While on the topic of "tradition", well I'd like to say that this is not what is known as "traditional" by any means. Usually a "mafioso" would need to be what is know as "authed" in a city before he is recognized as a CL (crewleader). Oh how times have changed (for the worst).

Fair enough, he hasn't asked for auth, but as he has stated there is no current criminal activity in that area. I see Grins point, until we reach the point of stability among ALL seven cities the others are wasted. We have seen entire cities closed, whereas after the great criminal wipeout a few years ago (reset) earners could set up, there was no trouble of empty cities. Back then Made Man was a rank that only few achieved.

What you have here is a guy that saw a gap in the market... saw an opening... and then took it. Now... What would happen if he was allowed to carry on. It would open up the flood gates for a fuck ton of other people to do the same. We would see a mass exodus of family members ready for their button or who already have their button leaving families to go start their own un-authorised enterprises in vacant city. When that happens? We might as well just give up the whole notion of being authorised to run your own family. Then what will it mean to auth a hard worker to run their own family? It wouldn't mean jack shit.

Then I can almost guarantee you that in many generations to come when that became the norm... we would have people screaming and shouting for what would then be the 'old school' style of authing.

You can never please anyone. So there is no point in trying.

I agree that the current methods of auth are perfectly fine, its always nice to see new ideas come forward though. It's just a pity that he took action before contacting he right people, but I guess that wouldn't have made the same statement.

There is no need to apologise Professor. You were not disrespectful or anything of that ilk. You can imagine how tired I am at the moment so forgive the abrupt nature of my response.

New or improved methods are always a bonus and always things that are looked in to with great interest. I for one am always glad and interested in hearing them. No matter where they come from.

I, unsurprisingly, don't think a fuckton of Wise Guys moving to currently open cities and paying the ruling powers $3,000,000 a week for the privilege is a bad thing.

Grin just hit on something that I would be interested in querying about. Although I get the age limit for the chicago project, what happened to the folks who were already to old to join? were they just "sorry, your to old so your screwed"? or was some though put into how (other then rogueing) they could be involved in something similar.

I must be overtired, I didn't think that thought through. So for the record, I did not intend to state that in a way to attack the heads of the cities for their decision, I am simply curious about how they came to that decision.

Grin was Associated with his his family prior to heading to NO.  He hadn't been Made - he hadn't taken the oath.

So...  Technically, he didn't leave a family, he was just no longer associated with them.  He then went to a city that was empty.

So, he hadn't done anything wrong - but he also wasn't protected any longer.

He left his "Crew". The crew gives him the protection and the right to earn money that he so readily abused. Whilst not a member of our inner family, he was indeed a member of our crew.

Theoritically he left the family without permission, with not even a nod to Slash as to what he was going to do. Did he break rules possibly, possibly not. But he did show blatant disrespect for Slash and the Godfather of LV by the way he went about it.
