.
